  1. Why did they remove the toner from April’s box? i was ready to cancel but thought I would wait until I got April’s box. Looks like I will end up canceling now. I get much better items in my Ipsy and Sephora boxes for less money. I thought Allure would be a lot better since they are the beauty experts. So sad.

    • Allure used to be great, simply awesome, like in the first half of last year. It’s just not the same subscription anymore, that’s why everybody is complaining.

  2. I cancelled today. I have had issues with them for over a year. First it was during the whole crazy Luna foreo thing, I call because my box was getting pushed to next month. When I politely asked if my box was being pushed the be lady flipped out on me and transferred me to the manager, me in my confusion had said I’m sorry did I say something wrong? That was the point the manager picked up and I explained that I wasn’t sure why I was transferred. She was polite and said she would address the issue with that rep. Then I get a thank you for referring someone box…It was samples with coupons, coupons expired the year prior. I look up the box and it’s one from a year ago. I email them and say hey, thanks for the box..Then I explain it’s expired. The response was a nonchalant message basically saying​ sorry that happened. And no follow up no other box was sent. This was 5 months ago. The person I spoke with today​ to cancel offered me a free box to stay. (Exact words “if we send you a free box will you stay?”)She was the first polite person I spoke with immediately when calling, however I’m done with them.

  3. Help please! Everyone is talking about canceling & skipping; I just spent 25 min on the website, logged in, and CANNOT figure out how to cancel or skip! I tried live chat and it’s not open. I subbed to the 6 month deal for a discount that I prepaid for but now I notice they’ve been charging my card each month as well. I don’t care for the last 2 boxes they’ve sent and really don’t want this one, I just want out! Please and thank you in advance!

    • They just got rid of the cancel and suspend button a day or two ago. So, your going to have to wait until the morning to chat with them to cancel. As for the 6 month deal. It was for the first 6 months for $10, then $15 after that. There was no automatic cancellation after the 6 months is up, it just keeps continuing. until you cancel. You should be able to cancel in the morning if they didn’t charge you yet…

    • You didn’t prepay for 6 months. They charge you as you go. The monthly charge should be the only charge they do.

    • This worked for me. Make sure you have the mailing label from a previous box. Get the toll free number from the web site. There is a 3to 5 minute delay before you get a vs person. They will ask you basic info from your label to bounce against the info in your file. They will politely try to get you to stay-4 months at ten bucks per, firmly decline, and that’s the end. Good cs.

  4. I used to love Allure but haven’t been happy with the last few I cancelled the other day without knowing what was in this box, I’m happy I did..

  5. I was thinking about canceling earlier this month. I just did, I want to love them (I enjoy their info and peppy additude) but I just haven’t liked the samples or rather my face hasn’t. I’m currently fighting a major breakout in a clear smile line of pimples from a cream I got.. my skin is yelling at me, so I’m cutting back on experimenting anyways.
    I noticed the cancel button is gone so that’s inconvenient.

    • Yeah no more button to suspend. They won’t let you suspend or skip a month at all now. You have to cancel or pay for every month. I just wanted to suspend for a month or two but once I realized they took that option away I was like okay jerks than I will just cancel and won’t ever resub. Then I had to email them and wait a day for a reply that my account is now canceled. That was a very stupid move on their part. I would have stayed subbed but now they lost a customer and I’m sure I won’t be the only one.

      • Humm.. I actually just suspended my account, right before they got rid of the suspend button. I’m wondering what’s going to happen now? Maybe I’ll have to chat with them to unsuspend my account when needed, or I’m wondering if they just cancelled it.

        • I cancelled mine a few days ago. Luckily I did it in time!!

  6. I canceled last week when this was posted I did not need anything! I am down to just the small Love with food box, getting board with this now.

I agree I actually subscribed to this box because every review I would see in msa looked great so when I saw the 4 month’s for 10 dollars I subscribed right away but it seems like right when that deal started the value of the box went down. Maybe on may the box will be better on April it will be the 4th box for 10 so it will be the last month of the deal.

    • Well, this one has a value of about $78, for $10 that’s pretty incredible! Everyone has their own tastes though, I would just say to not expect every single month to be a personal winner. It always opens up the opportunity to gift or donate!

      • I don’t buy to gift or donate. The products have gotten smaller and they have moved back on overall quality this last year. There are many other places I can spend my money. I used to love this box, but not anymore.

        • It’s funny you just said that. I thought It was just me. So many people say, “if you don’t like what you get just gift or donate it”. In my mind I’m always thinking why would I spend my money on something I want every month to just gift or donate it to someone else. No one ever seems to feel the way I do until I just read your post lol. At least I’m not the only one.

          • No, you are definitely not the only ones. 🙂

          • Forgot to add: this is why I mercilessly cancel my subscriptions if I am unhappy with the curation two or more months in a row.
            Some subscriptions I’ve even canceled after only receiving them once, if I could tell that the direction they take is not what I am necessarily interested in (and especially if they are on the pricey side, like TestTube).

  8. Sorry for the off-topic again, but I wonder if there is a general discussion board here on MSA? Not pertaining to any one particular box, but discussing various boxes in general?

    Also, I am new to swapping, so I have several questions regarding that.

  11. What is going on with Allure? They are not the awesome box I used to love. Plus, I received my quad in the January box shadows shattered and they said they sent a replacement. Still nothing. They said they are sending another. The excitement is dying.

    • This exact thing happened to me! Still waiting and they apparently “sent another” as well. They’ve just been downhill lately 🙁

      • This happened to me last year and I kept complaining, I ended up with 3 small bottles of Estée Lauder night repair and 2 of their eye serums. I got 2 make up foever mascaras also. They kept saying my item was sent out and 2 months later I finally got it all in separate packages. Just don’t let up, they want you to forget.

    • The eyeshadow quad is TERRIBLE! The colors don’t blend at all and have zero pigment. Drug store shadow is better than that junk.

      • I said this before- people are wrong to look down on drugstore brands. Item price in and of itself doesn’t mean much when it comes to cosmetics.
        I personally think the Coastal Scents eyeshadow palettes are pretty amazing, and for the amount of product you get they might even be the cheapest on the market.

      • Btw, the BeautyCounter mascara flaked like crazy on me, which was too bad because I liked the initial application. I literally did not have that much flaking with any drugstore brand mascara I ever used, even the $2 N.Y.C. (New York Color) one, which is actually very similar to the BeautyCounter one in how it goes on.

        • I didn’t like the BeautyCounter mascara either

          • Hated it. Well people from the target box was awesome though!

    • My January box was missing the brush. I’ve emailed them 5 times since and all 5 times they said they’d send another. Still nothing. I’m done!

    • You will have to call. Or email. The suspend button has disappeared from the account.

      • I just noticed that, I can’t do anything with my account. I emailed, but I will chat or call them tomorrow just to be sure.

        • Shoot have been trying all day will call tomorrow. Use to be my favorite. 😟

  13. If that AHAVA lotion is what I think it is, it has an incredibly overwhelming fragrance to it. I got a sample in a beauty kit and absolutely couldn’t stand it and had to give it away. Ugh.

    Just a heads-up for my fellow scent-sitive peeps.

    • I have a small hand cream from them and it smells old ladyish 🙁

    • I keep watching for it! I am subscribed to like 4 boxes but it’s the target box I am most anxious for every month!!

  15. Dangit! I was hoping that all the products in the first spoilers box were wrong, LOL. Replacing the toner with a heavily fragranced body cream is not a step up for me. I’m not too excited about this box. Hopefully May’s box will be better.

  16. Off topic, but Indie Beauty Expo is now showing the full contents of their “2016 Best In Show” box which MSA posted about on January 21st. In MSA’s original post, screen shots of full-sized versions of the products were shown, but now they’re showing what the box & it’s contents actually look like. Just go to indiebeautyexpo dot com, then click “Shop”.

    • Oh! And, it’s over a $650 value! This was mentioned in an email I just received from them a couple of hours ago. However, I don’t see the value mentioned on their website or MSA’s original post.

    • Speaking of off topic (hope Liz doesn’t mind): today I just discovered the Canadian brand “The Ordinary”, which offers excellent super-cheap skincare products. Hope this information will be as useful to someone as it was to me.

      • Love The Ordinary! Actually I just made a large purchase there a week ago. Their prices are amazing. Look Fantastic is actually giving a bonus The Ordinary moisterizer if you subscribe to their beauty box!

          • I checked out Beautylish before ordering, but same here, they were sold out of 3 of the products I wanted. So, I went with Deciem Store instead.

          • My order from a week ago, said free shipping on $25 or more. But I ordered way over that anyway, despite everything being so cheap. It’s like the dollar store, where everythings a dollar, so you fill up your cart being it’s so cheap, and then you end up walking out with $60 worth of stuff..lol. Oh.. also, I guess they are a bit backed up on orders because when I checked out, they said that they were behind and that it would take about 10 days before my order could be filled.

          • Well, yeah, I am guessing people would rather not pay upwards of $150 per serum if they don’t have to :-), so everyone is jumping at the opportunity.

          • Yay!! My The Ordinary order actually just shipped now! I don’t have to wait so long after all! I can’t wait to get it!

          • I thought I ordered my The Ordinary package about a week ago, but it turns out, I ordered it on on the 27th of March. It just arrived today! That was super fast shipping, especially being they said they backed up on orders. I’m so excited!!! I already want to order more!

            I love them all! The Retinol 1% has the texture of the Smashbox primer, which is amazing! I am so happy with everything that I just got done making another order for 4 more The Ordinary products! I can’t wait to get them too! I like the fact that the line is affordable and that their products are made to be layered. This just may be my new favorite skin care line! I hope this shipment takes just as quick as the last one.

          • Oh, and one last thing – they look quite pretty! I just wish the labels were different colors so that it was easier to tell what’s what, but I am impressed with the boxes, they look and feel so high-end.

          • I see what you mean – I got a shipping notification from them yesterday, and the actual shipment today. Turns out they have local distribution centers, who’d have thunk it.

            I ordered The Buffet, Niacinamide, Azelaic Acid and the fluid primer. On to beautiful skin! lol 🙂

      • I believe Lookfantastic was giving away a full-sized moisturizer from The Ordinary (the one that was in their February(?) box), to new subscribers. I’m not sure if that promo is still going on though.

        • I don’t think they still have the promo, because as it happens I subscribed to Lookfantastic two weeks ago, and I didn’t receive it in my box. 🙁
          But oh well, I can afford to order. 🙂

  17. I don’t get it, when are they going to restart the Doucce eyeshadows? Wasn’t there supposed to be one every three months?

  18. I am not having good luck with Allure. I only want to have one account going and between me and their CS we cannot figure out how to do it! Either I get two or zero and when I go to reactivate, I get a second box for the same month, etc. Anyway, after I chatted with them last month and asked to have only one sub going and March box hasn’t arrived, I guess I’m suspended. Fine with me, I’m tired of troubleshooting this account. There are plenty of other fish in the sea.

  19. This was my second month skipping and the box previous to those I swapped. I really hope that they get back to the boxes I fell in love with. They have also said that they sent out a replacement dry shampoo that was missing twice, I have yet to receive it. Get your act together Allure, there are way too many fabulous boxes out there to deal with your halfassed ways.

  20. I got both the lotion and eye cream in my Amazon box…luckily I like both, but bummer to trying new things.

  21. I went ahead and deactivated my account from the website. Maybe when I see a better box I will reactivate, but the last couple boxes have been a little underwhelming and I have spent quite a bit the last few days on mystery boxes. At least I can say this amount is being applied towards them.

    • Do you have to speak to a rep to do this or can you do it automatically on their site? I’m not seeing it.

      • To de-activate/cancel your subscription, you’ll need to click the “Discontinue” button once you’ve signed into your account.

        • Interesting. I don’t have that button! It’s literally not there!

          • It used to be there, but it’s gone!!! 🙀

          • Probably too many people were unsubscribing, lol. 😀

          • yep, the suspend button is gone. It still says my subscription is suspended but the option to restart it is gone.

  22. I suspended my Allure account. Nothing I would use except for the eye cream. Just not worth it for me. I would have got this month’s if the toner was included. Really wanted to try it. Now the box looks blah to me. Allure used to be one of my favorites, but for the past couple month’s, they really went downhill. I want the old Allure back!

  23. I’m happy. I would have loved to try the toner, but I know I love the lotion so I’m good. Plus it’s the only one my husband will use so I’ll take all I can get.

  24. Oh, and Ahava products smell like Grandma’s attic 🙁

    • I find all Ahava products to be extremely fragranced in general. It’s not good for the skin, any fragrance is an irritant, let alone in such huge amounts.

  25. Thankfully, I cancelled. Does anyone know when the Thrills box is set to start?

    • No idea, but I do know that I will not be preordering at a premium again this year like I did last.

      • I agree! I had a horrible experience with that service and ended up getting a partial refund of the prepaid fee (Allure had cancelled my last box which I prepaid for in April 2016!) After several “heated” calls, the box and the refund for the box arrived in February 2017.

        Together with these lackluster monthly Allure boxes, I am currently suspending one of my monthly boxes indefinitely. I have 2 months to go on the 2nd subbie ($10 for 6 months) and when that is done, I am dropping that subbie altogether.

    • I believe it’s been discontinued.

      • I doubt that.

        • I’ve seen more than one person mention that, and I when I Google it I don’t see the option anywhere to buy it again.
          In my opinion it was a really poorly executed beauty box anyway, it contained almost no makeup, mostly haircare.

    • Last year, I believe it didn’t go on sale until almost May (or even early May).

    • December was terrible and was the first one I didn’t order in years. I couldn’t believe they didn’t offer a coupon for it! It used to be the best, I really wish it would get back to being awesome!

Allure has by far the worst costumer service :/ I tried to skip the month of february since I wasn’t going to be in the country and they just shipped it to me. when i contacted them they said they will cancel my subscription (which wasn’t what I wanted) but I should just return to sender (live in a building so i called the front desk to request them to retuern it) I contacted them and they said I need to wait 60 days to even request a refund…. wtf? D: horrible!

  30. Surprisingly, I’m running low on body lotion samples. I’m willing to give this box a shot though the quality of the Allure boxes seem to be slipping.

      • You can cancel under your account page. “Discontinue” that is what I did a couple of months ago. Hope that helps.

      • I didn’t see a discontinue button, but just cancelled using their live chat-was super quick.

    • Don’t forget about Peels! I have at least 3 peels in addition to loads of exfoliaters. And don’t even get me started on highlighters black eyeliners and red lipsticks! I could peel, exfoliate, and highlight a small village, then make them up with defined eyes and Ruby lips!

  36. As I am still waiting for my March box to arrive (it’s only the 30th!) …nothing here really stands out. Hope there are variations in colour to the lip liner…brilliant red is not my go to shade. I was kind of hoping for a new Doucce shadow for spring.

  37. Well…….I LOVE that lotion. But…I reallllly wanted to try that spray. Bummer-ish.

    • That lotion is great! But its blowing up in my down disount stores. Got a 2 pack (body + hand, 1.3oz each) at burlinton for $0.70 cents!!!! (christmas packaging…just the box though, the lotion packagin is yhe same) and saw them at marshalls too. Go go go!!
