Zomben Comic – Value $3.99

My little girl is getting so big! This was the first thing she picked up from the box and she didn’t put it down until she was finished. I’d say she liked it. This was just released at the end of April too! Here’s the description:

After surviving the ‘Multipocalypse’, Ben tries to live a normal life, hiding the fact that he is infected with a zombie plague. His new friends have just found out … and they think it’s kind of cool. Together, they’ll face killer robots, missing moms and the threat of new apocalypses. Plural.

National Geographic Kids Magazine – $4.99 (single issue)

My daughter loves getting this magazine in her box each month. This month she talked about what she the “Extreme Weirdness from Around the World.” There were a great lion poster and some cool inserts this month too.

Heart Alarm Clock – Value $9.99?

We’ve been looking at alarm clocks for our daughter lately so we’re happy to receive this item. It’s definitely on the cheaper side and it is not intuitive to set but it’s a good start and Cira really liked it. I can’t find this clock online so the price is a guess.

Okay, this is just funny and cute too. I like it, Cira likes it – we’re happy with this shirt.

Disney Princess Jewelry Set – Value $7.99?

I couldn’t find an exact match for the set I received (except on Amazon for almost $30) but the $7.99 set at Walmart is a better match in price for the quality. It must be difficult to send toys for the 6-11-year-old age group but my daughter is almost 8 now and Disney is out for us. We’ll gift this one.

Verdict: My daughter really looks forward to getting Nerd Block Junior for Girls but I’m kind of on the fence about it. My daughter loves getting new toys but typically there is at least one item that either is defective or completely not usable for us. This month was better than the last few for us because Cira liked most items in the box. Although we like the t-shirt, I wish Nerd Block Jr. (and ShirtPunch) would separate the sizing by gender so it would fit better.

This box $19.95 plus $9.95 shipping which seems high for a t-shirt and a couple toys my daughter likes each month but there is also at least one gift item for current or future use. The monetary value is usually pretty high but it isn’t good if you only use/like a couple items each month. The May Nerd Block Junior for Girls included $45.91 worth of toys for a $30.00 box (includes shipping cost).

  1. We signed up for a 3 month subscription, and so far April and May have been terrible. Now June is shipping late because of a “defective item”, so I don’t have high hopes for June either.
The Alarm clock has already been thrown away, we actually got a better one at our local arcade as a prize for turning in tokens…it has lasted longer than this heart.
The Disney jewelry set has already had the cheap plastic charms fall off.
We don’t have the Disney Infinity game ( which Disney has stopped production off ), so that’s worthless, and the Dorbs “Gaurdian of the Galaxy” figure is not appropriate at all for a children’s box with an age range of 6-11.
Also including multiple comic/magazines seems like the cheapest “filler” I have come across for a child’s box.
The only thing my daughter has actually enjoyed are the shirts. Which are oversized, and are unisex sizing, so she uses them as nightshirts. We will not be re-subbing, and DEFINITELY won’t be recommending Nerd Block. We use to subscribe a long time ago, I think the box was around $15 w/ $6 shipping, and now its $20 w/ $10 shipping.
What a total scam and waste of money.

  2. I agree about the shirt size. My daughter is skinny and the shirt fits her really big even though its a small. Wish they did XS and in a girl fit. This box isn’t worth it for me since she doesn’t fit in the shirt.

  3. I got the nerd block jr. For boys last September before the price increase and my grandson loved it…but I’m not sure he would like the current boxes and with the current price I probably won’t get it for him again which is really sad for us.
