Play! by Sephora is a monthly beauty and makeup subscription. Each month they send you six samples, a PLAY! BOOK of tips and tricks, and a PLAY! PASS for in-store learning.
I used to work at Sephora so I naturally couldn’t resist this subscription!
My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)
Every month they include all of the samples in a mini bag with a different design.
FYI - The box variation I received this month is box ending in #023. To find out which box you’re receiving at the beginning of each month, follow these instructions:
“If you log in through a browser, not the app, and go to my account > account details > online orders and open the play! Order Details, you can see the “item number” next to the image.”
The Subscription Box: Play! by Sephora
The Cost: $10
The Products: Five deluxe samples plus a fragrance sample, a PLAY! BOOK of tips and tricks, and a PLAY! PASS for in-store learning.

Keep Track of Your Subscriptions: Add this box to your subscription list or wishlist!
Each box comes with a Play! Pass, which is a card you can use at Sephora (in-store) to get 50 extra rewards points, and you can also get one-on-one tutorials and tips of products from a Sephora consultant.
I do have to mention, you can walk in and get shown any tips and even a “mini makeover” at the Beauty Studio (which is where a consultant will do a small demo on you like a certain eye look, how to do your brows, how to contour, matching you with a foundation, etc. and teach you what they’re doing) anytime – with or without a Play pass! So, if you don’t have this subscription (or can’t get off the waitlist), you can still go to your local Sephora and try out all the products featured, or any other products.
This month’s theme is “Beauty Staycation.”
On the very inside of the folded info sheet is thorough details and tips about each featured product. They always give helpful information and advice so I definitely recommend making sure you read these!
Briogeo Rosarco Milk Reparative Leave-in Conditioning Spray - 0.75 oz, Value $3.86
I always use a leave-in conditioner, so I was excited to try a new one (new to me, at least)! I exclusively use ones with spray nozzles because I am all about keeping product off my hands. I really like this formula, which is fortified with coconut, rose, and argan oils. It sprayed on well, kept my hair soft, smooth, and protected! I also felt like my hair had a little extra texture once I was done blow-drying.
Caudalie Vine(active) Glow Activating Anti-Wrinkle Serum - 0.33 oz, Value $17.16
I’m always happy to try another Caudalie product because I love their brand. This serum is made to protect against pollutants and environmental factors that can be harsh on your skin. The formula is a lightweight, milky serum and it absorbed into my skin quickly. After using for a couple days, I do really like it! It preps my skin well for moisturizer and I know it’s delivering antioxidants and Vitamin C to my face.
Fresh Rose Face Mask - 0.5 oz, Value $12.50
This gel mask is made with rose petals, rosewater, green tea, and algae (one of my weirdly favorite ingredients in skincare products!). It definitely smells just like a rose!
I have dry skin and this mask did help my face feel instantly more moisturized and hydrated! I have enough here for a second (lighter) application, as well.
Bobbi Brown Eye Opening Mascara – 0.17 oz, Value $12.14
This mascara’s pigment is super black and intense. I love it! I also love the huge, fluffy brush but I know many people may be turned off by it, as well. I was able to get good, easy coverage and some increased length. With a clump-free coat or two, I was really happy with it!
Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Color Splash Lipstick in Set Sail – 0.035 oz, Value $6.13
This new product from Tarte is the winning product discovery for me this month! It’s a matte lipstick, but application was smooth and the formula is hydrating and comfortable. I also got a ton of wear out of this!
This color is gorgeous – it’s a dark nude. Very wearable, great to keep in your purse all the time.
Clean Reserve Sueded Oud Perfume Bonus Sample - .05 fl oz
It’s great when I find a perfume I actually like as a sample! This one is really nice and lines up well with my taste. It’s sophisticated and woody/musky but still a little sweet and well-balanced.
I think everything comes together smoothly and well-balanced here. Some of the notes include Incense oil, birchwood, honeysuckle (YUM), jasmine, white magnolia, soft suede, patchouli, black amber, skin musk, and a few others. It has some sweetness but in a grown-up and subtle way.
Here I am wearing the Tarte Lipstick and the Bobbi Brown mascara. Note that this is what the lipstick looked like after drinking a Starbucks cold brew coffee and croissant! I love this color.
Verdict: I loved my July Play! by Sephora box! I actually like everything in it, and found some new discoveries that work really well for me! The value of my box adds up to $51.79 which is fantastic for a $10 box, I think. I’m happy!
