Chococurb has the right idea when it comes to shipping chocolate. They shipped it in a cooler. A cooler with ice packs and a metallic bubble wrapper around the chocolate, to be specific! All the chocolate I received arrived perfectly unmelted…some subs could take a page from Chococurb for sure!
JCOCO Black Fig Pistachio in 72% Dark Chocolate – Value $7.95
First up, we have a trio of black fig pistachio bars in dark chocolate from JCOCO.
Look at that packaging! How gorgeous is that? I love the color of the outside packaging, along with the color of the foil, and the artwork on the outer packaging on the bars.
The flavor of this bar was unbelievable. It was so good. I’ve not had a flavor combination that works this well in quite a while. The figs were perfectly chewy, the dark chocolate a perfectly bitter contrast to the sweet figs, and the pistachios add that nice crunch and salty tang.
Leonidas Dark Nibs Bar – Value $3.16
This bar is a dark chocolate bar with cacao nibs inside. When I was in Belgium last year, I actually stopped in a Leonidas shop and ate some of their delicious chocolate. It was fun to get a bar from a place I’ve visited in my box this month!
I enjoyed the flavors of this bar but it is definitely dark chocolate. If that’s not your jam, you might want to find something else to satisfy your sweet tooth.
Vivra Chocolate – Thai Satay Bar – Value $7.50
I wasn’t sure what to think of this bar when I pulled it out of my box this month. It looked so different I couldn’t imagine the flavors working with chocolate.
It was so delicious! I can’t even tell you, you need to try one. It was peanut buttery, with the warmth of sesame, and the cooling milk chocolate. At first, I thought, this isn’t hot at all… I can’t even taste the chili…and then it snuck up on me. Don’t eat too many squares at once! You’ll be in some serious pain from that chili.
Verdict: I loved my Chococurb Mini this month. The value is about $18.61, which is a decent value for me. I loved being introduced to the two new brands (JCOCO and Vivra), and the flavors of all three bars were phenomenal. While the value is a bit under the cost of the box, I almost expect that with an artisanal chocolate box. Chocolate is expensive to ship and I really don’t have any shops around where I can find special bars like these. I’m happy with the value and the products this month!
Have you tried any size of the Chococurb subscriptions yet?
