This box came with a fold out sheet that details the beauty item for the month and the new colors launched.

Now, on to the items!

Julep usually includes a bonus item like candy in every box. This month it is tiny temporary tattoos!

These work on your skin or nails - just use a top coat to seal them to your nail polish once you've applied them.

Julep Nail Polish in Nadine - Retail Value $14

This shade is described as a "Tangy Persimmon Crème." It's a high-shine tangerine - very bold and summery!

This color took two coats to get full coverage. The finish is shiny, and I'm two days in with no chips!

Also good to know - you can pull off Julep caps to swatch them!

Julep Nail Polish in Hayat - Retail Value $14

This color is described as a "Blazing Hibiscus Crème." It's a bold neon pink that takes me back to my Barbie-obsessed youth!

Just like Nadine, this color took two coats to get full coverage. The finish is shiny, and I'm two days in with no chips!

Here are both of the colors on:

I usually stick to neutrals when I'm picking out my own nail polish shades, but these bright colors are so fun!

Julep So Plush Ultra-Hydrating Lip Gloss in Werk - Value $19

This shade is described as a "Heathered Rose Crème." I love a mauve lip, so I had to pick this color.

The formula provides a good amount of sheer color, a natural looking shine, and the best part? No stickiness! Here it is swatched:

And this box also included a coupon for $20 off of your next $50 purchase.

Verdict: I'm loving all my choices this month! The neon nail polish colors have pushed me out of my neutral nail comfort zone (in a good way), and the lip gloss is an always-needed staple.

I got the So Plush Lip Gloss in Girl Crush. I love it. Its such a nice summery pink and I love that its not sticky. I got two nail polishes, not sure of the colours, but I swapped out curated for my own choices. I also got the new Illuminating Primer as an add-on. I really like it, so far.

I probably create a new account just to get the set of 12 nail polish. I like Julep products specially their skincare line, but I have skipped a few months then and now.

I just did that! Still waiting to get my polishes!

Anyone that has not yet subscribed, the 12 polish set is amazing! I was expecting them to be sent in a regular box but I came home to a display case with a magnetic closure. I hated to take any out because it looks so nice! And the polishes are much prettier than the picture makes them seem. I recommend getting a sub just for this set.

LOL! I received a BEAUTIFUL boxed set…and I couldn’t bare to break the set. I ended up swapping it whole so someone else could destroy it’s perfection. The swapper even sent me a message saying that it was more gorgeous in person than even in the picture. Their boxed sets can be absolute stunners.
And if you are new, you are in for a treat! Later in the year they bring out more boxed sets that you can normally get for half price. The Zodiac sets and the birthstone sets are to-die-for. Julep does nail polish sooooo well. I can’t wait for them to bring out some sparkly lip glosses (I am no fan of traditional lip colors).

I just got another sub just to get the box set! Can’t wait to get mine I have no problem “destroying ” mine! Lol

I just signed up and received my free 12 piece polish gift a week or so ago. Just be aware that they don’t truly send the colors in that picture. It seemed to me that I got a bunch of random (and a couple ugly) colors. I contacted customer service and they said that they send “based on availability”. It seems to mesh with one of the previous comments. Kind of shady.

I like Julep, but I wish I would have waited for another offer before I signed up. The nail polishes I received in the nice box are mostly awful. Mine has multiple shades of blue and orange. Yuck!

Shelby

They used to send a well-curated set of 12 polishes, but it seems to have gotten more random over the course of this year. My first non-monthly box order was completely screwed up – I got someone else’s order entirely, and wow, they had different taste than me! The customer service was great – I got to keep the mistake box of 10 polishes and other stuff, and they expedited my order to me.

Rosemary

That’s a shame. I don’t think they do things like that intentionally, but you would hope that they learn to mention that fact in the fine-print somewhere. I stopped getting their mystery boxes because I didn’t like 90% of the colors that I was sent.
The good thing about being a subscriber is that you can customize EVERYTHING each month. They will make a selection for you, but you can change very item if you don’t like their choices. Also, you can easily skip a month. And you start accumulating points that can be used towards monthly boxes.
I have been really harsh toward Julep at times, but despite my temper tantrums Julep is one of my favorite subs so far.

Jelly is like a jelly sandal. It’s pretty solidly pigmented, but translucent. Stardust is a full coverage matte glitter – although some seem a bit more satin than matte.

KimberlyB

Thank you so much, Brooke! I will try some of both of those next month. I usually don’t care for matte makeup on myself, but on the website the polish Sarai looked like a duochrome, just without the chrome, and sure enough, it’s a gorgeous green and blue, a little darker than a seafoam-type color. AND, in full sunlight (or a really strong artificial light) there’s a little shimmery effect going on. Love!

Does anyone use their skincare? I have a sub for my daughter but I have been tempted to get one for myself. What are favorite products?

Reply ButtonReply

Rosemary

Yes, I have used amost all of their skincare. and it is great (and also affordable if you subscribe).
I love the Love Your Bare Face Hydrating Cleansing Oil, and I don’t normally like oils for my face. I am out of it and actually miss it, so I am going to get some more.
What Your Skin Needs Restorative Facial Milk is great, but I use much more than a “few drops”.
No Limits Luxe Hydrating Crème is a basic, but effective moisturizer that I really like.
No Excuses Invisible Sunscreen Gel is fabulous…but I want a higher SPF for me.
Night Shift Deep Sleep Facial Mask is very rich, but I found it a little greasy for me (it got in my very fine hair overnight).
Love Your Bare Face Detoxifying Cleansing Stick was a miss for me (I was surprised).
The only thing I haven’t tried is Boost Your Radiance Reparative Rosehip Seed Facial Oil (I wish I hadn’t swapped it, as Julep’s skincare line is really good).
I have tried so many skincare brands (including La Mer, etc.) and I give Julep the thumbs up over so many overpriced brands. I have allergies and sensitive skin, and nothing has made me break out or has made my eyes red. I am also a 50-ish skincare junky.
I also swear by their Rethink Your Shower Body Wash/Oil…and I can’t find it on their site!!! I will have to be more careful of my stash of it, as it is fantastic for our dry Montana winters, and winter is coming! (I can’t believe I was able to salute GOT just then #FanGirlGoals).
There is a new sub that I have been tempted to sign up for, and that is Beauty Pie. I am reading a lot of really incredible reviews of their products, and it is inevitable that I am going to subscribe once I can whittle down my current skincare supplies.

Boost Your Radiance face oil is Awesome!! Thanks for the details on the other skincare You provided!!

Has anyone else had problems with items missing or incorrect items sent? This was the second month I had a missing and an incorrect item (out of 5 months). Customer service has been excellent, always been apologetic and fixed everything but I feel so guilty! Even though I haven’t done anything wrong, I still feel like they are going to start suspect I’m shady…and I really don’t want that since I love this sub! Lol. Just wondering if I was the only one since I’ve had some pretty bad luck with Tarte (2 out of 3 orders missing items) and the Summer FFF box (8 of my add ons missing!) too. Starting to feel jinxed….

justmissjamey

I’ve been with them 3 months, bought 6 add ons every month and placed two orders besides…two times they have sent me polish that were dried out and a third full, and forgot my add on bonus gift this month, then they forgot an item in my first month box…I dont know what to think…some of the polishes I get (jelly) just peel right off in whole chunks off my nail, some polishes are streaky and don’t dry down no matter what…BUT then there are a few that I love, and the whipped lipstick is phenomenal. .so I’m going to stay and hang with their skin care (rose oil is nice too) since I’ve got 49 polishes so far, so I’m excited to try more of their makeup Line now

I’ve been a subscriber nearly a year and until this month only been missing one item. This month I ordered two sets of the whole shebang each set with 7 nail polishes, 8 glosses, an eyeliner, and nail decays. All 34 pieces were missing from my box. I emailed no response. I called they sent me what they had in stock which took forever to arrive just got yesterday. Still waiting on the other 4 pieces. I’ve had a lot of problems with FabFitFun been a subscriber a year. My first box was missing an item they never did send the replacement. My third box hair product spilled everywhere on everything no replacement. I feel the same way. Why do I consistently have problems? At least Julep resolves the issues. FabFitFun never has I’ve considered cancelling because of it.

I’ve been a Julep lover for several months now, but two things I cannot figure out:

(1) What kind of motion do you use to get the caps off like that? I have not been able to do it.

(2) Is there somewhere on the site (or can someone tell me) that describes what those finishes mean, like Stardust and Jelly and such? Or are those general terms that most companies use, like matte and shimmer?

Julep was my very first sub box, and I thought every subscription box out there gave you the dozens of choices they do. I’ve been so spoiled (in a good way!) by them.

KimberlyB

Thank you so much, Jo and Melissa and Kathy and Shelby! I will definitely be trying (over a dropcloth!) to swatch my collection this weekend!

Reply ButtonReply

Shelby

The caps mostly come off with a firm pull. Once in a while i have to twist a little to loosen it up initially, but I have never had trouble with a cap after that first time.

Jelly is somewhat translucent, which means you get amazing depth with 2-3 thin layers. The stardust is a little rough and has a matte finish. The matte polishes are really gorgeous, too. The color just glows with intensity.

Reply ButtonReply

Kathy

Sometimes the caps can be hard to get off. I usually loosen the bottle a little and then gently try to wiggle it off. Be careful though because the first time I tried to take the cap off I broke the bottle- polish everywhere- it was a terrible mess!

Melissa

This isn’t the best guide I’ve ever seen to nail polish finishes, but it’s the only one I can find at the moment. Yes, sometimes Julep does try to be creative and come up with their own names for finishes, too. Jo’s reply is very good. I just thought I would give you a broader overview. Julep’s “Stardust” finish is similar to Zoya “pixie dust” if you have seen it.
