The box came with this information card. This month’s theme is the Old West.
Multipet Boot – Value $2.99
Multipet Hat – Value $2.99
These are cute and fit the theme. They have a faux suede/velour sort of finish. The cats weren’t really into them because of the next item, which won out over everything else in the box (as I knew it would). I’ve put them up in the bedroom because I’m sure the cat will investigate later.
From the Field “Chewy” the Hemp Rope – Value $2.99
We have had this before. It is simple and cheap (see it away from the catnip in a bit). And the cats LOVE these things. One of their favorite toys ever, I think.
Sigh. Let’s push Monkey out of the way and try again…
Pet Gift Box Cowboy Crunch (2.5 oz) – Value $6.50 (?)
These are 100% buffalo meat strips. They are kind of a weird treat to give to cats. They seem more like something you’d give to a dog. I broke them into tiny pieces and Madison loved them. Sneaky found them too difficult to eat and she gave up. The value is a guess based on similar items since this is an exclusive.
Petgreens Medley Self Grow Pet Grass (3 oz) – Value $3.99
We’ve had something like this before and I know Monkey and Mr. Kitty are fans. It takes a few days to get one of these started. Also be sure to put a plate underneath it and change the plate every so often or it will start to smell really bad under there.
Gratuitous cat photo time!!
Sneaky bites one of the bison treats. (I like how Madison is inserting himself over on the left…)
Mr. Kitty liked the rope toy, too.
Monkey wasn’t playing with the toys but he sure wanted into the box later on…
Madison doesn’t usually want to take part in our photo sessions. But he was all over the rope toy. I have dozens of pictures like this now.
This is a little blurry but I just love how he is sticking his tongue out. He was really into the bison treats.
Verdict: I calculated a value of about $19.46 for the April Pet GiftBox. That is quite a bit below the cost of the subscription unless you sign up for a year, in which case you do a little better than break even. I liked the mix of items but I thought the bison treats were a bit strange (though Madison did like them). I would liked to have seen at least one or two more items to get closer to the month-to-month cost of the subscription, though.
A note about customer service: I was supposed to get the March box but a shipping label was created and then the package never got sent. They aren’t quite sure what happened and they didn’t have enough inventory to re-send so I was given a refund and a credit. I do appreciate the communication and response time.
What do you think of the April Pet GiftBox? Do you subscribe to any dog or cat boxes?
