Bluum Subscription Box Review & Coupon October 2015 - box

Bluum
3.1 overall rating

Bluum is a monthly subscription box for babies and toddlers. Their boxes are very customized – specific to the month of your child’s age. The box I’m reviewing is customized from my preferences and my son, who was born September 2nd, 2015! Because of this, my box may look completely different than someone else’s box.

FYI – recently, Bluum just started letting susbcribers “build their Bluum,” meaning actually choosing what items you get sent from a selection of featured items in varying categories (such as feeding accessories, getting dressed, safety, bathtime, books, etc). This new feature has made this box one of my very favorite baby boxes! It’s wonderful knowing I can pick items I know we’ll actually use. Susbcribers can skip choosing their items in order to still be surprised each month.

My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

Bluum Subscription Box Review & Coupon October 2015 - info

FYI – Bluum doesn’t include info cards in their boxes – instead they email you the details and values on each of the items included in your box.

(I have to admit when I first saw this card my initial thought was that they sent me a wrong box. I can’t believe my baby will be 2 months soon!)

Zero To Five from Pear Press – value: $19.95

I’ve heard some really great things about this book! It has awesome reviews and, after flipping through it myself, I’m a big fan. The book cuts to the chase and has simple, easy-to-read, and scientifically-backed information and tips for pregnancy through age five.

Angel Dear Burp Cloths, 2 pack – value: $16

I underestimated how many burp cloths we’d go through day to day so I’m happy to have more. Plus, these are soft, very absorbent, and nice big size.

Babysoy USA O Soy Knot Hat in Thunder, 6-12 Months – value: $8

I love this hat! It’s one of the softest materials I’ve felt, the grey is versatile, and I’m glad it’s a 6-12 size because my son was born a very big baby (he weighed over ten pounds and had a 14.5” head circumference. He’s in such big clothing sizes already!).

La Natura Anti-Stress Roll, Original Formula – value: $13

Aromatherapy treatments and rollerballs are things I’m a sucker for. This one is great – it’s a rollerball and meant to help stress, headaches, and sinus tension. It uses essentials oils of menthol, peppermint, rosemary, eucalyptus, basil, and menthol crystal.

Verdict: I’m loving Bluum Box lately! Now that I can build my own and choose what I’m getting, it’s become one of my favorites. The value for this month adds up to $56.99 and I’m happy with that, especially because I know I’ll use and enjoy everything.

I like the customization option too, but didn’t we used to get 5 items?? Now it’s 4. Or maybe it was always 4 items, anyone remember for sure?

I have one or two months left and I’m probably not going to renew it. Some of the items are nice but there aren’t that many choices and the books are never as good as other books we have.

Hmm, I’m not sure. I know when I go select items it has 4 slots and a fifth that’s greyed out and says “coming soon,” so I don’t really know what that means.

Thanks for the review! It would be helpful for me to know what other types of options were available to choose from if you remember.. Like were there different book choices? And for the hat, did they just allow you to select size or also color (or even hat versus some other type of clothing option?) And was it all different patterns of burp cloths you could choose from or was it burp cloths versus something else? I’m really interested in this–great that they’re allowing variations!

Allison, there are lots of options to choose from! Categories include books, bathtime, health and wellness, getting dressed, feeding accessories, safety, play time, and I think that’s it (I’d go double check for you but I already built my November box and you can’t see it until it opens up again for the next month, so I’m going off what I can remember.

Each category has 8 or 10 items to pick from (although if you pick something in a category, and then go back to that category to pick a second item from it, I noticed the options will change; like, some items will cycle out to other items). The books category has a bunch of books (surprise); safety has items like thermometers, nasal aspirators, hygiene items, etc. Health and wellness has things like cleansing facial towelettes (for mom – I picked these for one of the items in my next box), the anti-stress rollerball in this review, chapsticks and healing balms, hand sanitizer, etc. Bathtime has toys, lotions, washes, and oils; feeding accessories has bottles, snack containers, cups, kids cutlery, etc. Getting Dressed has options like socks, booties, onesies, hats, etc. Playtime has toys and such. I think there’s also a category for Cleaning Up that has things like sanitizing wipes, laundry detergent, room fresheners and deoderizers, stain sticks, and the like.

So, clearly, there’s many options in each category, and there’s no limitations like only being allowed 1 item per category – if you wanted a whole box of books, you could! The selection process feels like online shopping to me! 🙂

Thanks so much Haley! I just signed up for a box for my 19 month old daughter thanks to your review and comments… You’re right, it totally feels like online shopping. It’s fun to see what new options come up for you after you make a selection, and it’s neat being able to choose all your options although at the same time sort of sad to not have any surprise waiting for me when the box comes! I guess you can’t have it both ways:)

chris

The customization option is really nice. I hope more baby boxes will follow suit.

I really liked my box this month too! I got the 3 month box but it was all stuff I would use. This is the first month they have hit it out of the park
