Unique Subscription Gifts for the Person Who Has Everything

This post may contain referral/affiliate links. Read the full disclosure.

One of our favorite things about gifting subscription boxes is that you can give curated ‘gift box’ without doing all the shopping and assembly yourself! This holiday season, there are a few standout boxes that we think would be great gifts for the people on your list who are so hard to buy for. These are boxes that provide exclusive products and experiences that are always well curated, and/or lots of flexibility for the recipient (to make sure they aren’t getting something they already own). Read on to see our recommendations, and cross off those question marks on your gift list!

  1. Bespoke Post
For the design-minded guy who loves small-batch products

Bespoke Post “Prost” Oktoberfest themed box from September 2016

Why we recommend it: Bespoke Post is known for their well designed boxes that focus on high-quality products around a specific theme. They release a new set of themed boxes each month, and when you buy a gift, the recipient has the option to choose which box they want to receive… so you can ensure they’re getting something they want, but it’s more personal than just a gift card. Although intended for men and many boxes do include masculine accessories and personal care items or men’s apparel, some of the boxes are unisex and make great gifts for women, too — like those oriented around food or home products.

What’s in the box: It’s always different, but expect “best in class,” artisanal, small-batch products around various themes. Bespoke Post announces their new boxes each month and you can preview exactly what’s inside before you commit; see their current offerings by clicking “Boxes” on their website.

OK, What else should I know:
    Price: $45/month
Frequency: Monthly (but you can easily skip any month if you’re not interested in the current themes)

How to give as a gift: Click “Gift a Gift” and choose a 1, 3, 6, or 12 month subscription.

  2. BRIKA
For the design-minded woman who loves maker-made modern craft

The BRIKA box we received in August, including a handmade bracelet (with fun confetti!) and a faceted vase

Why we recommend it: BRIKA is designed for gifting and is 100% personalized to your recipient, so you can be sure they’ll get something unique that they’ll love! You’ll give them some direction about the recipient’s interests and tastes, and BRIKA’s Gift Concierge does the rest, selecting products from their inventory of modern, contemporary crafts from makers around the world. They’ll even handwrite a note for you and include it in the box!

What’s in the box: A handwritten note and gift items curated specifically for the recipient.

OK, What else should i know:
Price: $25/month (can be purchased in 3 or 6 month lengths only)
    Frequency: Monthly
How to give as a gift: All BRIKA subscriptions are designed to be gifts, so just head over to their site and follow the prompts.

  3. Robb Vices
For the most interesting man or woman in the world

Robb Vices’ July shipment included everything you need to serve up some tropical-inspired drinks, complete with pineapple glasses!

Why we recommend it: One of the few boxes where we see truly new and innovative concepts every month – an MSA reader favorite! “Robb Vices delivers a curated selection of exceptional goods that tell a story of authenticity and intrigue. Created by the publishers of Robb Report, each delivery includes products that represent the highest standards of quality and craftsmanship. In any given month you can expect unique foods to taste, spirits to fill your glass with, as well as tools and toys that empower the ultimate host and that will make the most discerning connoisseur smile.”

What’s in the box: Expect a mix of alcohol, food, and corresponding products like glassware, gadgets, and more. Each shipment is a cohesive collection of products that come together to create a unique experience that can be relished alone or enjoyed with a small group of friends, including an informational booklet with lots of background info on the brands and products.

OK, What else should i know:
21+ Only: Robb Vices almost always includes alcohol, so someone 21+ must be available to sign for each delivery.
    Price: $75/month
    Frequency: Monthly
How to give as a gift: On their homepage, click “Give a Gift” and select a 1, 3, 6, or 12 month plan. These plans appear to recur, so you do need to cancel once your intended subscription length is complete.

  4. POPSUGAR Must Have x Neiman Marcus Limited Edition Box
For anyone with luxury tastes on an outlet mall budget
Why we recommend it: POPSUGAR does this box every holiday season, and we’ve been fans of this collaboration since the beginning! It’s an amazing gift for anyone who wants a little taste of luxury in their life. It’s also the perfect box to buy and break up into smaller gifts, so you can have a little something special for everyone on your list for practically no effort.

What’s in the box: “We’ve created the ultimate box just in time for the holidays. Co-curated by Lisa Sugar and Neiman Marcus Fashion Director Ken Downing, they’ve chosen the perfect mix of luxe surprises ready to gift to loved ones or to yourself — you deserve it!” Past boxes have included 6-8 items with a retail value of $650+.

OK, What else should i know:
    Price: $250
Frequency: This is a one-time purchase and only available for a limited time!
How to give as a gift: Since this is a one-time box, you don’t have to subscribe to purchase – just visit this page to buy. Boxes will ship by Dec 5 by FedEx Smartpost according to POPSUGAR, so keep that in mind when deciding whether to ship to you and give in person, or ship directly to the recipient.

  5. Boxwalla Film and Book Boxes
For the explorer of contemporary world culture, film, and literature

Boxwalla Book Subscription Box October 2016

Why we recommend it: Unless your recipient is already an art-house cinema buff, Boxwalla Film is a unique box that’s a great introduction to classic film and film history — definitely a good pick for arts-and-culture leaning friends who are looking to expand their horizons further. Boxwalla Book also surprises us each month with unique picks from around the world, which they describe as “must-read but not as widely read as they deserve to be.” Boxwalla’s great packaging makes these two boxes feel even more special and suitable for gifting.

What’s in the box: Boxwalla Film comes with 2 full-length films with a common element or theme, plus background information and discussion material. Boxwalla Book contains three thoughtfully curated books by prospective Nobel laureates from around the world, plus occasional extras.

OK, What else should I know:
Subscription orders for December delivery close November 25th, but they often have one-time boxes available for purchase, too, if you miss the cutoff. (In addition to Film and Book, Boxwalla also has Green Beauty and Food boxes!)

    Price: $49.95
    Frequency: Every other month
How to give as a gift: Boxwalla does not have a gift option, so you’ll need to subscribe with the recipient’s shipping address.

  6. Flaviar
A quarterly speakeasy in a box for exploring new spirits

Why we recommend it: Flaviar is the go-to place to discover and taste craft and premium spirits – from Bourbon and Scotch to Rum, Gin, Cognac and others, as well as learn the ways of a true whiskey aficionado. Membership costs $60 per quarter ($20 / month) and offers a wide variety of perks & benefits you will not find elsewhere, with an undertone of a 1920’s speakeasy club.

What’s in the box: Quarterly curated tasting packs that contain 3 x 1.5 oz. vials of premium spirits from around the world. All new members receive a welcome pack containing three craft whiskeys.

  7. Luxor Box

Why we recommend it: Luxor Box is an amazing luxury gift in and of itself, but it’s also one of the best boxes for splitting up the items into multiple gifts, too. We often find products here that we don’t see in other boxes.

What’s in the box: Five to seven full-size, hand-picked, products with a value of $250+ per delivery. Surprise selections will range from high-end spa products, top-shelf beauty products, jewelry, apparel, home accessories and unique treasures from around the world.

  1. Rob Vices does not ship to all states – For example, PA prohibits it because it sometimes contains alcohol and that would violate their liquor laws. I know this because I’m in PA and have been lusting over it for months!!
