CHC Vintage February 2018 Review
This subscription is customized based on your size and preferences from a survey you fill out after subscribing, so everyone receives something different each month. But that’s part of the fun! Let’s see what February's shipment had in it for me:
There is usually a handwritten card with some styling suggestions. I appreciate the insight here into the manufacturer (this month’s dress was made in the USA).
1960s Era Vintage Dress
I knew this was going to be awesome as soon as I opened the package and saw the print. This is totally my kind of look. The bolder and brighter and more unusual the print, the better it is, in my opinion.
This was quite comfortable and it fit well. The zipper in the back worked perfectly. This had washing instructions on the label. I followed them after wearing this once and the dress is still in great shape afterward. (I know my bra strap is showing in one of the pictures, which I only noticed after the fact, so I’ll either wear a different bra or I’ll layer it with a cardigan or shrug.)
I wore this out the day we took these pictures, just to the vet’s office (ah, the continuing saga of Mr. Kitty) and Target and out to dinner and I got a few compliments (including from complete strangers). So I guess I pulled it off!
Verdict: I like the dress I received from CHC Vintage this month. I thought “90s Grunge” suited me as a style, but “vintage prints” is proving to be just as fun (and even more work-appropriate). I don’t always do well with the styling service subscriptions, but CHC Vintage just “gets” me.
There is a generous exchange policy if something doesn’t fit or has some other issue (I once got a dress with a broken zipper, for example, and the exchange was super simple). I don’t regularly shop at consignment or vintage stores, so I don’t know how this price compares to what you would see somewhere like that. But I would definitely pay $35 or more for a wear-to-work dress, and I got one here, so this subscription is worth it to me from that perspective.
