Lip Monthly is stepping their bag game up. This is the cutest one I’ve received so far! The yellow tulips are so pretty.

LipMonthly-description card front

LipMonthly-description card back

Each Lip Monthly box comes with a card detailing each product inside the bag. It includes prices along with a note from the Lip Monthly team. I’m digging the floral design on this month’s card, very appropriate for May.

So Susan Jello Shot Rosy Cheek & Lip Gel– FULL SIZE! $24.95

I love everything about this product except the actual product. The box it came in has fun funky artwork, I love the Jello Shot name and I love the design on the tube. I’m not a huge fan of stains to begin with because I personally don’t like the look. The actual stain is not orange but more of a rose color. When I put this on it felt like I had applied a weird orange jello to my lips and once it dried it look like I had eaten a red popsicle & not in a good way. I will tell you- the lasting power is INSANE. The place on my wrist where I did the swatch is still there and when I woke up this morning (after vigorously washing my face) my lips were still stained. According to the website, this is a gel-stain hybrid formula infused with Heat Shift™ technology that transforms into a rosy flush upon contact with your skin according to your body temperature. I think it is a very cool concept, good quality product and neat technology I’m just not a stain fan so I will be gifting!

Jor’el Parker The Original Fango Mud Therapy Mask– Deluxe Sample 1 oz.: $3.86

I live for a good mud mask. This face/body mask is great because its 100% vegan, paraben & sulfate free but I would say it’s rather average. Nothing ground breaking and nothing bad just a good ole average mud mask. It gave my face that tingling and then tight feeling after I rinsed which I like because it makes me feel like it’s really working.  I will definitely keep using this! On a side note: the website is offering 30% off if you use the checkout code FANGO, so if you were wanting this mask now would be the time to purchase.

Manna Kadar LipLocked Priming Gloss Stain in Lucky (3 in 1) – FULL SIZE! $24.00

This is very similar to a liquid lipstick. The color is a beautiful nude petal pink and great for everyday wear! This product is a 3 in 1 because it contains a lip gloss, primer & stain all in one. It’s super moisturizing and has high pigment which is wonderful. This is the new holy grail in my lip collection & I’ve been using this gloss ever since I received it!

Dirty Little Secret Lipstick in Vengeance – FULL SIZE! $10.00

This lipstick has a very interesting shade. On my lips it’s a nice subtle purple shade which I like because I wouldn’t personally wear a loud purple lipstick (I’m not daring enough). It pushes me out of my normal comfort zone of nudes & reds which is always nice. It has great pigment and a creamy texture so I plan on keeping it to mix up my usual makeup routine during the week.

First round of swatches: So Susan Jello Shot Rosy Cheek & Lip Gel (top) and Jor’el Parker The Original Fango Mud Therapy Mask (bottom).

Lip swatches: Manna Kadar LipLocked Priming Gloss Stain in Lucky (on top) and Dirty Little Secret Lipstick in Vengeance (bottom)

Verdict: Another good bag from Lip Monthly! I feel like they are listening to feedback and adding a better variety of colors & quality. I’m keeping everything but the Cheek & Lip Gel so I’m happy. This bag totals up to $62.81 which is one of the higher values I’ve received yet. This month was a great deal given the $12.95 purchase price of the bag.

What do you think about May’s Lip Monthly bag? Did anyone receive the same products I did?

  1. Anyone that doesn’t love the jello shot can send it my way. It’s the best blush I have ever used. Not a huge fan of lipstain though, but it’s sold as cheek and lip gel.

  2. I have been thinking about this subscription and ordered it months ago and then I seen some really bad reviews so I cancelled before I recieved my first. The reason why I wanted to is because I get excited about lip products. My other issue is I not into brights pinks, or red, or even dark purples. I am a nude girl and like everything around it, darker to lighter.
Do you will out info so that is what I will get or even if you do give info do they try atleast? Also is there a deal if your a new customer and only want to do one bag/box? Thank you

    • I’m not 100% sure I understand what you’re asking but it seems you would be better off asking the sub your questions directly to get the most accurate answers about requesting specific colors. I don’t believe they offer any kind of customization so you can’t limit the colors you get to just nudes. If I understand your other question about discounts and one time purchases, I don’t believe they offer single bag purchases without subscribing though you can always sub and then cancel after 1 month.

  3. Great review! I really want that Jello Shot gel! Too bad it’s too late to get the May box now. Oh well, when my Birchbox ends in October, Lip Monthly is probably what I’ll be replacing it with.

    • I subscribed in June (1st bag for $5 coupon) and just got my first bag, the July one today. However, my July bag is actually this exact same May bag (think my DLS lipstick is a different shade though, was hot pink), just with a different card insert that says July instead of May. I am happy though since that means I got my Jello Shot!

    • That jello shot stuff is amazing! I too am not a stain fan, and I don’t use it on my lips. But from the first time I wore it as blush, I got complements about how great I looked. Really natural looking buildable color that does last. I love LipMonthly, but this was by FAR my favorite thing that I have EVER gotten in any beauty box. I just bought another (which, like many of you, I don’t normally do because I have SO MUCH stuff). I even like Jello Shot more than Nars Orgasm, which had previously been my go-to. I have a hard time with blush being too much or, more often, not enough color, and this was perfect. I don’t think I’ll ever use another…unless it comes in a beauty box.

  4. I got the same things and love all but the lipstick, I just could not pull off that color. But that stain! Holy pigment Batman, right!?!? I can use it, lightly, so it will last forever. And then some. Love the Manna Kadir gloss stain, color is a lovely MLBB and its a huge tube. So far I’ve been very happy with this subscription since I began (2-3months ago) and use more than not so will be keeping for awhile.

  5. The tight feeling means that it dried your skin.

  6. This is the first month in a long time that I am keeping all the products and not swapping any. I was pretty happy with this month’s bag, although I will admit that I haven’t tried the stain yet.
