Epic Turkey Almond Cranbery Bar – 1.5 oz, value: $4
Boo Boo Bakery Vanilla Bean Marshmallows – 16 count, value: $9.99
This turkey bar was very interesting, but just not for me. I thought it was kind of crumbly in texture.
Marshmallows are one of my absolute favorite treats (I even had gourmet marshmallows as favors at my wedding) so I was super excited for these vanilla bean marshmallows! Unfortunately, mine were rather dry and a little hard. I’m not sure if this could be due to sitting in my mailbox in freezing weather and then thawing again, or if it’s the marshmallows themselves.
Beth’s Farm Kitchen Cranberry Sauce – 8 oz, value: $8?
Josephine’s Feast Pumpkin Chutney with Ginger & Cardamom – 8 oz, value: $12
I love that the only ingredients in this cranberry sauce are cranberries, sugar, oranges, water, and cardamom – the cranberry sauce that comes in cans and retains the shape of the can always freaked me out a little! I’m excited to try this.
Red Jacket Apple Butter – 8 oz, value: $6
Tierra Farm Organic Raw Walnut Halves – 6 oz, value: $5.94
I couldn’t find these walnut pieces on Farm to People’s website, so I used the producer’s site to estimate the cost. Also, I have to say that I was kind of underwhelmed to get just plain walnuts in my box. I’ll use them, but I feel like I can find walnuts anywhere.
This apple butter is great, though. My grandmother used to make apple butter all the time, and this doesn’t actually taste too far from it.
Verdict: I have to say that I was a little underwhelmed with this month’s Farm to People box. I’ll use about half of the items, but I wish there were more snacks instead of 3 different sauces/spreads, and I didn’t care for the marshmallows or turkey bar. Also, the value only adds up to just about $46, which just doesn’t quite break even with the cost of the box. Like I said, though, I’ll use some of the items, so it’s ultimately not a complete loss for me.
