Lola Beauty Box October 2017 - Lip

LASplash Cosmetics Velvet Matte Collection, Strawberry Colada - Retail Value $14

While the color was fun and flattering, the formula of this matte lip color was not right for me. It really accentuated the lines on my lips and remained tacky when I pressed my lips together. But, it did last through everything! I have to use waterproof eye makeup remover to get this stuff to budge.

Nomad Cosmetics Havana Eyeshadow, Cohiba - Retail Value $12

This pretty bronze eyeshadow is perfect for fall and the metallic eye trend. It is a smooth formula with plenty of shine without being glittery. The undertones are rosy which makes this color more wearable than it might look.

Beauty for Real I-Line 24-7 Eyeliner, Black Magic - Retail Value $14

A gel liner in a convenient automatic pencil package, yes, please! This matte black liner glides on so smoothly and lasts all day. It even says it is waterproof. I love the crisp lines I can get and, if I want to smudge, I can do so right after application.

Lola Beauty Box October 2017 - Primer

Emite Makeup Base Primer, Red Coral - Retail Value $37.07 USD

This creamy primer helps to conceal imperfections while smoothing skin texture. It leaves a velvety feel and brightens my face without any shimmer. Even though it is free from fragrances it has a distinct clean scent that I can’t quite figure out, but it isn’t bad. I like that the tube has a narrow tip so you can squeeze out as much as you need without making a mess.

Pure Cosmetics Studio Collection Eyeshadow Palette - Retail Value $40

What an awesome palette! I love that the shades are named after famous artists and that there are coordinating matte and shimmer shades. The color payoff is good although the darker colors need some blending to get a smooth finish. The double-ended brush that comes in the tin has a blending end and a dense end and is good quality. And, the back of the box has a few different looks to try in case you need some inspiration.

Items swatched from top to bottom: eyeliner, Cohiba eyeshadow, lip color, and palette.

Lola Beauty Box October 2017 - Eye Look

Here is a look using items from this month’s box. I used the primer under my mineral foundation which helped to smooth out some flaky patches. Then I recreated the “Mona Lisa” look from the Studio Palette using the shades Miro, Rockwell, Kahlo, Picasso, and Banksy. I love this for fall and all of my olive green clothes! Next, I used the eyeliner on my top and bottom lash lines and swiped on two coats of the lip color.

Verdict: I am loving this month’s Lola Beauty Box. The large palette and primer were my favorites. The only item I didn’t like was the matte lip color. I do wish they would have included a skincare or haircare item instead of two eyeshadow products for some variety. The value of this box is $117.07 with free shipping which exceeds their promise of at least a $70 value. The products lately have been high-value and good quality and I have found many everyday staples from this box. Here’s hoping for some non-makeup items next month.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No. Order before the end of the month to receive the November box. The November box is now sold out, so you will receive the December box!

Value Breakdown: At $21 for this box, here’s what you are paying approximately per item:

  • LASplash Cosmetics Velvet Matte Collection: $2.51
  • Nomad Cosmetics Havana Eyeshadow: $2.15
  • Beauty for Real I-Line 24-7 Eyeliner: $2.51
  • Emite Makeup Base Primer: $6.65
  • Pure Cosmetics Studio Collection Eyeshadow Palette: $7.18

Do you all like this box better than Boxycharm? I’ve never heard of this one before today and am wondering if it’s worth it

I don’t get why they would give you a multi-shade palette AND a single shadow in the same box. Why not give you a blush or highlight and save the single shadow for another month?

And for the liplines, try a thick balm or creamier lipstick underneath. The color is really pretty.

I’m surprised “Pure Cosmetics” hasn’t been sued yet by another company. They make copies of the Naked palettes, ABH palettes, and lots of others. Even the name can be mixed up with “PUR Cosmetics” just an observation!

Makeup Revolution and Hush Beauty do it too. They make things just different enough to get by.

I had that thought, too.
All in all Pure Cosmetics sounds like an 80’s imitation brand to me, like Avon or something.

That swatch of Cohiba on your wrist looks amazing!

Btw, I found that the NYX lip primer does a good job of diminishing those lip lines.
