  1. Can anyone tell me if you have to have a Facebook account to review your ipsy products and get points for reviewing your Ipsy products? I tried to review my products but it kept asking me to log into my Facebook account and I don’t have one. Thanks

    • I think you have to have facebook or Twitter. I didn’t have one either so I made one with a fake name and no pics or friends and I use it just to get my ipsy and boxycharm points. Maybe you can ask ipsy customer service if there is another way to get your points and if not, maybe you can just make a fake one? Hope that helps

      • Thanks Jackie!

    • Thank you so much, Dia! It worked. 😃

    • All to do is Click the or to where it’s unhighlighted and submit this is a way to still gain points.

  2. The jelly pong pong is the only thing that looks good this month. Hopefully I get it!

    • Can we ask for the jelly pong pong or we have to chose from the other list? I chose the pacifica pallet and they said it wld be in my bag but i wld much rather have the pong pong and im sure they wont give me to shadows….

      • I asked Ipsy and they said no. They said I wasn’t able to request it because it wasn’t an item that they were allowing people to pick from

        • ahh well maybe I’ll get lucky 😛

    • I want to ask for that and the brush! woot!

  3. I emailed ipsy and asked for the brow product because I have never seen one in the lineup of products since being with them for a year and they told me they can’t guarantee I will get one because there is a high demand and low supply. I thanked them and said that if I don’t receive 1, it’s okay. I figured I can sample it from so choix and appreciated that they will try.

  4. I’m so excited about these spoilers…So happy there are more makeup items for the month of May!!!!! YIPPIE!!

  5. when i signed up i didn’t receive any message about a waitlist. now i’m a little worried. if you’re put on the waitlist do you get a message stating that you’re on the waitlist or are new subscribers automatically put on the waitlist without receiving any message about being on the waitlist?

    • I signed up yesterday. They emailed a note confirming my info and that I was on the waitlist. Then there was another note that I could get off the waitlist if I did a couple of Facebook things, so I emailed CS and said I don’t use Facebook, they immediately emailed back and said I’d be taken off and would get the May bag. don’t blame them for trying to get people to use social media for them. I had heard from MSA users that emailing them would get you off the list.

      • thanks for the reply julie. i didn’t receive any message about being on the waitlist. just that i’m subscribed. i’ll try to email them to confirm my status and if i’m on the waitlist i’ll ask them to take me off too. maybe it since i linked my social media with ipsy they didn’t put me on the waitlist. at least i hope so. 🙂

        • That’s probably it. I think linking to social media is how you get right in. You should email anyway to give them any opt-outs and your May request.. I did and was so impressed with how nice they were.

          • ok thats a great idea to make sure and opt out. 🙂

  6. I asked for the brush, I usually do as they are my favorite, and I feel it helps pay for the bag. That pacifica eyeshadow is beautiful though !

  7. Ipsy is my fave makeup sub. Unfortunately i had to cancel all my subs (except fabfitfun) due to a job loss. Just gotta live vicariously through all of liz’s reviews so make those swatches count liz! Hahaha

  8. Hmm interesting. Before it also listed we could request the urban decay highlighter as the product we choose. I emailed them a few weeks ago to request I receive the UD highlight and they confirmed I will. Now the UD isn’t listed as one of the choices for people to request they get, I wonder if everyone was requesting that one and they already ran out? Glad they confirmed I’d get it in my request to them a few weeks ago!

  9. just emailed and opted out of eyebrow and hi liter products. Asked for the Pacifica palette. So pretty!!

  10. I just wish I could get off the wait list. Been on it for 2 months! No Facebook page….

    • Hi Milissa, Have you contacted customer service about getting off the waitlist? I’m not on Facebook and they took me off the waitlist the same day when I emailed customer service.

    • Same. Yesterday I signed up, was put on waitlist. I emailed and said I don’t do Facebook and immediately got a response that I was taken off and getting May. Do it, Milissa!

    • The day I signed up I emailed them and stated that I don’t do social media and they took me immediately off the wait list. I did this for two accounts. Their CS is AMAZING p.

  11. I have been with ipsy four years and I have to say they have been amazing.. getting better and better. I got a 50$ cream in last months bag. They hit it out of the park every month and I can’t believe for only 10$ plus a glam bag! I am an ipster for life! Plus their CS is amazing too! I wish I could kiss ipsy! Lol

  12. I am pretty excited over all of these spoilers. Originally I asked for the brush but yesterday i emailed and begged for the brow product because I have never tried 1 before, I usually use a mascara. I’ve been with ipsy for a year and don’t recall seeing a brow product before either. if I don’t receive it-no biggie-I just put in my So Choix queue.

  13. I requested the Luxie brush and received a response in less than half an hour. Ipsy CS is always impressive.

  14. What do people think of the estee lauder compact?
Also, is it a foundation or what (yes I am unsure!) . It talks about coverage but doesn’t really state what it is…
I actually hope I get it though, I REALLY want something to conceal/cover and I have nothing but a lost CC cream 🙁
Also, I limit my beauty(and most other sub available stuff) purchases to sub only so I only get what comes in them! (It’s either a $$ single product or a $$ for that + however many others) It has helped give me quite the collection but it has a few holes! 🙁
*I’m on a strict student budget

    • It is a foundation, its like a cushion foundation but instead of being on a sponge there’s a button you press to pump the foundation out. The reviews so far say it tends to be a lighter coverage and a little more dewy than matte. Ipsy is my only sub because of my financial situation, and as far as foundations go, I’ve been using the same bottle of $8 Revlon foundation for like 6 or 7 months now and I’m still not close to empty, plus it works well. Foundation isn’t really something a lot of subs send because it’s so so specific

      • Oops I think it ate my comment – got an error message!
Anyways, thanks! That sounds pretty good to me!

The revlon one sounds good too, especially for tight budgets! How is it to apply?

        Thanks!
(and sorry if it winds up being a double comment!)

        • The Revlon I use is their colorstay formulation, I use the Normal/Dry skin version but there’s an oily as well. It’s a fairly medium coverage, more than a BB cream but less than something like a Kat Von D. I use a damp sponge to apply but I’ve also used an oval brush that worked well with it. I’m really really fair with really pink undertones if that makes a difference.

I also like Wet N Wilds photofocus concealer, it’s only $4, and I’ve used expensive concealers that I’ve actually liked less. Some people love Wet N Wild some people hate them it’s just a personal preference, but for the price on a budget it works.

Keep an eye out at your local CVS/Walgreens/Ulta, a lot of times they have some sort of buy x amount get x amount free or 50% off sales by brand. CVS and Walgreens also do brand specific coupons and have a great loyalty program.

Sorry to ramble I’ve just spent some time perfecting this budget makeup thing lol

          • Haha, no that’s great! Super helpful, and I know what u mean bout creating a good budget tricks! Can be hard not to talk much bout them!
Wet n wild looks good, sadly an add on on Amazon – may have to actually go to a store lol(i do 90%percent of non grocery online!)
Any idea which might have the best online deals?
Your skin sounds pretty close to mine. I do have one q – how do u tell your undertone? Sad but true I never found out…I think a make up gal once sad it was either cool or nuetral…

        • Marina, if you look @ your veins on your wrist, do they look blue or green or a mix? Blue=cool, green=warm, both=neutral and you can wear either! 🙂

          • Thanks I never knew that!!
I checked and they look fairly blue on one but kinda purple on the other… so i’m probably cool?
I can’t believe I never knew the vein thing! Thanks Sun!

          • It sounds like the veins test worked for you. 🙂 Just in case someone else is still unsure, warm undertones refer to skin with a yellowish, golden, or olive cast to the skin undertone, while cool usually refers to blue or pink undertones.

The veins test is super useful, but some people have trouble seeing their veins. The next basic test is whether silver (cool undertones) or gold (warm undertone) looks best against your skin. Also, if you tend to tan, you are more likely to have a warm undertone, while someone who burns or doesn’t tan is likely cool.

Another one that might work well for all the makeup lovers here is to see if you look better with warm colors or cool colors. If you think about the color wheel, warm colors are orange plus many yellows and reds, and cool colors are blues plus many purples and greens. You can try on a few different warm-toned lipsticks, which will be in those orange-y colors like coral, peach, and red-oranges. Cool lipstick colors will be the opposite – pinks that are blueish/ cool and blue-based reds (btw this is why people say red works on anyone – you need to make sure a red has either a cool or warm undertone to work with your skin). Whichever group is most flattering overall can help you decide your coloring.

          • Yes, it did thank you! 🙂
I actually got the foundation today! (yay, it’s early!!)
I tried it out w/ my imitation beauty blender but I think I got a little too much on – oops!
I tested it out first on the back of my hand and it blended in beautifully. However on my face I couldn’t get it to blend in some spots, mainly cheek/nose area . Also looked a little obvious in some spots, cakey even I think.
I’ll try it again tomorrow w/ less and maybe a brush this time. I just can’t seem to get the sponge to work more than 60% of my face(that much looked perfect lol)

          • Which foundation did you try? I hope it works better with less product or with a brush! I had some imitation beauty blenders and other sponges but never really mastered them lol. So I prefer a nice foundation brush and starting with a lighter hand. I used to be more obsessed with covering EVERY spot up, but it’s never perfect enough. Now I’m fine with some concealer and a formula that doesn’t cake. 🙂

          • I tried the true match in Alabaster. Once I went back and tried it later, with less, it seemed to work better. I also washed the blender extra as there was still some stuff left over so maybe that helped! I actually did some bronzer w/ it too and managed to not make it look dirty! (I am still practicing w/ bronzer/highlighter/blush) .
It did seem to make my pores stand out a bit more, but it didn’t look cakey anymore, and I actually looked a smidgen paler! *gasp* But bronzer and highlighter seemed to make me look “normal”.
I might try a normal brush later, but I realized I don’t have one just the blenders – oops!
Sorry about the late reply, I have an English paper/reading/notes on reading(it’s one of those work of 3 classes in one …)

    • I’d really suggest getting a foundation outside of a sub box since it’s not at all guaranteed that the colors will work for you. Also, most of the foundations /BB creams I’ve received in boxes have only been 1 or 2 uses (no clue how big this one will be, though).

I might be a bit pickier since I’m pretty pale and a lot of foundation hasn’t worked well with my skin (emphasized dry patches, slid off, caused breakouts, etc.). I ended up spending a bit on my final foundation, but you might be more successful with some drugstore brands. I’d just recommend that you check the makeup return policy of wherever you buy your foundation. Some drugstores won’t allow returns if the product’s been opened, and the lighting in the stores and lack of testers makes it a lot harder to find the correct shade imo. I know Ulta carries a lot of drugstore brands so that’s worth checking out. I hope this helps!

      • I will probably get one if this one doesn’t come.
Which one did you find that worked for your pale skin?
I’m super pale as well or “fair” aka beat everyone I’ve met at he who’s paler contest u do as kids lol.
Ill make sure to check the return policy on whatever I get (most of my shopping is on Amazon)
My skin never bothered me until more recently but now my occasional acne in the chin just gets to me, and my red cheeks! I never really bothered looking for them before… Cc either

        • Pale skin and red cheeks over here, too! I also get occasional acne from face products that aren’t ideal, which is partially why I’m kind of picky. And along with the red cheeks, I have pink/ cool undertones.

I wore only drugstore makeup in college and right after graduation, until I got more into makeup. So I did try a lot of foundation and BB creams. Most products I tried weren’t terrible, but pretty meh. Finding good skin tone matches was part of that, especially with BB cream (still haven’t found one that makes me look like I just used a terrible self- tanner). I used Maybelline Fit Me for a while, but the color might still be a little dark and I found that it didn’t last as long as I wanted – I didn’t know about primers or setting powders then, though.

Finally, I searched for something with lots of shades, a bit more coverage, greater staying power, and good ingredients for my skin. I now use Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Ultra Definition Liquid Makeup, which is $40 🙁 but honestly does last a long time and works great for me. In fact, my mom and sister have complimented my foundation and asked for the product name, and they almost never compliment me lol. I think it’s buildable and it actually makes my skin look pretty. 🙂

          • Wow, thanks! I was actually looking at that Maybelline one so I might get that. I only need to last min of 5 hours and I do have a primer and setting sprays(ironic right?)
Maybe later down the road ill try that urban decay one as that sounds perfect 🙂
I created a whole wish list cause of you ladies! ❤
Hopefully I can narrow down to the right one now!

      • Thanks, I’ll check that one out!
So far I’ve found a Revlon, Maybelline
and cover girl that all have super pale so but they’re ten so ill see if that one can !

        • If you need another to check out, Loreal True Match is $8 @ Target. And you can buy Target online.

          • Thanks for the brand and the target tip! Any idea what their return policy is on foundation?

          • Update – I just found what seems to be the perfect match, the true match you suggested in Alabaster. With the tips on skin undertone (cool) and brand one’s I think it’s the best one.
Plus, I found it on Amazon for same price of target if you subscribe and save (will cancel later) + and this is my favorite part, it will only be $3 dollars w/ a $5 courtesy credit I have there!
            I think i’m good with taking a chance of 3 bucks! 😀
(The true match was I think one of the only ones sold+shipped by them so that was the deciding factor! )
            Thanks everyone! <3
I'll update if anyone's interested, once I get it!
(hopefully I apply it right – off to google "how to apply foundation" )

          • I’m glad you found it on amazon. If you need to try colors from Target, they have let me return used nail polish. I like to apply liquid foundation with those inexpensive wedge “sponges” you get a bunch in one pack. You can get them everywhere even @ $ store usually. I run water over them, squeeze out, and then put foundation on the wide end and gently blend it out. If you have a beauty blender, it’s the same idea. I like the cheap ones because I wash them out after use and then toss them when they are worn out, and a bag lasts a long time especially if you don’t wear foundation every day. You can use a foundation brush too, and clean it out after you use it.

          • Thanks, and good to know about Target!
I actually have a few of those beauty blender dupes(but good dupes) from boxes so I can use those! I probably have a foundation brush from a box too… (somewhere)
It’s funny but I think I have everything to use for foundation, before and after even from boxes. Soon i’ll finally have a foundation! (hopefully it works!)

          • Also just google coupons for the brand u want….there is always makeup coupons in the sunday paper and are usually for $2-$4 off 😉

    • At Elder Beerman you can get color matched for foundation and they will give you a free 10 day sample!

      • That’s cool! Thanks for the tip!
Sadly I just googled it, searched for a location and found none 🙁
Looks like they don’t have any in the PNW
Any other stores that might do foundation match?
        Thanks

        • Sephora does shade matching too and they will give you free samples as well! I asked to be shade matched and asked for a sample to try before I buy because a lot of products break me out and they were super nice and helpful! I ended up with primer and foundation samples and I didn’t buy anything that day!

          • I had shade matching at Sephora and their Color IQ gave me something way off, so I do want to give a bit of a warning. You really need to see makeup in sunlight, unfortunately.

  15. Its really hard for me to resist luxie brushes, but I’ve heard excellent things about the caked lippie. Stephanie nicole on YouTube ranks them pretty high on her liquid lippie testing.

  16. I wish I could be more excited for these great spoilers but I’m still waiting on my April bag to arrive. Hopefully tomorrow.

  17. Is it Ipsy that let’s you opt out of a category or 2 if products? They didn’t do that in 2015 – or this letting you pick 1 sample – and I could maybe be enticed back… Do they ever offer a discount or gift to start a sub??

    • Yep, that’s right – you can opt out of a couple categories and choose a sample from a small list of items. However, in my experience, I got 2 months of something I “opted out” of before it stopped, so I’m not sure if there’s a ramp up period where their warehouse has to adjust?

    • I got a free gift when I started my sub a few months ago, though I don’t know if I’ve seen any really recently. I haven’t seen any discounts, though, since $10 is so cheap. It’s possible they do it near Black Friday or something.

    • You can opt-out of three product types and can update your opt-out whenever you like.

Ipsy sometimes offers free gifts with new subscriptions. My friend just subscribed and is receiving some kind of contour kit.

  18. Are we allowed to request one of these new spoilers? I really like the jelly pong pong duo!

    • Right now, it doesn’t look like it. People have tried to ask for other things, but they seem to be sticking with the original list for May.

      • Bummer. I like that better then the other options. Keeping my fingers crossed I still receive it anyway!!

        • It’s no harm to ask ipsy cs. I usually get what I ask for. 😉

  19. Does anybody know if the IT mascara is any good?

    • Yes!! I love it 😍

    • One of the best!

    • It is okay. I have an obsession with dramatic looking eyelashes that can be mistaken for false lashes and I purchased 2 full size “hello lashes” by IT cosmetics because I heard nothing but good things about it and yeah I didn’t think it did anything special and I tried it for a week before going back to my usual mascaras. getting a sample to try is safer than what I did.

  20. I am curious as how they are going to match people skins up with the estee lauder makeup. estee Lauder has at least 20 shades , and on ipsy profile only has 6 skin tones to choose from.

  21. Do we have any bag spoilers? I love seeing the new design!

    • I haven’t seen any bag spoilers yet, hopefully soon!
