The box came with this information card. This month’s theme is “candy shop.”
Here’s a look at the custom paper for this month. It’s cute, but it makes me think of Christmas.
Pawbreakers Catnip Ball – Value $5
This was the biggest hit of the box. Mr. Kitty and Monkey were especially fond of it. Monkey kept licking it and, as a result, also kept pushing it across the floor. Mr. Kitty took the “bite it” approach instead. Also, this was made with organic catnip.
Note: The catnip in the baggie goes with an item in the next photo.
Cat ‘n Around Imperial Cat Ice Cream Cone Catnip Toy – Value $5.99
The catnip went with this, a refillable catnip toy. My cats are not super into the refillable toys, but they did think the catnip was pretty good.
Authority Dental Cat Treats in Salmon (3 oz) – Value $2.99
These were a hit. I liked listening to the sound of my cats crunching on them. So maybe they really do help the teeth? I’ve seen this brand around in stores but had never actually tried anything from them before, so that’s nice.
Pet Candy Nips – Value $3.95
Pet Candy Candy Shoppe Stix – Value $4.25
Toys from Pet Candy are always hits with my guys. I removed the black strings from around the Pet Candy stix toy – seems like something a determined cat could remove and swallow. So I removed the black strings from the ends, just to be on the safe side.
Cat photo time!!
Mr. Kitty with the catnip ball. I love this picture!
Sneaky investigates the box.
Sneaky actually takes a treat from my hand!
Madison and Sneaky rush to see who can get the most treats.
Madison decides to cut Sneaky off from the source of treats.
Now he is fat and full and lets me pile stuff of him!
Here are a few shots of Monkey “helping” me unbox this subscription!
And here is Monkey with the catnip ball. He licked it for a long time.
Verdict: I calculated a value of about $22.18 for the May Pet GiftBox for cats. That is better than last month by a few dollars but still lower than I’d like to see, considering the subscription price. The toys were mostly popular with my crew, though, and Sneaky, Monkey, and Madison all ate the treats (Mr. Kitty can’t have them), so I was basically happy, though I’d like to see maybe one additional item in future boxes.
