I don’t know if anyone else feels this way, but I am so much happier with Macy’s box than Ipsy (actually, Macy’s is my favorite!) The products are REAL, LEGIT companies. I love that they send a tool or bag every month also. I have used every bag from them, as opposed to those silly bags from Ipsy. I just love the bag they sent this month. Sorry IPSY, you were fun, but no.

Too bad their products aren’t worth the price increase. I’d consider keeping it if they had better brands, but it’s not worth it for the occasional awesome product.

Does anyone know if it is possible to still get the Glam Bag X if you have cancelled all of the other bags?

Reply ButtonReply

echo

Sadly, you have to have a subscription to one of the services in order to get the Glam Bag X “upgrade.”

Reply ButtonReply

Annette

Are you able to skip a bag w/ Glam Bag plus on the annual sub? I know with the reg glam bag you can’t skip. Any help is appreciated. Thank you!

Reply ButtonReply

Amber )-(

I learned recently that you can skip the regular glam bag on an annual account if you email customer service to do it.

AnnaMarie

Although I do not have any annual subs for Ipsy I am & often skip bags- both glam bag & plus. I think you should be able to do so on annual & that months “credit” will just roll over until you’ve used up the number of bags you’ve paid for! Hope this helps!

When I go to upgrade my Plus membership, I get the following: “You’re upgrading at a special rate. After a year, your membership will automatically renew yearly for $300. Cancel anytime.”

So I guess it’s not really locking in the rate, but giving you a discount for this upcoming year only? That’s a huge bummer, so maybe I won’t.

Reply ButtonReply

Amber )-(

I don’t believe you can lock in the old price. You can just get the one year at the current annual price.

Reply ButtonReply

echo

$300 is 12 x $25, which is the current GBP rate. Ipsy doesn’t strike me as a “grandfather the old rate in” type of business.

Reply ButtonReply

Melissa

Right – I think it just confused me bc it sounds like the glam bag will be grandfathered in at $11/month. Or will that rate only go through next year as well?

JesCro

I canceled again. The last few months have been the same types of products – which I normally love, but am already tired of receiving. I think the personalization has been pretty good this time around, but I don’t want to pay more for these brands.

amarante

I am not renewing because the price increase made me realize that I didn’t actually want the crap samples that I was being sent. I wouldn’t want them at my old price of $11 because I never wound up using them. I hate small sample sizes because they just produce clutter – are often difficult to use – are wasteful in terms of packaging and aren’t really enough for me to decide whether I like.

I am keeping my “subscription” to Plus because I just cancel most months when the spoilers come out. Very rarely are there products which are intriguing enough for me to unpause my subscription. I don’t care if it is $28 or $25 because I would only be getting it if there was something that was at least worth it to me to try because I knew I could use it or it was intriguing enough for me to want to try out.

Reply ButtonReply

Julia

But you’re not guaranteed the spoilers. You don’t know whether a given spoiler would be offered to you as a choice.

Reply ButtonReply

amarante

With Glam Bag Plus you get to select two or maybe three of the choices so you would have some ability to know what one is getting.

At any rate, I mostly pause the Glam Bag Plus – I did get Glam Bag X because there were enough spoilers out so that I knew I would be getting at least $55 worth of value based on the products that were being spoiled.

With the Glam Bag I just don’t have any interest in small samples of skin or hair products because they aren’t functional to me. I don’t like individual small eyeshadow because they get lost at the bottom of the eyeshadow drawer.

Emma

Yeah, I’ve cancelled.

I’ve always been pretty happy with my bags (and I love the bags themselves), but I was already skipping August (didn’t love the product spoilers) and September (didn’t love the bag spoilers), and the price increase announcement, while small, made me realize that I’m done with ipsy for a while. I’ve just got so much stuff.

Having said that, I still think ipsy is a better value at $13 than Birchbox for $15.

Reply ButtonReply

Pink5

Birchbox is $15? Geez, I thought they were a waste at $10.

Reply ButtonReply

Debbie

I have seriously been considering canceling, so the timing of this is interesting. I have subscribed for many years, & have had numerous issues. (Empty products, leaking items, missing items, etc) My August bag was extremely problematic, and I’m out of patience. This price increase (although really not a lot of money) might be the wake-up call I’ve needed to finally unsubscribe.

Reply ButtonReply

Carol

I haven’t subscribed to really anything in probably a year. I keep this sub, but I pause it every month. I just want access to the sales lol.

Reply ButtonReply

Luna

FWIW, I’m not a subscriber, and I have access to the Pop Up sale (starting this month), 2nd Chance Add-Ons, & Flash Sale. So far, the only sale I don’t have access to is the add ons when subscribers do choice.

Reply ButtonReply

CarrieL

This! I’ve given up on the boxes themselves, but I love the add-ons and flash sales. I don’t buy a ton, but I love checking to see what each day’s flash sales are. I’ve picked up a few great things at great prices that way. It’s worth it to me to keep a profile for that!

Beccah

Well, I will definitely be unsubscribing to the regular bag. And only keeping plus if I have more items to choose from. This is a bad move for them. I think a lot of people will unsubscribe. All the sub boxes have gone down hill. Boxy, allure etc.. I only sub to 2 boxes now and I used to sub to 11.

Reply ButtonReply

JoJoB

Beccah-SAME! I used to subscribe to 11 boxes as well. Now that IPSY has pulled this I am going to cancel all 3 tiers. I can’t believe how much subscription boxes in general have gone down hill. I am also only keeping 2 of my subscriptions.

I subscribed to Ipsy for years and it was a nice monthly treat to myself. At the beginning, the GBP bags I received had at least one hero item, but lately none of their spoilers interest me and the good items that used to be included in the Plus bag, are now reserved for Glam Bag X. I’ve been skipping both my subscriptions (regular and plus) for the last 4 months and now this price increase pushed me to cancel both. An extra $4 might not be much, but if one of these months I forget to skip, I’ll be charged close to $50 for two bags full of products I don’t need or want.
Ipsy, it was a fun ride.

If…IF the “trending items…more personalization” allowed us to pick ALL of our items, then it would be worth it. But I’m dreaming! So..wonder what the more personalization actually means. I have enough Mascara to curl and lengthen every hair on a pack of poodles! AND a GIGANTIC Amount of Highlighters that could be seen from below the ocean depths! Send me some new innovative products and brands or something I can actually use!

tammy g.

well..i knew it was a matter of time..i guess boxycharm will go up as well now..if that’s the case i will cancel or skip alot of months..not going to pay money for products i don’t need or want..

Reply ButtonReply

Dianne

I must have 6 months of Ipsy sitting on my dresser and I haven’t even opened them. I also get a Candle Bath Bomb subscription Fragrant Jewels and I Love it so much. The rings are so cute and I wear them everywhere. You need to review them. I can’t wait for Halloween.

Reply ButtonReply

Marion

Keeping base for now. Haven’t had the best luck with Ipsy algorithm lately.

I subscribe to Plus off & on, sometimes canceling altogether, sometimes just skipping. I feel like I’ll definitely be skipping more often with this price increase. BUT I also see myself potentially purchasing more of the full-size products in add-ons, rather than trying to gamble on getting a particular spoiler item in a bag.

Reply ButtonReply

Casp

I think it’s time for me to unsuscribe. I’m in Canada and 13$ +2,95$(shipping) for 5 sample size it’s a lot. Plus, we can not buy Ipsy offer, ipsy pop-up, we can not get glam bag + either. The only thing we can get it’s add-ons. Of course i don’t think we can buy the annual plan. Can’t see it anywhere. Bye Ipsy. There’s no avantage to be a loyal customer. If i suscribe/unsuscribe and resuscribe i will get more free gift! And get more for my money…

Ranee

I agree…prices going up and products going down..I’m out too..so long.

Reply ButtonReply

Lisa

I am going to upgrade to annual and revaluate after the year is up. I’ve been getting the GBP since January and have been enjoying my bags. I don’t know of any other box that allows you to pick 3/5 items and for me, that actually match my profile. Maybe I have low standards 🤣

Reply ButtonReply

echo

Low standards, ROTFLMAO!

I’m considering doing the annual upgrade as well. (I did it with Allure and though I know a lot of people are dissatisfied, I’m okay with the boxes I received for $13.75.)

Right now I get GB & GBP every month and did the X swap twice. I’m not happy with the price increase, but I’m still a satisfied customer at this point, so locking in the current rates and seeing how it goes seems like a good idea.

Melinda

I guess I am in the minority as well…my August plus bag had the very best items I’ve ever received from Ipsy. I had considered skipping a month—and am so glad that I didn’t. I decided to go with the annual sub. It works out to about $22/month, and honestly over time I have found items that I’ve loved and have repurchased. And, I have tried new products that I never would have picked myself and have ended up liking. I look forward to getting my bag every month.

I’ve been debating canceling Ipsy for a while, and it looks like this will be what pushes me to finally do it. Too bad, it used to be a really special treat for me. Now it’s just “stuff.”

Reply ButtonReply

FabSB

RIP is right. Plus was good for the first couple of boxes only. They promised luxe brands, but I only got Sunday Riley once, while other people got several SR items. The Fenty was glow into outer space SHOCKING Pink – just awful on me. I have been telling myself to cancel each month if the luxe factor doesn’t go back up, just have been lazy about it. Pulling the trigger now..

Reply ButtonReply

Annie S.

I’ve been on the fence about IPSY. Sometimes you get decent items and other times it’s a crap shoot. I also don’t like that you have to be subscribed to Glam Bag or Glam Bag Plus to get Glam Bag X. I was going to give it until December to see if it was worth it to re subscribe. I really can’t justify spending $132 a year plus $55 every couple of months on the kind of things that IPSY sends. After December. I will not be re subscribing. Goodbye, pink boxes!

Reply ButtonReply

Brittney

Yeah- no. Looks like its finally time to switch to BoxyCharm. For $12 more, I can get 5 FULL SIZE products that I get good use of, have good value, and I can actually look forward to. RIP, Ipsy.

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole

Ipsy and Boxycharm are owned by the same company. I’ve had Boxycharm for @ 2 years and it has gone waayyy downhill over the last 6 mos. Not much better than Ipsy honestly

Reply ButtonReply

Nan

Agree. I’ve also noticed Boxy’s full size products aren’t as big as they used to be 🙁

Lizzie

I agree. I’ve been with ipsy for 3 years and boxy for 2. I’ve always preferred BoxyCharm to ipsy, but recently Boxycharm’s product quality has gone down. Ipsy raising their prices is enough for me to cancel, i haven’t been happy with their products in a year. I’ve been skipping bags, but I think I’m ready to make the push to Ipsy and boxy

OuwalaD

I had already changed to every other month because I was pretty dissatisfied with the selection/size/quality of items in a Glam Bag, but charging extra for the same stuff? No thanks.
Maybe I’m irritated by the products because I previously switched to a Glam Bag Plus, and now I’m back to the original? Full size items are REALLY nice to receive, but not cost effective.
It’d make sense to spend ($1) more if they threw in more full-size item surprises – or sent MORE items.
I was really on the fence about quitting (mostly because it’s nice to be able to buy from the add-ons and specials), but I think this will be it.
I’ve ‘collected’ enough makeup supplies to last until I’m 100…so sad. I used to really enjoy Ipsy.
One thing I really enjoyed was when the bags were designed by various artists. It was so cool to be able to have a unique bag – now they’re a little too ‘meh’

Shawna

Agreed- I have so many cute bags from when i first started and then they just got a little generic.

Reply ButtonReply

jade

So they merge ,service ,quality goes down ,price goes up, lucky if you get the bag in the same month this makes no sense!!! Any other makeup/skincare subscription you’ll recommend let me know.

Look into The Box by fashionsta. Always full sized mix of makeup & skin care. The only sub box I’vekept for years.
