Rococo Chocolates - Dark Basil & Lime - Value $10.00
Dark chocolate, basil, and lime are three things I would never think to put together. I love all three of them separately, but together? I was a bit nervous. No need, though, I really loved this! It was complex but smooth and really worked well for me.
Boissier Milk Chocolate - Value $7.00?
This bar was a really solid milk chocolate bar. While searching for this candy bar online, I ran across the chocolate pearls from Boissier. They look divine! I'm not sure I would pay the money for them but these would be an awesome stocking stuffer.
Gusto Fireweed Honey Bar - Value $8.50
Chocolate and honey are two of my favorite things, so added together I was in heaven. I loved the sweet honey flavor melding with the dark chocolate here - it was perfection.
Pitch Dark and Jasmine Pearl Tea Co. Matcha and Nib - Value $12.00
This is a pretty unusual pairing in my book but I loved it! The chocolate and matcha flavors worked so well together and the crunch from the cacao nibs was the perfect texture component to the bar. This company is based out of Portland and so many of their bars look delicious!
Taza Chocolate - Stone Ground - Hazelnut Crunch - Value $1.70
I was first introduced to Taza Chocolate from Chococurb. I absolutely loved the first chocolate bar I got (the Salted Almond) and this one is no different. I love the texture of it - it's so different from regular chocolate. It's a little more grainy, which I love. The flavor is excellent and it's nice and crunchy.
Askanya Dark Chocolate Bite-Size Bar - Value $0.90
Askanya Chocolate is the first (and only) bean-to-bar maker in Haiti. I really enjoyed this little bite sized dark chocolate bar and would love to try their other flavors. The chocolate itself was really smooth, and not too sweet.
Verdict: This Chococurb shipment has an approximate value of $40.00. I think that's pretty great for an artisan chocolate box! Chocolate is expensive to produce, store, and ship because it is such a delicate product. The chocolate in this box arrived a bit soft, but the chocolate all looks great and it didn't affect the taste or look of the chocolate that I can see. I really love this box - I get introduced to new brands and flavors that are unexpected. In short, this is definitely a luxury box - but if you have a chocolate lover in your life, this would be a great gift for the holidays!
