  1. I didn’t order this box, but I did order a special
    Door lock for an antique door. It was coming from overseas. It was literally hung in customs for 8 months. And I know this bc I received letters from customs. Customs never explained why. I waited as long as I could bc I really needed the lock. But finally canceled the order for a refund. So, who knows. I have ordered many other items that have never been held longer than a week or two. Instead of bashing, maybe take a break from this box and try again later if you see consistent success. If you don’t, then at least you saved yourself from the irritation. I know I began getting an attitude toward a couple of boxes citations, took a break for a few months, and now I suddenly love them again. This is supposed to be a fun surprise. And, I would never buy these with any money that isn’t frivolous funds only bc you have zero idea what you are getting. Common sense. Go buy something you know you will really enjoy if it’s part of your serious budget money. Too big a risk. This is designed for discretionary funds as a surprise treat. That way you aren’t overly heartbroken if something isn’t your style. That’s just going to happen. It’s part of the deal. As for the travel vouchers, yes, I’d be upset about the fine print. Soooo upset. I didn’t buy that one bc I thought there’s no possible way a person can provide a super nice resort and convenient flight for that price point. There’s gotta be a catch. I’m not that flexible of a person with where I stay and my qualitynof travel so I decided it was too large of a gamble for me personally. Glad I listened to my gut. Saved me some irritation.

    @nat. And @kat First I want to reinterate, I don’t expect anything for free. And phooey on me for not doing research prior to buying the November box. I had major FOMO!! Lol. I saw the spoilers on MSA for the November box and thought awesome, Luxor looks nice. So I bought it. At that time the travel fiasco had not even happened. Then when I didnt get a tracking number for the box as promised I looked on MSA and saw all the issues with the travel box and started researching here. I saw all the complaints regarding the September box. So I became concerned. I never even received an email from them regarding the issue until yesterday. I will say I emailed them to confirm they had my order and they did reply to that. So that’s how my story went. I appreciate where you are coming from that we live in a society where some want something for free today and expect handouts and a lot of people don’t want to work for things. (And I’m not directing that at Nancy because I feel like she has every right to her opinion and feeling that way). But I think this is a different issue. I just think they probably dropped the ball and didn’t curate the items in time and that’s why there was an issue. We will have different views on this but we can express our opinions by who we do business with and that is how companies survive or don’t. I’m glad it’s a non issue now!!! But kat to say I shouldn’t lose sleep over this you know nothing about my life. I saw people talking about how shady the travel certificates were in the travel box and then they release a Christmas box with the exact same vouchers?? That’s all I’m trying to say. I don’t attack people for their beliefs or opinions and I was only sharing mine. That’s all I have to say on this matter. I’m thrilled for Luxor that they are fulfilling their promises.   4. I appreciate the communication from Luxor and enjoy my boxes. Things do happen that Luxor has no control of and I have been a subscriber from the first box and they have always been pretty consistent with shipping. I have found that everything may not be my taste but they always make great gifts. I must be one of the few that really liked my little pumpkin.

    • That little pumpkin really grew on me and now I love it! A lot of people were looking to swap for it so I think it was actually quite popular. Not so much the notecards (though I loved those too!).

  5. Luxor Box usually ships around the 10th. This November Box will be going out nearly 3 weeks late– it would be nice to include a little something extra for the delay, especially since the last box seemed lacking.

    • It’s not Luxor’s fault that customs held the items, so they really shouldn’t have to be out the extra expense of adding items. I feel they have handled it very professionally and transparently, with an attempt to come up with an interim solution as well.

      • They have 2 months between boxes– seems to me like they maybe curated this box late? They take our payments plenty of time in advance. Were you happy with the Sept. Box? I opened it one time and I think I remember it only having 4 items, one of which was a pumpkin– I could be wrong as I’m going by my “old” memory. I have been a subscriber from the first box– January will be my last and I was locked in at the $95 pricing.

        • Nancy, you are right on the money in my opinion. Compared to Luxor a couple years ago, the boxes are truly pathetic. January 2016 was amazing, and I have not been truly as “wowed” ever since. I held on for as long as I could but gave up on them after the travel voucher SCAM, yes SCAM in my opinion. It is a scam because we were sold one thing and got another. Lies by omission (surprise fees, terms, conditions, and other garbage you have to go through to get the “free trip”) is still false advertising in my book. I don’t think Luxor realizes (or cares) about the problems they caused families with their “bonus” vouchers.

          For those of you that got a voucher, how are you in defense of this company? You must be in a better position in life than I am. God bless you.

          I was THRU THE ROOF on the Voucher as I had actually believed what we were sold on. I never would have gotten that Travel box if it wasn’t for the voucher “bonus”. I have never gotten a Luxor Box other than the bi-monthly sub. I don’t have thousands to waste or even hundreds. It was my only sub box. I had to convince my husband to let me buy the travel box because Luxor is a reputable luxury company (other then some “eh” boxes (like Sept,, never had a problem with them customer service-wise).

          I got in a terrible fight with my husband over the voucher once the terms came to light. I am embarrassed to admit, but that whole box counted as my Christmas, Birthday, AND Valentine’s Day present. This is because I knew we would obviously turn this into a vacation, on top of some of the small extra booking fees). I negotiated the heck out of him to get that super expensive box (from my perspective). Yes, that is how excited I was because I never get to go ANYWHERE and do ANYTHING. I was going to get to go on a REAL VACATION for the first time in my adult life! Sorry for being EMO about it– just venting. 🙁 I wish I was in a better position to not have to have spent tears over a stupid box. Some people, I realize it is just a mistake or they don’t mind the extra legwork, condition and terms to get to use it. Some people don’t care if they wasted their money. That is NOT me! I WISH it was.

          Luxor Box was truly my one luxury in life that I had to look forward to every other month. I would count down the days to getting it! I am a stay at home mom, by necessity with young children. Now I am still heartbroken over the fact that we won’t be using this voucher. I cannot begin to tell you how excited I was to travel as I have not been on a plane since I was 12 and I am now 35 years old.

          I would sell it to someone (in the real world, not on here) but I am not an unethical person. Sorry for the rant, but this stupid thing caused some major problems for me in my personal life.

          LUXOR YOU MESSED WITH PEOPLE’S LIVES with your VOUCHER SCAM (at least mine). 🙁

          • @jen. I’m truly sorry you’ve had to go through this. I’m sure you’ve felt horrible about this whole thing. I can’t even imagine what you’ve been going through because I felt bad for thinking I might not get a $139 box. I had to think of a way to tell my husband I needed more money for Christmas. How were we supposed to know if they were truly stuck in customs. It was hard to take their word for it when they treated people so bad over the travel vouchers. Check out Fabfitfun. They are awesome!!! Once a quarter for $49 and they have sales on items you use as well. It’s my favorite sub. Good luck.

          • @melalie Thank u for the kind post. I know I won’t be getting any boxes for awhile– but I have heard good things about FitFabFun. Maybe in a couple of months when my husband’s memory fades more and the holidays are over I will talk him into another subscription box lol. $50 quarterly is a bargin compared to Luxor.

            You are right, how are we supposed to believe anything from this company after all their bull crap lately (pardon my language). I hope it works out for u though and u like the November (or should I say December) box haha

          • @Jen, I am terribly sorry to read your comments. I don’t think any of us can relate to your situation, but something is just not right if stupid box created so much pain and problems within your family. I truly believe it is a bit unfair to put all the weight of your family issues on sub box. It is surely could have been a trigger to the situation you are facing, but cannot possibly be a reason for the problem within your family.

            I hope you and your hubby will get to resolution of the problems you are having.

            Try to see positives – the December box is coming soon and it looks fabulous!

          • @Natalya, Try to remember this was a $450 box (not $40). That is a lot of money and a lot of hours to work to get that kind of money to just be a waste. To put things in perspective, a job that pays $20 an hour.. it would take over 22 hours of work to pay for this box. If you take taxes into consideration, it would take many more hours of labor to be able to buy this box.

            While the items were nice, I am one of those people who NEVER would have gotten this box if i wasn’t for the travel voucher. I can’t believe I am the ONLY person who bought the box because of the voucher.

            I appreciate your assumptions, but Um no there are not other problems going on in my family. Other then not being able to flush $450 in hopes that a great vacation deal was coming out of this. This was a fight because my husband was promised a trip was coming out of this that included hotel lodging, airfare for one, and all we would have to do then is pay a $39 fee, taxes, and then figure out airfare for person 2. Since saving on airfare for one of us, plus free lodging is an amazing deal, it seemed too good to be true. Especially for us to go someplace across the country. Of course it was too good to be true. What I promised and convinced him on did not come through. The fight was about this.

            WTH? I am not putting all of my problems in life on Luxor. Disappointment is normal I believe, I know others were by the voucher bull.

            There is nothing for me or my husband to get to the resolution of. The fight is over now. I was sharing what happened when the inital truth came out about the vouchers. We are SOL on the deal. END OF STORY. BTW, There is no Luxor December box.

          • @jen If you read the comments under the link regarding the review of the travel LE a lot of people were talking about doing chargebacks through PayPal or their cc company. I believe PayPal is really good about doing that when a company has been misleading like Luxor was. I almost bought the Xmas Le for the same reason you did the travel one and am just thankful I couldn’t afford it. I would definitely check into getting your money back. 90% of the people who bought that box were unhappy it seemed.

      • I don’t want anything for free but to say “sh*t happens” and I should just say thank you??? This is the first time I’ve ordered from Luxor. I receive many subs and have never had this problem or any problems with the other companies. After seeing how shady they treated people with the travel voucher and going back and comparing September’s box with previous boxes I think I had every right to be concerned about the legitimacy of this company. I lost sleep over this. So exactly what should I be thanking them for?? I’m confused. That I’m getting what I paid for 3 weeks late?? I am happy that I’m getting my box don’t get me wrong. I’m very relieved. It’s great news.

        • Exactly– why on earth should I say “Thank You” for a product for which I’ve paid them in plenty of advance?? My January payment has already been taken out (11/20) and I still haven’t received November? I get it that things happen that are out of the company’s control but if I recall this company seemed to give customers a hard time with missing boxes/ damaged items. I think that they were pushing off the missing boxes to the Postal Service and making customers do the tracking instead of Luxor Box handling it themselves.

          • @Melanie, what I don’t get is if this is your first box after the fact that you “compared” their previous boxes and you “didn’t like the shadiness of the travel voucher” you knew what you were getting into obviously! I understand being upset, but it was out of their hands… customs had it… it anymore but asking for free items is RIDICULOUS!

        • @melanie711 You losing sleep over this makes me think you need to reorganize your priorities. Customs takes things very seriously. If they think that there is something wrong, be it large or small, then they will hold it without even batting an eye.

          Also you are “concerned about the legitimacy” of a company that has been going strong since about May 2015 with only 2 big mistakes to their name. (those 2 being recent) Yes this is upsetting, but they are keeping in contact with their subscribers & being proactive.

          My suggestion is for you to do more research into a company before jumping in. Don’t just look here for reviews, but other places on the web.

          • They have had more than 2 issues. I was a long time subber until I cancelled as I was done with their lack luster bad customer service to me. The travel voucher was super shady. I agree there totally

      • I said that “it would be nice” if they included something extra. I didn’t write to them to ask/ beg about sending something extra. As an example– I subscribe to Orglamix which is also late thus month– they will be including a gift card in each box because of the delay. I didn’t ask for it or expect it, and that sub is not as pricey as this one.Its called good customer service/ relations. And as for your suggestion to give Luxor Box a “Thank You,” well the only way that I would do so is if they gave the box to me for free. Just my opinion…

      • I bring in product from other countries. Customs happen, however they don’t hold it for 3 weeks. 3 days maybe. And I deal with perishables and non perishables. It sounds like they either ran into a cash flow issue in prebookong their product, or the vendor didn’t deliver on time or lastly they didn’t plan correctly and ordered late. Perhaps using the cash from the Le boxes they have been promoting and releasing by the multiples. Cuttting it that close to shipping is indeed Luxors fault/fail. Free item isn’t necessary, Glad they communicated the delay but I do not put stock in the reason as again customs doesn’t hold items for weeks. The release it or keep it /destroy it meaning you have to reorder your product.
        I will say, man Nat, your comment is a bit harsh.

        • Nat must work for Luxor Customer Service!

          @Hildol 3 days makes alot more sense. I think alot of major companies would be screwed if Customs really held stuff for 3 weeks+ at a time on a regular basis. It also could cause an entire small business to shut down in theory. Luxor is lucky this isn’t their first month in service or else “customs” could have put them out of business.
