I don’t know what it is about this packaging, but I absolutely love it.  It was beautiful, plus everything was well-protected.

Ships to:  US

Check out the Beauty Subscription Box Directory for more great bath- and spa-oriented subscriptions and make sure to add Lavish to your subscription list or wishlist!

Several cards were included.  In addition to a traditional information card listing the items in the box, there were candle care directions and an explanation of how to use a bubble bar.  (I appreciated this.  Although I like a lot of bath stuff, I had not previously been familiar with bubble bars!)

lavishbath-march-2016-bars

Starlight Moonlight Bubble Bar from Sylvia Soap Studio (4.5 oz) – Value $6.50

This looks like a cookie to me and I kind of want to eat it.  Anyway, you break off a piece and run it under warm water for bubbles (or just toss the whole thing in for a lot of bubbles).  This is scented with geranium, cedarwood, and patchouli, which is a combination I really like.  I haven’t used this yet (I only have time for long baths on the weekend and I had enough items in this box for at least 10 baths) but I am really looking forward to it.

Northern Lights Bubble Bar by Bare Naked Bath (3 oz) – Value $2.80

This exact item wasn’t in the Bare Naked Bath shop but this was the price of all the other bubble bars.  I love the colors!  This product does contain sodium lauryl sulfate but that is one of the primary ingredients behind the generation of the bubbles.  (You can have bubble bars custom made without SLS but they will not bubble as much.)

lavishbath-march-2016-bathbag

Moonlight Bath Bag by House of Intuition (3 oz) – Value $8

This is enough for three baths (and it includes three single-use sachets).  It has Himalayan pink salt and epsom salts, plus jasmine, raspberry leaf, and lavender.  You can either fill a sachet and throw it in the bath or make a tea with one of the sachets and pour the tea into your bath.  I opted for throwing the whole sachet in and I had a very relaxing experience.  The epsom salts were especially nice at soothing my muscle aches after a workout!

lavishbath-march-2016-bombs

Miss Galaxy Bath Bomb by Sassy Fras Bath (7 oz) – Value $6

This is seriously the biggest bath bomb I have ever seen.  It makes for a really colorful experience although cleanup afterwards is a bit of a chore since there is glitter and a ring of pigment around the tub.

Note: According to Lavish, this product’s formulation was changed between their testing and the wholesale order.  So this mess was not intended. Here is their statement on the matter; in brief, subscribers will be receiving replacement bath bombs with the same weight and water-soluble colorants at no cost.

Cosmic Galaxy Bath Bomb by The Ticklish Giraffe (4 oz) – Value $4.75

The scents here are an interesting combination of fruits, flowers, oakmoss, and wood.  I like the blend a lot (the flowers work well in the mix).    This also contains hemp seed oil, which I thought was very moisturizing.

lavishbath-march-2016-candle

Lemon “Galax-Tea” Sugar Soap Scrub by Soap & Clay (2.5 oz) – Value $4.95

This appears to be special packaging for one of Soap & Clay’s regular items.  It’s a whipped soap and sugar scrub in one.  I love scrubs and this one is really fresh and clean smelling.

Blue Moon 100% Soy Candle by Soy Much Brighter (2 oz) – Value $5

This is made from soy wax and has a cotton wick and a recycled paper label.  Larger candles in the Soy Much Brighter shop are poured into recycled glass.  This scent is oakmoss (there’s oakmoss again) and amber and is listed as being for men or being more masculine, but I have to say I like it quite a bit.

Verdict:  I calculated a value of about $38 for the March Lavish Bath Box.  That is somewhat shy of the $45.95 subscription cost, but of course you can bring that down with a coupon and longer-term subscription.  Plus, if you were going to buy items individually from a lot of these Etsy sellers, you’d pay way more than the difference in shipping (it costs $6.80 for Bare Naked Bath to mail a package, just as an example).  So this is an opportunity to try out items from a lot of different small, independent producers without all those extra shipping costs.  Also, for what it’s worth, I thought the theme was pretty great and all the items fit it quite well.

Their customer service is just awesome! I asked them about this coupon and they gave me a new one for January. Now I’m waiting for my first Lavish February box. Katie, you’re the best!

‘Code ADDICTED to save 15% off your first box’ gives only 10% off. It looks not so good. I’ve decided not to subscribe because of that.

How would it have been perceived if the price of this box was the sum total of the retail prices and shipping was charged separately? Do customers expect to pay less than total retail prices for a curated subscription box? Thanks!

Initial look at the products in the box & the card made me think of Fortune Cookie. I double checked to see if they had a new sub lol

I want all of those things! But don’t take baths often enough to use them. :-/ Definitely going to check out the individual sellers, though!

What I find amazing is how inexpensive these items are to buy. As a soapmaker, so much time, effort, and love goes into making handmade items. I am definitely going to check out the individual sellers!

I think this box is a bit expensive for me. I love my PV box and find it to be a great value. I do think the curation of this box is excellent. These small makers would never have been found, Etsy is to saturated.

I’ve been looking for a bath box to subscribe to. I’m considering this one as it seems to be including a lot of things I would find useful. I’m not a fan of candles, but my BF likes those so I could always share with him, and the fact that the items are vegan would be a plus (for him).

This makes me wish Lush Cosmetics had a sub box. Sigh.

My favorite thing about sub boxes is getting a GREAT deal. And while this box is my thing, this is not a deal at all. I will take my $38 and pick out my own stuff.

Katie with Lavish BathBox

Hi guys! Just to clarify a bit the $45.95 DOES include a 6.99 shipping to the US. Without shipping the box price is $38.96. We are considering listing it without shipping included as that initial price does seem a little scary initially to some!! 🙂

Thanks so much for taking the time to review our box!!! We are so thrilled to
be on mysubscription addiction

What kind of reasoning is that??

Pretty sure if people can add you won’t be fooling them. Not only that but your advertising that it’s free shipping, but now your basically admitting you hid the cost of shipping into the box and people aren’t really getting the cost or value of product they thought they where. Maybe you should have put includes shipping but instead you lied. Offering something for free that isn’t really free is wrong in my mind.

Katie with Lavish Bath Box

It does say on the site that the price includes shipping at a $6.99 value on our how it works page.

Certainly not trying to be disingenuous in any manner or trick anyone.

We are brand new, you live and you learn. I’m hoping that as we grow we can buy more at a time to get those better rates and in turn extend those savings to our customers 🙂

Understandably handmade artisans aren’t usually able to offer wholesale pricing like your bigger brands can. But we do love supporting those small businesses!

Kristin

Saying they lied is a little harsh. You do realize that shipping is never free on the company’s end regardless of whether they include it in the price or not, right? She was just trying to explain how it figures in to their pricing. This is obviously a new sub and probably a very small business. No need to be mean.

Emma

Then you’ll end up being disingenuous.

“Somewhat shy” value of the cash you paid is a generous understatement.
