VELLABOX FEBRUARY 2016 - items 1

Here are the two candles in my box this month! How cute is the packaging? Both are from Greenmarket Purveying Co.

VELLABOX FEBRUARY 2016 - items 2

Crush Bergamot and Raspberry Candle – 3 oz, value: $9

This candle is limited edition, and I loooove it. It’s a combination of two of my favorite fragrances! Plus, it also has some geranium and light musk to fill out the scent.

VELLABOX FEBRUARY 2016 - items 3

The Archivist Blackberry & Rosewood Candle – 7 oz, value: $16

This candle smells like “tart blackberry with green apple, rosewood, & musk.” It’s also delicious. I love candles in jars/that have lids. This is a great fragrance for spring, too!

VELLABOX FEBRUARY 2016 - items 4

Greenmarket Purveying Co. Coupon

Justin’s Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups – value: $2.49

These are a bonus item. I love this brand! I’m familiar with their nut butter packets and I’m always excited for chocolate!

The Verdict: I really like VellaBox. I love the packaging, and both of these candles are a hit with my tastes. Unfortunately, as far as value goes, I received $25 in candles for $30. There is the bonus item and “discovery/curation” aspect of this box, where it introduced me to some wonderful candles from a great brand, but I don’t think I would have paid the difference for a candle “personal shopper,” you know? I think this box has a lot of great things going for them, but I hope we can see a little better value from them in future boxes, or maybe they should have a different scaling of price increases between their different levels of subs.

What do you think about VellaBox? Have you heard of Greenmarket Purveying Co.?

  1. I am thinking about this one. I have kind of wanted a candle subscription and I like the different tiers here. Also shipping is not so bad; I was going to buy some candles on Etsy a few weeks ago and the shipping was so high. I mean, I understand that Etsy sellers are just individuals and small businesses who don’t have great deals with the USPS or UPS like Amazon does, but I bailed out on my Etsy cart when I saw shipping for like 2 candles was going to be $13 or something. So maybe a sub is a good idea instead.

  2. how easy is it to cancel a subscription for this? can you do it via their website or do you have to call and cancel?

    • I received this sub (the lower cost version) for a few months before I got overstocked on candles from other sources. It was a very easy cancel from my account on the website, no need to call or email anyone.

  3. Glad to see MSA reviewing Vellabox now 🙂 I’ve been a subscribed to the Luxe (I guess called Vivere now?) for like 5 months now and have been LOVING it! I’m a candle freak and all of their candles are seriously divine! It’s easily my favorite sub and I plan to stay with them for the long run! They had great customer support too when I needed to change my shipping address which I always really appreciate. Regarding value, I check out the retail prices every month and honestly they almost always exceed the box price and sometimes blow it away by $10 – $20 depending on who they feature (such as the Ebb & Flow, Pure Plant Home months). Highly recommend Vella!

  4. The same coupon code is listed twice…

    • WAS listed twice. I see it’s fixed now!

      • Thanks for letting us know 🙂

  5. I think I need this box

    • I absolutely LOVE Vellabox. I enjoy getting mine in the mail and such a great idea for a subscription box! ??
