Manta Headband - Sanyork - $3.99
This headband was made in Peru, and is made of fabric that traditionally is used for blankets for native women to carry babies or harvested crops of their back. It is cotton, and the colors are very vibrant! The elastic is serious too - this isn't going to slide off your head easily! I really like this, and thought the value was much higher than the price I found (which is a wholesale price, I believe). The company that sells these (and the earrings below) is fair trade, and works with 66 families to permanently overcome and reduce poverty in Peru.
Jungle Twist Bracelet - Minga - $12.00?
This bracelet is made from Achera seeds and coconut and was made in Ecuador. I couldn't find a price on this one, so I had to guess. This is really pretty, and I love the colors! It's a nice mustardy yellow, with a dark brown that is just gorgeous! The company that sells this bracelet is dedicated to improve education in Ecuador and increase knowledge of fair trade. Artisans are paid a fair wage, with enough to reinvest in their communities.
Fishcale Earrings - Sanyork - $15.00?
These are beautiful dangling earrings. They are made from paiche fish scales, which is a fish that is native to the Amazon river. It is one of the main food sources in Peru. I received a gorgeous turquoise color, and they are perfect for summer!
Verdict: I'm a little uncomfortable calculating a value for this box. Since there's no way for me to access pricing on these websites, I had to completely guess.
$3.00 from each box goes to the chosen charity of the month, which I love - and when you calculate the cost for each item, it comes out to about $10.00 per piece. I think that's very reasonable for handmade, fair trade items.
Each piece looks high quality, and I really think the curation is great for this box.
