The content on the back changes from month to month, and this time they’ve included three different recipes using items from the box.

Dave’s Gourmet Overnight Oats in Blueberry Vanilla Almond – Value $3.49

I like when I get single serving oatmeal in sub boxes. It’s happened before and makes my life a bit easier in the morning. The difference in these is that since they are overnight oats, you add milk to them the night before you want to enjoy and pop the container in the refrigerator. The next morning, you just stir them up and they’re ready to eat. These oats have chia seeds with them too, which are a great source of Omega-3 fatty acids. I received the blueberry vanilla almond flavor which looks like the one I’d probably choose if I were buying this in the store.

Bush’s Chili Beans (Kidney Beans) in Spicy Chili Sauce – Value $1.29

Chili season is upon us, my friends. This dude is going straight into a pot on my stove to party with some ground beef, tomato sauce, and a myriad of seasonings. My Dad has a pretty delicious chili recipe that I’ve made before, so I may use his instead of the one listed on the can and on the Degustabox info card. Good to know these are vegetarian in case anyone wants to use them with fake meat crumbles instead!

Bush’s White Chili Beans (Great Northern Beans) in Mild Chili Sauce – Value $1.29

What about this dude? Yea, he’ll get his. They’ve included a special chicken chili recipe on the label here, so I’m going to give it a whirl. I can feel the tortilla strips snapping in my mouth now. Avocado garnish? Yes, please.

Loacker Quadratini in Raspberry-Yogurt – Value $4.59

I’m not going to complain that these aren’t the hazelnut flavored ones. I won’t! I’ll be happy with what I have received. Wafer cookies are some of the best snacks available to humankind, even if they’re fruit flavored. October happens to be Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Loacker USA has donated a minimum of $35,000 to the Susan G Komen Foundation in connection with this specific product. Hazelnut or not, these are delicious. The wafers are light and crispy and the raspberry yogurt cream inside is nice n sweet. I could easily eat this whole bag before I finish this review…

Welch’s Fruit ‘n Yogurt Snacks – $2.75

Ok, this fruit and yogurt thing is getting a little out of hand now. These are good though. These little cherry fruit snacks are super soft and are coated in a creamy yogurt. You get 8 packs in the box, so they’re great for kid lunches or something to tide you over until lunch.

They’ve included a coupon as well if you want to buy more.

Boboli Original Mini Crusts (2 pack) – Value $3.99

I’m embarrassed to say how excited I was when I pulled these out of the box. Boboli bread shells have been there for me every step of my life, it feels. Pizza is very near and dear to my heart and I love it in all forms. These ready-made pizza shells are so frigging tasty, and all you have to do is throw sauce, cheese, and toppings on these to make a super good lil personal pizzie. Perfect for those nights that I don’t have it in me to make a full meal kit dinner.

SunButter Creamy Sunflower Butter, 2 oz. x 2 – Buy a 16 oz. jar for $6.99

One of my best friends is deathly allergic to peanuts, so I appreciate all of the alternative butters out there. This kind is made from the less-threatening sunflower seed and tastes pretty much exactly what you’d imagine: a creamy butter version of the sunflower seed flavor. I’m into it!

Kernel Season’s Popcorn Seasoning in Kettle Corn and White Cheddar – Value $1.49/ea (Total Value $2.98)

They have these seasonings at my favorite local indie movie theater and that little popcorn kernel mascot has always cracked me up. Look at the little hat. Because, it’s like, a Colonel. An officer of popcorn? I can’t get down with the Kettle Corn flavor because I don’t promote popcorn being sweet (though I like caramel corn, so don’t try to make sense of it), but I will definitely jam out with some white cheddar! My roommate taught me how to make popcorn the old-fashioned way in a pot (with coconut oil, which is a game changer), so this seasoning is going all over it!

Hippeas in Vegan White Cheddar  – Value $2.99

These organic chickpea puffs are a huge hit in the MSA office and I’m still not sure if I’m on board. The vegan white cheddar flavor is especially beloved here, but there is something kind of “off” about them to me. I was told, “No- you have to keep eating them to understand”. I feel the same way about natural cheese puffs. At first, they taste like cardboard, but the more I eat them, the more I can’t stop shoveling them into my face. I think I’ll just pass these off to my coworkers though.

Goetze’s Cow Tales Minis, 4 oz. bag – Value $1.69

If you’re familiar with caramel creams or “bull’s eyes”, these are the same thing in different form. These candies are made of a little “tale” of caramel with cream inside. I like or dislike these depending on the way the wind blows. They are each individually wrapped and are soft but not too gooey. The center cream is a little chalky, but I think a lot of people love that about it.

Verdict: I was quite pleased with Degustabox this month. I thought the chili beans were very timely since everyone I know is making chili right now, and I was overjoyed to see Boboli in the mix. There are a lot of things in here I will be using and snacking on until the next delivery comes.

  1. Don’t force yourself to eat the raspberry cookies…

Send them to me instead! 😈

  2. I love degusta box but this month wasn’t my favorite. Not a bean person so passed those along to a friend. Also passed her along the pizza crusts because after looking at the calorie count and ingredients, I chose not to eat it. I will use the rest of the items and still look forward to this box every month!

  3. Would someone mind explaining the rewards system to me? I emailed customer service about it but am very confused still. It seems like you would get more free boxes by buying a gift subscription than buying it for yourself.
I really want to try this box, but after I signed up for LWF and they almost immediately changed rewards systems I’m a little more cautious.

    Thank you in advance!

    • I’ve never done referrals or gift subs personally but this is from the website:

Referral: “Invite your friends and receive points (2 friends = 1 free box)! When they subscribe you can redeem your points to receive your next box free of charge.

Points will only be received if the invitee uses the exact code and URL provided in the invitation. Points will not be issued if another code is used.”

Gift sub: “Want to surprise someone and introduce them to new and exciting products?
You will get 25 points if you choose the 1 month gift option, 50 points for 3 months and 75 points for 6 months.
Remember 100 points entitles you to a free Degustabox!

Once you have completed the form and payment, we will send an email to the recipient with instructions on how to receive the gift. ”

General points: In addition to the items above, you get monthly surveys once you start getting boxes. For every survey you fill out, you get 5 pts (I’m pretty sure it started as 10 when I joined a year ago so that’s kind of a bummer) and once you get up to 100 pts you get a free box. There is a box to click on the “points” portion of your online account to let them know you want to redeem your points for a free box when you get up to 100 pts.

“Your account must be active to receive your free box. If your account is inactive or cancelled you will need to reactivate it in order to receive your free box. ”

      Hope that helps.

    • Is there anything specific you find confusing? You earn a free box when you reach 100 points. You need an active subscription to earn points. If you only bought gift subs and you didn’t have your own active sub, you would never earn any points. If you have an active sub for yourself, you earn 25 points for gifting a 1 month sub to a friend, 50 points for gifting a 3 month sub, and 75 points for gifting a 6 month sub. So yes, you’d earn more points by gifting six 1 month subs than by gifting one 6 month sub, but you’d have to remember to send the gift sub every month and you wouldn’t get the price break for the longer subscription. And again, if you don’t have your own account, you won’t earn any points at all.

      • That makes so much more sense! I didn’t realize it was like GlossyBox where you have to have an active subscription to earn the points. I thought that you could just purchase gifts and not have an active subscription yourself and by so doing earn more points.
So if you have an active (non-gift) subscription, do you not earn any points other than the 5 for surveys?

Thank you so much for your kind reply! You have no idea how much time I’ve spent trying to find an answer like this one before posting here.

        • As far as I know – and I’m certainly not an expert – there are three ways to earn points:
          1. Take the survey each month and earn 5 points.
          2. Purchase gift subs
          3. Refer friends – earn 50 points for each friend who purchases a sub using your unique referral link.

I’ve gotta say though, this sub is absolutely worth it, regardless of the rewards program. I could easily spend well over $20 out at dinner or on snacks, but instead my boyfriend and I made pizza and popcorn using these products and we stayed in and watched a movie. The sub paid for itself in one night. I donate whatever I won’t use (I don’t eat meat and sometimes we do get jerky or products containing meat-based ingredients) to a local shelter. I cut back on subs to save money for the holidays (and lets be real, I’m running out of room to store beauty products!) but this one is a keeper – it’s practical, I’m going to spend money on groceries anyway right? But you still get the thrill of opening a special surprise every month and discovering new products. I highly recommend this sub.

          • Thank you! That definitely helps!
I’m totally the same way. I go to the store or a restaurant and get pulled into how delicious this or that looks and it ends up in the cart or on the table. I found this really appealing because you are getting a small discount on the items and you get to try new items or stock some pantry staples.
I’m having a little trouble pulling the trigger, but your recommendation and help may just have pushed me over the edge into trying this one. Plus I LOVE the Oreo candy bar spoiler for next month. So after dropping LWF this month I may try this next!
            Thanks again!

  4. I just subscribed. I really hope this is my exact box- it is PERFECT for me. I sent an email off to customer service asking for it.

    • You won’t get this box.You will get November’s box.Once they ship the monthly boxes out they won’t send then to new customers. Your box will arrive around the 5th of the month. See notes above.I always get 1 box and if it was good I’d order another one. Now they don’t allow that.

  5. This was a great box for us. My son loves those cow tails. I like getting the pantry items. I picked up another can of white chili beans so I can make the recipe on the can. If it’s good, they will have a customer for life. We love white chicken chili!!!

  6. This was my first box and I had the same reaction when I pulled out the boboli pizza crust. I really liked the box and thought it was a really nice mix of items ! The cookies were probably my favorite.

  7. Officer of popcorn – lol. Great review Marne!

    • Thanks Cyndi!

  8. October marks a year for me with Degustabox. This is the first box that wasn’t for me. Nothing wowed me this month. Not a bad track record. Its still my favorite sub box.
