CHC Vintage Accessories January 2018 Review
Awe! Look at this cute little pooch card they included for me this month!
There isn’t a traditional information card or invoice included with the subscription box; you get a personalized handwritten card with styling suggestions instead. I really enjoy the personalized and thoughtful touch of this card and the handy styling tips that were included.
Leopard Print Pillbox Hat by Betmar of New York – No size tag (brand and retail value unavailable)
For years I have been on the hunt for the perfect leopard fur hats and within two months I found one at a vintage fair and this one from CHC Vintage! So blessed, am I right? I love both, but I think I actually prefer this one from CHC! The pillbox shape is perfectly structured and the fur is more of a camel toned leopard print. The top of the hat is made of a braided chenille material. The fit is perfect and I had no issues wearing it on my pumpkin head (nor did my photographer aka my dad. I got my gigantic cranium from him. He looked very stylish in it, but did not want his photo included in this review, sadly)! This hat paired gorgeously with my mustard yellow crushed velvet dress, but this would look fantastic with a black and white striped top, circle skirt, tights, and booties or with your favorite band shirt, moto jacket, and pointy toe boots.
Beaded Sun Ray Evening Bag – Retail Value Unavailable
OH. MY. GOD. BECKY, LOOK AT THIS PURSE! Seriously, though! I saw this and legit squealed with delight. This handbag has a dazzling sun ray-like design in gold and bronze shades. The purse has a thin roped strap, but could also be used as a clutch. I love the size of this purse since it is not too tiny or too big. I can easily fit some makeup, money, and other small items it in for a night out. This purse will pair fantastically with anything from a sheer black pussy bow top, mini skirt, moto jacket, and booties or with jeans, a crop top, and pointed flats. The options are endless for this stunning piece!
Dangley Xena: Warrior Princess Earrings — Retail Value Unavailable
These vintage, crescent-shaped, dangly earrings reminded me of the 90s cult character, Xena: Warrior Princess. The material looks like a shield or part of her armor. Paired properly, these earrings will evoke Stevie Nicks (it had been too long since I mentioned good ol’ Stevie in a review) vibes as well if combined with a bell-sleeved dress and western booties or with jeans, a flowy blouse, and booties. I am extremely pleased these were included in this month’s box.
Cloisonné Enamel Chinese Dragon Pearl Necklace – Retail Value Unavailable
I used to be quite the sucker for Cloisonné pieces. I have quite the collection of unicorn ones I found at a flea market in Ohio years ago. The dragon design is one I often find on my hunts, but the pearl necklace this pendant hangs from makes it far more unique. The beauty of a piece like this is it can dress up a casual ensemble or look elegant with a little black dress. The options are endless!
Bold Golden Girl Statement Ring — Retail Value Unavailable
I LOVE THIS RING! This ring is the opposite of timid, but it is not an obnoxious piece either. In addition, the ring is adjustable which is fantastic because these days I range between an 8 and 8.5. This piece pairs amazingly well with all the items included in this box and will add pizazz to your dressiest or most casual outfit. It is a true staple piece.
AS IF Jewelry Dish — Retail Unavailable
This jewelry dish is channeling Cher Horowitz of Clueless tremendously well. I can see putting this by her nightstand to hold her rings next to a framed photo of Josh. This piece is definitely not a full-on Monet!
Verdict: This is my first CHC Vintage Accessories box and saying I am pleased is an understatement. I am absolutely in love with the hat, purse, ring, and earrings. I know I will get a ton of use out of those pieces in my everyday ensembles and to amp up my out on the town weekend outfits. Not only did I love the items included in this box, but I love the price as well! $55 for five accessories, a ring dish, and shipping and handling is excellent! Being able to get accessories so tailored to my style without having to leave my house and jump in thrift store bargain bins makes it a great value as well. This service saves me money and time. You can’t beat that!
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Each box is curated with one of a kind accessories, so your box will likely look different than mine.
Value Breakdown: This box is $55 for five accessories, a ring dish, and shipping and handling. Five items at $55 come up to $11 per piece. That is a heck of a value considering I sense the hat and purse would value far more than $11 in a vintage or consignment boutique!
