Makana Seaside – 4 oz, value: $12 (included in the Lucerna and Vivere boxes)
This candle is really fresh and summery. It smells like a nice balance of sea salt, greenery and florals. This candle is made in small batches, phthalate-free, blended with pure essential oils, and every part of it is made in the USA and vegan!
Caen Deming Co. Coastal Cypress – 8 oz, value: $25 (included in the Ignis and Vivere Boxes)
This candle actually smells similar to the first, but a little more earthy, and the cypress lends a slightly woody, spicy fragrance too. It’s also well-balanced.
Rip Van Wafels, Honey & Oats – value: $1.56
These wafels are definitely better after being warmed over your tea (you place them on the top of the mug for a minute). I’ve tried these before in boxes but this time I actually put it over some earl grey and it was fantastic. My sister-in-law loves stroop wafels like this because she had fresh ones all the time growing up and she though this one tasted really good.
Verdict: I liked my August VellaBox. Very fresh and beachy fragrances. The value adds up to $37, which I’m happy with. I do think curation/discovery plays into the value for this sub, so keep that in mind. Also, the fact that you’d have to pay shipping to get the candles straight from the manufacturers helps even out the value in some way, too, I think. All in all, I’m happy!
