CHC Vintage February 2018 Review

This subscription is customized based on your size and preferences from a survey you fill out after subscribing, so everyone receives something different each month. But that’s part of the fun! Let’s see what February's shipment had in it for me:

There is usually a handwritten card with some styling suggestions. I appreciate the insight here into the manufacturer (this month’s dress was made in the USA).

1960s Era Vintage Dress

I knew this was going to be awesome as soon as I opened the package and saw the print. This is totally my kind of look. The bolder and brighter and more unusual the print, the better it is, in my opinion.

This was quite comfortable and it fit well. The zipper in the back worked perfectly. This had washing instructions on the label. I followed them after wearing this once and the dress is still in great shape afterward. (I know my bra strap is showing in one of the pictures, which I only noticed after the fact, so I’ll either wear a different bra or I’ll layer it with a cardigan or shrug.)

I wore this out the day we took these pictures, just to the vet’s office (ah, the continuing saga of Mr. Kitty) and Target and out to dinner and I got a few compliments (including from complete strangers). So I guess I pulled it off!

Verdict: I like the dress I received from CHC Vintage this month. I thought “90s Grunge” suited me as a style, but “vintage prints” is proving to be just as fun (and even more work-appropriate). I don’t always do well with the styling service subscriptions, but CHC Vintage just “gets” me.

There is a generous exchange policy if something doesn’t fit or has some other issue (I once got a dress with a broken zipper, for example, and the exchange was super simple). I don’t regularly shop at consignment or vintage stores, so I don’t know how this price compares to what you would see somewhere like that. But I would definitely pay $35 or more for a wear-to-work dress, and I got one here, so this subscription is worth it to me from that perspective.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you subscribe today? No, every box is different based on your style and size preferences.

Value Breakdown: This box costs $35 and you get one vintage dress.

I think someone made a copy-paste error when this got posted. This is “vintage prints.”

I collect vintage clothes and accessories. I also had a little boutique set up in an antique shop where I sold my vintage stuff. The prices that we are seeing on the reviews on vintage clothing is normally right on point. True vintage clothing is at least 20 years old. Most of what is found in thrift shops is just second hand not vintage.
I am loving everything you receive through this company. Every piece looks so nice on you!

When I saw the print on the folded up dress, I rolled my eyes. Are they kidding? Seriously – who could possibly look good in that? But then…Wow. You really rock that dress! It looks great on you!

You had me at strawberry prints. I would subscribe in a heartbeat if I wasn’t so overloaded with clothes, some with still tags on. I totally maxed out my card during a shopping foray. I will keep this subscription in mind when I do turnovers.

As always, your reviews are awesome and you look great!

What a cool dress! Everything they send always looks great on you. I am really liking the vintage prints. I never wear dresses but your reviews make me want to subscribe.

I went from never wearing dresses to wearing them like 80% of the time because I have given up shopping for pants. (All pants seem to be made with spandex or elastane these days, and I refuse to wear stretchy pants.)

I like this sub’s clothing on you much better than than the last company you reviewed (can’t remember the name). Vintage… Does that mean second-hand? I only ask because if it’s new, that’s a great deal, but if it’s second-hand, this and other similar companies are charging way to much.

Yes, Vintage typically means used. For instance, the dress Ragan received is from the 60s, if you read the note from the stylist. I do not think this is overpriced for a nice vintage clothing piece. I’ve been to true vintage (not just secondhand, or goodwill type) shops and the price here is on point with what you would pay at a boutique. The owners do have to spend their own time to hunt these pieces down themselves, and ultimately, that’s what you’re paying for.

They also ship in flat rate priority boxes, which is about $8 or $9 right there.
