Lipstick Junkie December 2017 Review

This month is all about getting holiday party ready! Let’s see what lip products I got:

The included info card gives some information about each of the items including the retail values and description of the theme.

This bright cherry red liquid lip color intimidated me at first (not typically a red lip wearer) but I like it! The finish is slightly shimmery and matte. I only need to apply a little to achieve full coverage and as it dries down it remains a bit tacky. But, once it dries, it does not budge. Like, I needed waterproof eye makeup remover and some elbow grease to remove it (the next morning, I know, sigh). But, if I’m going to wear a red lip I don’t want it to fade or bleed and this one sure doesn’t.

Sorme All Day Smooch Proof Lip Stain in Fatal

I’ve always loved a good lip stain and this color is one of my faves. I like the marker applicator because it makes lining my lips precise, but it does make getting a smooth finish difficult. The color has sheer to medium coverage and does last quite a while. I apply a little balm after it dries to keep my lips from drying out.

Bellapierre Minerals Lipstick in Couture

Wow, this lipstick is so dark! The dark purple shade has a blue shimmer that makes it look iridescent in the light. I’m surprised how smooth this lipstick applies and feels on my lips. There is definite transfer so I’ll have to be careful about touching my face. While the likelihood of me wearing this is low, I might pull it out for a party or night out downtown.

Matteify Lip Liner in Sweet

I really like the cool pink shade of this lip liner. It applies smoothly and has a matte finish without being dry. I ran into a problem when sharpening though. I had to sharpen down to the nub to finally get enough product to create a point. It seems like I got a defective pencil that just didn’t fill correctly.

all lipsticks swatched on inside arm

Here are swatches of all of the products (top to bottom): Sorme lip stain, Peeks liquid lip color, Matteify lip liner, Bellapierre lipstick.

Verdict: This Lipstick Junkie box has a value of $56. I probably wouldn’t have picked the red liquid lip color for myself but ended up really liking it and the lip stain is certainly something I would have bought myself. The other two items weren’t as usable for me, either not my shade or not able to be sharpened. I think that if you like to play around with lip color and like to try new brands you may not find yourself than this box is a good value. It probably isn’t suited for someone who likes neutral tones. I hope to see some fun colors in next month’s box.

  1. I love Lipstick Junkie! A lot of different lip looks to try with good value!

  2. Okay, you look adorable no matter what the shade, but that purple on you… Wow! You might not think so… That is your shade. Not everyone can pull that off. Yeah, may be a little radical for daytime use. Definitely right for night.

  3. I love marker lip stains! (ironic, since pretty much the only kind of eyeliner I don’t like are the marker ones) The color is lovely & unique, too.

I think the dark shade of Bellapierre lipstick looks great with your eyes.
