There wasn’t a traditional information card with this box but there was a card with a link to find out more about the items in the box.
There was also a card with more information on brewing tea.
Mullein and Sparrow Facial Steam – Value $11?
The value here is a guess because this doesn’t have the same packaging as on the Mullein and Sparrow website, and I couldn’t find a weight on the bag. I could be off by $5 or more depending on the package weight. Anyway, this is marketed as a facial steam for detoxifying the skin, but you can also drink it as a tea. I did try it as a tea and, as you might expect, it tastes like flowers (see more photos below).
Liddabit Sweets Sea Salt Caramels (3.25 oz) – Value $7.99
These are delicious. They are pretty heavy on the sugar and dairy, which is probably why I like them. I feel like I have been to the Liddabit website before, but I can’t quite remember why. Anyway, I went back to research the item for this review and it was very hard to leave without spending like $80…

Hand-Carved Kenyan Tea Spoon – Value $3
These spoons are made from olive wood and about 20 families are employed to produce them. I think it’s great that traditional artisans are being supported, and I think the beads add a festive touch. (Plus, it’s nice to get tea accessories that are different from the usual strainers and such.)
Justea Mount Kenya Black Loose Leaf Tea (100 g) – Value $10
This is a whole leaf black tea. I have been drinking it all day at work, repeatedly using the same leaves for brewing, and the most recent cup is still pretty good. This is apparently high caffeine so we will see if I am up late tonight…seriously, though, I needed a good black tea to take to work and this fit the bill nicely.
Here’s a photo of the black tea leaves.
And here’s a close-up of the facial steam.
Finally, here is the brewed tea. On the left is the facial steam and on the right is the black tea.
Verdict: I calculated a value of $30.99 for the October Tea Box Express. That is possibly a little low since I don’t know the size of the facial steam/flower tea, which may be as much as $5 or even $10 more. (And don’t forget to use our MSA20 coupon to get an even better deal on the subscription!) I loved the variety of teas this month and thought it was neat that the facial steam could be used two different ways. Plus, the accessory was fun and different and the caramels were wonderful. I find Tea Box Express to have a really nice mix of tea, treats, and accessories, and this month was no exception.
