FabFitFun sends out a mini mag in each box. This time, it’s more of a newspaper style! It details the items included and also provides background on some of the featured makers and designers.

Every quarter, FabFitFun partners with a different charity, and for this box, the charity is Joyful Heart.

Now, time for the items!

Michael Stars Ruana – Value $54

This Ruana is a multi-use product that can work as a scarf, sarong, or wrap! It measures 41″ x 72″and it is 100% Viscose.

The fabric is super soft, lightweight, and a touch sheer – it’s a perfect warm weather material.

Here it is on as a wrap:

If you are an annual subscriber, you were able to select your Ruana print. If you’re a quarterly subscriber, you’ll be surprised by which print you receive. Here are the two other fabrics you may receive:

The Ruana takes up very little space, so it is great for summer travel packing!

Here is this one worn as a scarf:

And here is the blue print:

Here, I styled it as a sarong (ignore the over-jeans part!):

You know how some multi-use products can be complicated to use and get the look exactly right? This Ruana isn’t like that at all – I didn’t even need to look in a mirror for any of these looks.

Kris Nations Mystic Bar Necklace – Value $58

First, I love this glass bottle packaging! So cute!

This necklace has an adjustable length 16-18 inches:

The gemstone bar measures about 0.75″

This necklace is gold-filled, and it’s one of three options you may receive. Here are the other two colors:

This peach gemstone version:

And this sterling silver chain version:

Again, if you are an annual subscriber, you were able to select your necklace. If you’re a quarterly subscriber, you’ll be surprised by which necklace you receive.

On to the last color choice option!

BKR Bottle in Rosie – Value $35

(Subscribers will receive this bottle in this Rosie Pink shade or the Romeo Blue Shade.)

I have a few of these BKR bottles, and I love them! They are dishwasher safe, and the silicone is BPA and phthalate free, too.

These bright colors are so fun for summer, too!

And if you are an annual subscriber, you were able to select your bottle color. If you’re a quarterly subscriber, you’ll be surprised by which color you receive.

Here is the other color:

Juice Beauty Smoothing Eye Concentrate – Value $29

If you’ve read my reviews before, you might already know that I love the Juice Beauty brand! Their formulas are super ingredient conscious (organic + natural ingredients only), and most of the product have this subtle green apple scent!

This eye concentrate serum is one of my favorite Juice Beauty products I’ve sampled yet! It’s so gentle and creamy! The formula is very hydrating and it absorbed quickly into my skin, too.

Avene Eau Thermale Ultra-Light Hydrating Sunscreen Lotion – Value $24

Wow! Even though I saw that this product is described as “fast absorbing” with a “matte finish,” I couldn’t believe how quickly this formula transitioned into a matte finish as I rubbed it in!

The formula is fragrance, paraben, and oil free, too! It has a completely sheer finish, and it works great under makeup!

Cargo HD Picture Perfect Highlighter in Bronze – Value $30

The first thing I noticed when trying this highlighter out is just how silky the formula feels! The pigment concentration is excellent, and the shimmer is super fine – no worries about getting a glitter look!

It is super blendable, too. Here it is swatched:

Next up, all subscribers got the option to pick a mystery fitness item or a beauty item. Here is the fitness item:

Way of Will Post Training Massage Oil – Value $29.50

This brand is new to me, but as soon as I saw 100% natural ingredients, I had a feeling I would be a fan!

It’s meant to be used as a post-workout massage oil. The scent is a blend of Peppermint Essential Oil, German Chamomile Essential Oil, and Lemongrass Essential Oil.

I love the idea of using this as a post-workout treat. It smells so good! I’ll probably use it after showers, too.

And here is the alternative mystery beauty product. (You’ll receive one or the other):

Klorane Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk – Value $20

This dry shampoo is formulated without parabens or sulfates, and it is great for both absorbing oil and also adding texture and volume.

I used to only use dry shampoo on days when my hair was looking a little greasy. But now I use it every day for extra volume and texture. (And thanks to subscription boxes, I have plenty of dry shampoo to support this daily habit!)

And we have one more choice item! All subscribers were able to pick between a traveler, artist or chef item!

Here is the chef item:

Salted Himalayan Pink Salt Kit – Value $26

How beautiful is this set? It’s one of those items I’ll gladly display on my kitchen counter.

You use the grater to produce salt flakes that are great for finishing a dish. Giada De Laurentiis even included 3 recipes to try this with in the info booklet:

  • Pan Roasted Asparagus with Crispy Fried Egg
  • Bruschetta
  • S’Mores Popcorn

Here is the traveler mystery item (again, you’ll only receive one of these in your box):

Understated Leather Travel Set – Value $28

This set includes a luggage tag and passport holder in vegan leather.

Both pieces are well made, and the on-trend rose gold is gorgeous.

And here is the artist mystery item:

Amy Tangerine Art Kit – Value $22

This set includes a canvas (8X10 inches), stencil, acrylic paints, paint brush, and foam stamper:

I think this is such a fun DIY item to include, but if you are a serious artist, you might be disappointed in the quality of the paints/brushes.

(Amy Tangerine also includes tips for beginners on using this kit. And an idea for throwing an art party!)

Vital Proteins Marine Collagen Sample – Value $2.50

(This collagen sample is an extra in the box that doesn’t count toward the total value of the box for subscribers.)

I’ve been taking collagen powder daily for months now, and I’ve got some of my extended family hooked on it, too! (I’ve personally noticed an improvement in my skin and nails. My husband Eric noticed and improvement in his joints, and nail growth, too.)

Eric uses collagen in his coffee. (This will absorb in either hot or cold liquid.) Most people say they can’t taste the collagen when added to liquid, but I can! So I blend this into a smoothie that masks the flavor.

Verdict: Depending on the variations you receive, this box has a value of $272 to $287.50 (And that’s not counting any value for the FabFitFun TV channel access, or the bonus collagen.) As always, I find myself saying, “I don’t know how they do it!”

I’m so impressed with the high-end beauty brands FabFitFun is including lately. The Avene sunscreen, Cargo Highlighter, and Juice Beauty eye serum are all great quality items that are perfect for summer. And both the massage oil and dry shampoo options are fab, too.

I love all the Ruana prints, and the item is super versatile. (And delicate gold jewelry is always a win for me!) Oh! And the BKR bottle is great for summer, too! If you are going on a summer vacation, I hope you get this box before you leave!

What do you think of the Summer 2017 FabFitFun box? How do you feel about the mystery choice options this season?

Use coupon code MSA10 to get this box for only $40!

  1. looks like a good box, I wish didn’t pay extra for the travel thing. I am disappointed with that. And the Cargo Highlighter, but I plan to give that to my sister in law for her birthday. I am excited about the rest. I am excited about my add-ons too.

    • Yeah, wish I hadn’t paid extra for the travel option either. Won’t use either of those.

      • Me too. How lame.

        • I wish I didn’t pick the travel option, very lame. I am completely disappointed

        • Very disappointed in the travel option, it’s lame, I agree. Will never use it. Should of gone with the chief option.

          • Just noticed the fitness choice is dry shampoo, not good either, it makes my hair look more dirty then before I but it in, is it too late to cancel, the oil would have been better

          • The fitness item is actually the massage oil. The dry shampoo is a beauty item.

          • Agree 100%! 🙁

      • Agreed! I also paid extra for the art thing. Sigh.

        • Yeah, I chose the artist option and am disappointed. I’ll likely end up giving it to my 6yo niece.

    • I’m disappointed in the travel item too, but I HAD to choose it since I travel sooo often. Wish I had taken the chef item instead. Now I have to buy it :/

      • I totally agree. The travel item is not interesting at all, but that salt set is too cute!

      • Same! Otherwise a pretty great box for me, but wow do I ever wish I’d picked chef. I thought for sure they’d send something that everyone already has, like a spatula set or something.

        • I have a salt kit like the one posted and I got it at Whole Foods. You Just need to look around or google it if you really want something like it.

          • For others looking to find the salt grinder, it’s also on Amazon(my go to shopping spot).
Can get “chunks” + grater for only 10 bucks w/ prime shipping! (minus the wooden stand)
            search salt grater

    • I agree with you. Mine will be going up for swap.

    • Yeah, wish I hadn’t paid extra for the travel option either. Won’t use either of those. Maybe FunFitFab will do something extra special for the next box to make up for that???? I see a lot of people were not too happy with this option.

    • Yeah, the travel thing is cute. But that luggage tag would never withstand “travel” with that flimsy strap 🙁

    • I’d love to get the travel option and I’m bummed out I picked the artist instead. If anyone wants to trade, let me know!

  2. I’m really excited about this box! The only thing I’m not sold on is the ruana, but I’m hoping I’ll find a way to use it once I get it. I got the blue and now I’m sort of wishing I’d gotten the black one though. Also, I’m really glad that the ladies on the forum posted spoilers before the select period ended because I would have been really disappointed if I’d paid $20 to add the traveler and artists sets like I had planned. I’m really happy for the salt grater though, what a unique item!

    • Wish I had been paying attention to the forums …I’m annoyed that I paid extra for the artist kit and the travel kit. I’ll keep the cooking one though.

    • It’s disappointing that those spoilers weren’t shared outside of the forum!

      • They were more like guesses rather than spoilers. Not all of them were correct too.

        • Still, it would have been nice to see the guesses on here. If I had realized what type of beauty or travel thing was likely I would have switches to travel and kitchen just to have a better chance of liking them!
Sadly I only saw the pretty right on guesses after choice as over 🙁
I think if they were tagged w “guesses on a forum” very godly multiple times it would have been fine AND useful for people!
After all it was e closest thing to spoilers we got for them!

    • What do you mean when you say you paid $20 to add the traveler option? I though it was included in the subscription. Meaning that you could choose either chef, travel, or artist. Did I paid extra and did not noticed?

      • You could pay extra to add on the other 2 choices. So, I’ll get all 3 for an extra $20. I wish I’d held on to that $20!! 🙂

  3. I love all the ruanas!! I chose the black one and can’t wait to get it.

if anyone wants to sell their blue or beige ruana please let me know: jbenson4 unm.edu

    • I haven’t gotten my box yet, but if I do end up getting the beige ruana, I’ll send you a message! I’m not a select member so I wasn’t able to choose, and I’m not a huge fan of the pattern of the beige one 🙁

    • Jen,
are you still interested in buying the beige ruana? I tried to send a message to the e-mail address you put in your comment but it wouldn’t work.

  4. Wow after my first box, which was Spring 2017, this is a complete let down. The pink Himalayan salt that you have to grate yourself, the artist kit that looks appropriate for my 3 year old, and the travel things. None of these are useful. I have so many bronzers that they are coming out of my ears. The only things I will probably keep is the dry shampoo and the eye serum.

    • I agree. The spring box was awesome. This is a let down.

    • yeah, there’s actually nothing in this box that I’m looking forward to other than maybe the necklace. To make it worse, I got the extra travel and art add-ons. The ruana is ok – I think I can gift that at least. I’d love to wear it myself but it seems better for taller people.

      • Are the artist, travel, and chef items add-ons? This article is pretty misleading if so. Maybe I misread it but it implies they are something every subscriber gets?

        • You got to pick one of the personality choices (artist, chef or travler) and one of the bosters (fitness or beauty) to come with your box. If you wanted more then 1 choice each it was an extra $10 per extra choice. So potentially an extra $30 if u wanted to pick all 5 options. I hope that clears it up.

      • I knew that I didn’t want the necklace or ruana when the spoilers came out. I don’t really wear anything like the ruana. Plus the necklace I am getting is turquoise and gold. I am more of a silver girl. For the DIY I was hoping for a terranium. For the travel I was hoping for a nice weeekender bag or a neck pillow. So sadly I am getting none of what I hoped for. Now I am more excited for my add on’s

        • I was hoping for something similar, on the travel choice as well! I figured it would be some cool portable travel thing, maybe something unusual even! Usually FFF is better about not doing the norm of sub box stuff, but this month they didn’t do so well on that! (although the salt thing was unexpected for sure!)

        • I’ll trade you necklaces. I got the silver one

      • I received the necklace clasp was damaged. Quality very inexpensive.

    • I’d love the salt kit if anyone is interested in trading!

      • I am willing to trade my salt kit!

    • If you decide you want to trade for your salt thing I will trade for oil or something else if you want..

      • I will trade my salt kit!

  5. I wish I didn’t add the art or chef choice as extra…. I don’t like adding salt to anything and I already have full paintin sets. Thought the art kit would guide you to paint something specific like hose numbered pieces they have on amazon.

    • I’m interested in swapping the chef choice. I have the travel choice please let me know if you’re interested.

      • I wish I didn’t pick the travel option, very lame. I am completely disappointed, wish I picked the chef

  6. I know that that the fit item is the oil however is there ever going to be an actual exercise item to assist with the work out videos?

    • I was just thinking the same thing! They’ve had fit items in add ons like the hula hoop and roller ball I was so hoping for one of those as the mystery! I guess they figure the FFF Tv covers it… =/

    • FFF is really light on the Fit part of the boxes. It would be nice to include something we could use with some of the workout videos! I love tubing (not resistance bands) and the small resistance bands which you loop around your legs are awesome toning for the glutes.

  7. I am so disappointed that I picked the art add on =/ it looks really cheap and as an artsy person it doesn’t feel like something we would pick. The retail value is waaaaaay over stated for that, and I bet I could buy a kit like that for less than $10 at a craft store.
I also am disappointed in the dry shampoo, I ordered the Living Proof dry shampoo add on already! With as much dry shampoo as we all get in boxes I’m not thinking it will be a popular swap item.

In theory I like the idea of these choice products, but not when the value seems so different. Oh well, you live you learn.

I do like the rest of the box, though it makes me wish I could have done an add on instead that let me get all the necklace colors 😉

    • I’m normally not excited about receiving dry shampoo from a sub box. However, Klorane makes the best dry shampoo out there, imho. I’ve tried at least 15 different dry shampoos from various high-end and drugstore brands, and Klorane is hands down the best. I’ve been buying it faithfully from Sephora for the past two years. So, for once, I’m actually pretty psyched to be receiving dry shampoo!

    • I have not received my box yet, but if I get the massage oil I would be more than happy to trade for the dry shampoo!

  8. Ugh! I LOVE all the items in the box except the choice items…which I paid extra for. I paid for dry shampoo in my add ons as well…oh well, I guess I do use it a lot. They just don’t seem worth the 10 dollars for the extra…especially the artist option. I could buy all of that for 5 dollars at Michael’s. Hopefully I will be able to swap the things I don’t like.

    • I agree!!

  9. The chef item is SUCH a pleasant surprise! Love it! The stencil set is a bit of a let down but what can you do – $10 not very well spent, but this is still a great box.

  10. I was just thinking this morning I wonder when Liz will review the FabFitFun summer box and like magic here is the review today!!! I’m so excited to get my box! I’m seasonal subscriber so I’m excited to see which colors and prints I will get for the variations, and to be honest, I don’t remember what selected for the cooking travel and artist selections but I’m hoping for the luggage set! Love love love this box!

    • I am feeling a little underwhelmed by this box. After the Spring box, I had very high expectations. While I will most likely use everything, this box just didn’t wow me like some of the past fff boxes. Also, I am very disappointed by the artist item. I was so excited when they mentioned DIY in the description. I love DIY kits and projects. It’s just not what I was expecting. I’m wishing I would have just picked the chef item instead of opting for all three.

  11. I’m kinda bummed to be honest. This feels like a bit of a letdown compared to the amazing spring and winter box. I also don’t like the Rachel Zoe summer box so maybe summer boxes aren’t for me.

    • Agreed, it’s not my favorite box, but still good for me (I chose the Beauty Boost) and plenty of add-ons. I’m more excited about the add ons I purchased 😉

I love that suncreen so I’m actually thrilled there 😗

      • The sunscreen is actually perfect for me too! This is my first summer in humid Louisiana and I’ve had a problem with my foundation just sliding off my face! But I need to wear sunscreen. I did read the description for the sunscreen and get excited.

And I bought fun add ons too!

      • I am so excited to get a matte sunscreen. There are many days during the summer that I go out with only sunscreen and a lipgloss on my face, and I’m already naturally shiny. I’ll stop by a bathroom and have to pat down my face so I don’t blind anyone. 🙂 It will be nice to have a matte sunscreen instead!!

    • I completely agree. I was so disappointed in the Rachel Zoe summer box and now let down by Fab Fit Fun. I find all three choice selections underwhelming. I selected “surprise me” so we will see at what level of disappointment I will be. The travel set would be the worst. Now, the Popsugar LE summer box absolutely fantastic this season! Love every item!!

  12. Just my luck I made the wrong choices again. I can’t get dry shampoo to work in my hair. I was afraid the fitness item was some kind of body wipe or deoderant. I don’t have much use for fitness items which is another reason why I didn’t choose it.I would’ve loved to receive the body oil.

I also picked chef, but I’ll probably be gifting it because I won’t use the salt. My friend has a birthday and likes to cook so I think I’ll put a cooking basket together with other items, so that won’t go to waste.

    • For dry shampoo, the key is spraying it on and then waiting a couple of minutes to give it time to absorb the oil. For me, sometimes hitting it with a quick blowdryer after that wait time helps. Also, if you don’t want to use dry shampoo, but want the benefits it gives, try mousse and a 2-3 minute hit with a blowdryer. Most mousses have alcohol, which dries the oils, and will give your hair a little body if it’s a bit limp or greasy.

  13. I’m kinda annoyed I paid $10 for the art kit and the passport holder looks cheap 🙁 I wish a had chosen the chef option.

  14. SO happy I went with chef and workout boost! They are both very me! And if anyone wants to swap the bkr bottle I would love another, don’t care which color just use mine everyday and was informed by my mother that she wants one now too so looks like my one from my box is spoken for…(single mother so she gets to pick father’s day gifts to herself too lol)
Click on my name for swap profile! And Liz I love the blue style “skirt” on you!

  15. Another highlighter :-(. Also a little disappointed in the dry shampoo. It’s a good one but dry shampoo is like highlighter and has been so overdone in beauty boxes. FFF is usually more original… Besides that. I’m excited and I guess I’ll be surprised because I can’t remember what other options I picked (I think and hope it was chef)! Plus, I’ve got a ton of add ons coming with mine that I know I’ll love.

  16. Liz, this review/reveal couldn’t have come at a better time. I am having a heck of a day (and it’s my birthday) so this was a great way to wake up from a nap! Hopefully things will start turning around for me:)

It is great seeing you trying everything on!

Probably doesn’t come in 1st as far as FFF boxes goes but very close! They do a great job and I am even more excited for my summer vacay!

    • Happy birthday!

    • Happy Birthday!!!

    • Thanks, gals:)

  17. Should have gone with fitness – it’s the thing of the choice items I like best and the only thing I didn’t pick!

    • Same! I would love that oil.

    • You can have my oil. I won’t use it.

      • I will gladly trade my dry shampoo for the oil if anybody is game

  18. I choose the beauty and traveler options. The luggage tag and passport covers are nice, but I wish I would have chose the chef option! I figured the chef option would be one of those cookie/cake mixes so I decided against it. Slightly bummed that the beauty option is dry shampoo! Nothing against dry shampoo, but Klorane has literally been in every box. Overall this is another great box, and I will be happy with any of the bottle, necklace or wrap options I receive 🙂

    • Wish I had picked the chef item too! Since I don’t love to cook I quickly eliminated that from my choices, but it looks the best. Still, I will use the luggage tag/passport holder most likely.

      • I selected the chef option and honestly can’t see myself ever using it. I would be interested in trading for the massage oil if anyone wants to switch (:

        • how cute would it look on your kitchen counter though!

        • Yes I will gladly switch

  19. Yay! Great box and review. I’m happy with all my choices except the dry shampoo. Would have preferred the oil but oh well. There are so many fun products. I can’t wait to get my box!

  20. So glad I dropped the artist option and went with just traveler. That kit would not have been for me! That being said I already have a passport holder from Popsugar that is more my style (I love purple and the French language). My luggage also already came with it’s own luggage tag, so I may try and swap these or just keep on hand as spares. The chef option was probably the best, but we already use the salt block from bespoke post so we would of had no use for this one. For the most part everything will go to use! Glad we were able to choose beauty vs. fitness this season as well! I never workout, but I use dry shampoo every other day just like you Liz! Can’t wait for this box and my add-ons! This may not have been my favorite box to date but I still like everything! My favorite item is probably the ruana or water bottle. I chose blue for both!

Keep up the good work fabfitfun! The amount of detail that goes into making these boxes really shows you care. The design of the boxes each season, the little magazine, the charities, the add-ons and the choices are all a wonderful addition to the subscription experience. I also really appreciate that you focus on natural brands! 🙂

  21. I love this box. This will be my third FFF box and once again, it’s just really a good fit for me.

I took the Annual membership after my first box so I was able to choose my items. I went for the orange pink Ruana, the peach necklace, and the pink bottle, and they’re so good for the summer! I also picked beauty and a dry shampoo is perfect. Like you, Liz, i’ve been using them a lot more thanks to subscriptions.

I like the eye cream and sunscreen very much! Meh about the Cargo highlighter but honestly I don’t mind it if it comes along with such a good box.

And mainly, I picked all three; chef, traveler, and artist and thank God because all three products are so good. I only use Himalayan salt so I’m glad. I’m going to be making multiple trips over the summer so I love the passport holder. The DIY painting set is perfect for me because it’s just something I do for fun and not seriously.

+ the FFF TV is so great in general.

    • THANK YOU! I’ve been feeling like a crazy person scrolling through these comments of everyone hating on the whole box. It’s such a refreshing change to find a comment where someone is excited about the whole box. This is my only subscription box, so I DON’T get a thousand dry shampoos, and I AM excited that I only paid $10 for this one from Klorane, because I’m anxious to try something I haven’t tried before. And yes, I did pay for all the options (chef/travel/artist, and fitness/beauty), because I have huge FOMO. It’s maybe not all totally in my wheelhouse, but that’s why I signed up for this subscription. I’m just happy to get on trend stuff at a ridiculous discount, especially stuff that I wouldn’t necessarily purchase for myself.

      • I’m excited about the box as well. I normally end up choosing everything due to FOMO, but showed restraint and actually picked what was right for me. (Just 1 extra. I ended up with Chef, Traveler and Beauty.)

I do a lot of DIY, but based on the hint and clues in the Add-ons, I figured that the Artist choice was going to be that Amy Tangerine aesthetic, which isn’t mine at all. Plus I can’t imagine any crafty DIY stuff that I don’t have, and I probably wouldn’t use it anyways because I’m up to my eyeballs in DIY for my wedding.

I love the Chef choice item, I’ve never seen anything like it. I am not super excited about the traveler choice item because I have a passeport holder, but mine is completely utilitarian and not nearly as cute, so I may use it.

  22. I’m disappointed in the value of the choice items. With Spring, the $10 for the extra jewelry item got everyone about $50 in jewelry. I decided to add the beauty item for $10 which got me the $20 bottle of dry shampoo. I have enough and wouldn’t have spent the $10 on it if I knew that was what I was getting. I’m happy with Traveler though, I just wish the box would arrive before my summer vacation so I could use it!

  23. I like the box itself but the mystery items are awful. I chose all of them and 10 bucks for a stencil set I wouldnt pay 10 cents for, and another 10 for leather bound paper being sent to a vegan techie. I know what option Im skipping next time! The added value to the box also seems disproportionately low. Yay for the box but a huge booooo on the mystery items.

    • Just saw the travel stuff is vegan leather. I still hate it. Im off swapping right now so this is probably going straight to the trash can along with that stencil set.

      • If you’re going to just throw away the luggage tags, can you mail them to me instead? lol 🙁 I would, of course, pay shipping. My email is hhebert17 [at] gmail if you decide to take me up on my offer, but no pressure. 🙂

        • Heather, I’m getting the luggage tag and won’t be using it. You can have mine. I’m going to email you in a few to get your info. I haven’t received tracking # yet but I suspect I will get the box next week.

          • Awesome, thanks Karen!

      • Perhaps instead of putting those items into a landfill, donate them to a thrift store. It’s more eco friendly.

  24. Other than the blush and highlighter, I love this box, and am so glad I chose chef and traveler! And beauty over fitness.

  25. I think and I hope I picked the chef option!!

  26. I’m so happy !!! I love almost everything and I’m so happy I picked chef & added traveler… that rose gold set is so freaking cute !!! Can’t wait to get my summer box and add ons 😛

  27. Personally, I’m happy about the dry shampoo. I use it like you do Liz, as volume and texture every day. I wish it would have been the new one from Briogeo (sp?) or Boscia since they are new and likely not many have tried them yet – AND much closer in value to the fitness item, but I’ll still use it and be grateful for it! I too love the box design! The boxes are so cute, but I don’t save them just because they are cute. I’d love to see the designs made into postcards included in the box. I have lots of wall space in my cube for cute things like that!

  28. I didn’t pick any of the mystery items, will they still include something in my box? Sorry I’m a little confused.

    • Yes, if you didn’t pick, they will pick for you!

    • Yes, they will surprise you if you don’t choose one. 🙂

  29. I just ordered an annual subscription based on this review! I’m a little bummed I won’t be able to pick my choices for this box but thats okay, I’ll get to pick the next 3 🙂 Fingers crossed I get the black/white or blue/white Ruana! I also don’t want that artist choice, that doesn’t appeal to me at all (I have way too many art supplies as it is).

  30. I can’t believe how cheap the artist DIY option was considering that was the one I was really looking forward to seeing. I still love the box but I have to say this time around I’m kind of shocked there was no hero item. So happy I didn’t throw another summer box into my add ons. I guess with all the really cool summer add ons like the blow up bag chairs, and pool and the bags I guess I just got over excited at the prospects.

    • I’m the opposite – I LOVE that there’s no hero item in this box. So often it happens that if the hero item is a miss for you then the whole box is a miss because it’s most of the value. This way, you get even more items and there’s really something for everyone.

      • That’s a pretty good point too. Then again if the hero item is a miss for me I can generally swap it for something great from another box.

    • I’m very disappointed in the $10 per upgrade price point. I had fitness, beauty, travel, and art. For spring the values where $75-$80 per. This time it would have been a better deal to have ordered add ons. I am not happy to have gotten that brand of dry shampoo and find the art kit very cheap. This is the first time I can recall being disappointed in FFF.

  31. Great review! I love the different styling ideas for the Ruana. I ordered the black but am planning to try and swap for the blue one too! I’m bummed that the fitness item is massage oil, but maybe I’ll try it and like it 🙂

    • I am going to try to swap my blue for the black. I am on the swap site!

  32. I LOVE THIS BOX SO MUCH. I’m honeymooning in Ireland in August, the travel items are PERFECT. My fiancé will LOVE the salt block. This and Rachel Zoe are all I’ll ever need. And BeautyFix. And BoxyCharm. That’s it though. 😍😜

  33. There are 2 things I’ll swap, but I’m a super happy camper!! I would even love to swap for extras.

    • I don’t know how to add a new comment, so I’m replying to you– sorry!

I made bad choices for this one– got the passport holder and the dry shampoo, but wish I got the massage oil and salt!

I’m also swapping the ruana and bronzer. If anyone wants to swap, I’m Micole at http://swap.mysubscriptionaddiction.com/user/11660/profile.

      • The summer box needs to come earlier in June. I would have loved this for my summer vacation, but I will have left already by the time it arrives. And also, the boxes are shipping later than expected due to unexpected demand. I am also not excited about more dry shampoo!

  34. If I reactivate my account, is there a way for me to select between the fitness/beauty and chef/traveler/artist options? I know that since I’m not an annual subscriber I won’t get to pick my colors for those, but I would like to be able to select the salt kit and dry shampoo.

(I did login and it’s showing that I would have to purchase/pay with no option to select, but not sure if it comes after you buy the box.)

    • There may only be one option left for each one…I know when it came closer to the 4th, there was a warning that if you deselected one of your options, it may not be available any longer, because they were selling out. I’d email/chat FFF directly

      • Thanks for the tip! I will do that.

      • I just talked to FFF chat and they said when customization ended on June 4 that meant everyone, including new subscribers, will get totally random options in their box. They did say no items have been confirmed as being sold out, though. This is a big miss for me. When there are variations this huge we should have the option of selecting.

        • So you’re saying that now after seeing all the spoilers people should still get to choose? That’s kind of unfair to the people who stick to the deadline and are annual subscribers. That’s their little cherry on top that they get.

          • You’re right, that’s a great point. FFF is usually better than other sub boxes at giving perks to current subscribers over new ones. I guess I’m saying that I personally don’t like this whole mystery option variation in the first place, because even for current subscribers who got to pick “artist” still didn’t know what they were getting.

  35. Another great FFF box! My only disappointment is the dry shampoo; would have much rather had the massage oil. The salt kit looks incredible! The Cargo looks like it will be a good multi-tasker. Will try to swap to get the black ruana in addition tho the blue one I chose, and the other two colors of the necklace (I chose turquoise) because they’re all beautiful.

  36. Thanks Liz, I will take anything that includes a good eye cream, I also love Avene products, they are excellent. I am really excited about the salt grater, I feel like this is a really fresh idea for a subscription box, I love that I have nothing like this at home.

  37. Another great box! I Love the chef option and I’m happy that I added it.

  38. Ugh apparently summer boxes are not for me. I don’t like this box nor the Rachel Zoe one. I guess I’ll have a lot of swapping to do. And I’m tired of seeing Cargo cosmetics in boxes, they’re not that great. I don’t really like how you get a mystery item based on your preference choice though. I don’t like when boxes send variations, I like everyone to get the same thing lol. The salt thing is cool, I just don’t care for salt lol. The passport holder and luggage tag are pretty, I just don’t own a passport or fly anywhere.

  39. That is literally the only dry shampoo I will use, so I’m fine with that inclusion. The artist option, however… 🙁 Man, I’m regretting not choosing the chef option!

    • I usually cannot use dry shampoo due to the powdery smell. It makes me sneeze all day. Does this one have a powder smell?

  40. Yay it’s a great box! I was just telling a friend I wish somebody would include a blush and that highlighter might be dark enough to work but if not it still looks beautiful. I went ahead and got all the hobby choices, the artist isn’t my thing…I’m guessing one of my twins will confiscate it. Thanks for the review Liz and have a fabulous day!

  41. Another great box. My favorite items are the necklace (I chose the peach) and the salt kit. I’m glad I didn’t choose the artist or travel options as they weren’t for me. It’s great they let us choose a category as I’m so happy with the chef item.

Thanks, Liz, for showing us all the options. Reinforced that the necklace I chose (peach) and the ruana (blue) were the right choices.

  42. hum; nice box! If i were to order now; do you get to pick a pattern / color or do they just pick for you?

    • I don’t think so Susan. It happened to my friend when she purchased the spring box after the deadline. She wasn’t able to choose.

    • Once item selection closes that’s it. If you order now and they aren’t sold out, you will get random everything.

  43. Just slightly disappointed that the beauty item is a dry shampoo, but I use them often enough that it’ll come in handy. everything else looks great. I chose chef and traveler, and both items are really cool! Very much looking forward to seeing which color options I receive. I won’t be disappointed in any of them, except maybe the brown ruana.

    • I agree. Dry shampoo is not what I expected for “beauty”, but I guess I will use it, so….

  44. Glad I went with all 3 choice options, but in my opinion the chef option is by far the best. I do a lot of artsy-projects, and I’m disappointed in that option. Will still use it, but they could have done something more creative.

  45. That eye serum from Juice Beauty is actually the one and only eye product that I’ve used and ACTUALLY see results! So happy to see it in FFF box!

    • I’m so glad to hear it!! I need to buy one right now, so I was excited to see it in the box!

  46. Love the box design this month!

  47. As a very picky sunscreen user, I am so excited to try that Avene! It looks awesome and I love the ingredients. I’m not wild about highlighters, but I’ll give it a try (plus I can always use it as an eyeshadow).
I’m really excited to get this box, too bad I have weeks to go before mine even ships D:

  48. thank you for such a thorough review, Liz!!

  49. Great box! So excited to get this! I’m super happy with my choices. Thanks FFF and Liz!

    • So glad you’re excited! Which options did you pick?

      • I got the traveler, chef, fitness and beauty! I’m not an annual subscriber but any of the annual choices are good with me!

  50. Not bad! This will be my first box, and I have to say that all items seem like they are of good quality and can be used every day.
Thank you for the review, Liz!

    • Yay! What a great first box. I completely agree about the quality. Hope you love it! 🙂
