The Freeman Mystery Bag is a one time purchase containing skincare, bath, body, and spa items from the Freeman Beauty line of products (including brands like bare foot and c. Booth). I believe this mystery bag is at least an annual offering, and this bag was available for purchase for a few weeks, ending October 31.
My Subscription Addiction purchased this box. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

With a purchase, you got to choose up to four sample-sized products for free. Here are the ones I chose:
Avocado and Oatmeal Clay Mask (0.5 oz) – Value $1.99
Facial Exfoliating Scrub in Pink Grapefruit (0.5 oz) – Value $1.99
Dead Sea Minerals Anti-Stress Mask (0.5 oz) – Value $1.99
Apricot Creamy Scrub (0.5 oz) – Value $1.99
I love masks and scrubs so of course I went that way with my free sample choices. The Avocado and Oatmeal clay mask sounded like it would be soothing but it actually made my eyes sting a bit while it was still wet (I did not get it in my eyes). I liked the effects of the pink grapefruit scrub but found out it had polyethylene microbeads, so I wouldn’t buy it in full size.
I have yet to try the Dead Sea minerals mask (this box contained a *lot* of masks to get through) but it is on deck for the weekend. I could use some stress reduction these days. And the apricot creamy scrub does not have microbeads, which is great.
Note: You could probably get two uses out of each mask. You can easily get 3-4 uses out of each scrub. I folded mine over and closed them with binder clips between uses.
Here’s a tip on the scrubs – if you are using them in the shower, take scissors with you or partially open them first. I pulled and pulled on the grapefruit scrub packet and couldn’t open it with wet hands.
Hibiscus Overnight Repair Mask (4 oz) – Value $7.99
I like overnight masks because you don’t have to sit around and wait for them to do their work. I think it’s pretty moisturizing. Please note that it contains salicylic acid (which works pretty well for me, in general) and is not vegan (contains silk amino acids and hyaluronic acid).
Pomegranate Body Wash (6 oz) – Value $4.29
This smells pretty good and is about what you’d expect from a body wash in this price range. I’m having trouble finding it online anywhere but the Freeman site, but at least you can get more there if you really like it.
Deodorizing Foot Spray (4.5 oz) – Value $6.99
This is a summer item for me. I live in my Birkenstock Milanos (I hate wearing socks) and now maybe I won’t have to spray them with Lysol? We’ll see.
Volumizing Boost Invisible Texturizing Powder (0.16 oz) – Value $6.99
Well, this is invisible all right – it doesn’t appear there’s anything in the container! I contacted them about it and at first they said, “we assure you it’s not empty.” I wrote back and said I couldn’t get anything out and they said they were out of stock and offered me a $5 store coupon. The store finder on their website doesn’t work too well but I think you can find Freeman products at a lot of places, including CVS and Ulta, so I will probably take them up on that offer.
I think the reason they were out of stock is because there was a misprint on the container. 0.16 ounces is not 48 grams, it’s about 4.3 grams…
C. Booth Mimosa Honeysuckle Body Souffle (8 oz) – Value $7.99
Another full-sized product that smells great to me. (I didn’t dip into the tub yet because I have so many body lotions and creams open already. But I am looking forward to this one. I have used C. Booth bath products in the past and liked them, for sure.)
Vita-K Professional for Dark Circles (0.5 oz) – Value $14.99
Vita-K Professional for Crow’s Feet (0.5 oz) – Value $14.99
Two full-size eye creams is a pretty good deal. I don’t have dark circles (most of the time) so I started with the one for crow’s feet. Although both have pretty similar active ingredients so maybe I will move on to the dark circles one after I finish the other off. So far I find it non-irritating and I think I see a little improvement. Time will tell.
Daisy Oxygen Revival Mask (1.7 oz) – Value $9.99
This mask has some unusual directions (apply it, let it transition from gel to foam, wait for it to dissolve, and rinse your face with warm water). I think it’s one of those things that may take a little while to show some effects because I’m not noticing anything yet. But I’m pretty sure this is full size, so I have enough to try it for a while.
Blackberry In-Bath Body Conditioner (6 oz) – Value $5 (?)
I think this product has been discontinued because the only place I could find it online was at a Walmart site in Canada. I’m estimating the value. I’m a little skeptical of lotions you use in the shower but I’m willing to give it a try.
Barefoot Exfoliating Polish (5.3 oz) – Value $5.99
I recently did something like Baby Foot Peel and I have been using this to help get the dead skin off my feet. Although it apparently is also OK to use as an overall body exfoliator. (Note: also contains polyethylene microbeads.)
Facial Purifying Paper Mask with Star Fruit (1 mask) – Value $0.99
Facial Lava Clay Mask in Cinnamon and Moroccan (0.5 oz) – Value $1.99
Facial Peeling Mask with Pumpkin (0.5 oz) – Value $1.99
I thought the paper mask was moisturizing but didn’t leave my skin greasy, which was nice. It didn’t have the best fit for my face, though, but I made it work. I’m saving the clay mask for the weekend (I try to do 2-3 masks on weekends since I have such a stash of them).
And the pumpkin mask was awesome. I misread the package at first – it’s a peel, basically, not a peel-off mask (which is what I first thought when I applied it). Now, I’ve been a little afraid of peels in the past but I ended up using this one without knowing what I was doing. And I actually really liked it. It smelled wonderful and it didn’t irritate my skin at all (there was maybe a little warming/tingling).
Verdict: I calculated a value of around $91 for the Freeman Mystery Bag. That’s excellent for a $30 price. (I didn’t include the empty volumizing powder in the calculation, but did include the “free” samples because everyone can choose those.) Although not every product was perfect for me, it was fun to experiment with the different items and to know that they are definitely affordable if I want more. I love that so many full-size items were included – you really get a chance to try something and see if it works for you. Even the sample sizes were good for multiple uses. Being drugstore items, these may not satisfy ingredients purists, but I enjoyed this box quite a bit.
What do you think of the Freeman Mystery Bag? Did you buy one? Did you receive the same items?
