GlobeIn Club October 2016 Box Spoilers

GlobeIn is launching a new subscription box, and we have the spoilers for their first box!

The Subscription Box: GlobeIn Club

The Cost: $10

The Products:”GlobeIn Club members will receive one artisan product (it can be anything from a mug to jewelry to home decor products) each month. In addition members can add more fair trade products to their monthly package (the “empowerment pack”) at exclusive, members-only prices.”

Members who join before September 31st will receive their first package by mid-October.

Shibori Scarf by Matr Boomie (India), Retail $25.

Artisan Story:

Traditionally a Japanese technique, Shibori is a process of dyeing cloth in which stitching, binding, and folding are used to create geometric and tie-dye patterns. The intricacies of this demanding craft have been passed down through many generations of women to the ones whose hands expertly crafted your new piece.

In western Rajasthan, India, economic opportunity is scarce. Most residents of this dry desert region rely on crafts, tourism, and mining for their livelihoods. Through their fair trade partnership with Matr Boomie, the small group of Muslim women responsible for making your scarf are connecting with international markets and exciting new prospects for economic stability.

  1. I love GlobeIn and all of their products, but am really disappointed at this turn of events.

    They lured in their dedicated subscribers with the promise of a new, exclusive item.

    It seems like it would be far better to postpone the launch of this new box, rather than disappoint so many dedicated and loyal subscribers/customers.

    I understand that I can cancel my brand new subscription, but that’s not really a satisfactory response/option. Definitely leaves a bad taste in the mouth.

    GlobeIn states they didn’t anticipate the number of subscribers who signed up for this new box. However, GlobeIn DID have the option to LIMIT the number of initial subscribers to the number of new products they had available.

    Instead, it appears that they decided to offer unlimited subscriptions and then, in a classic bait and switch, are now going to start off the subscription with an item that, albeit is a nice one, is not an exclusive new item, but rather one the majority of their dedicated and loyal subscribers already have.

    I actually have one of these scarves in each color, as I ordered a second with my last GlobeIn box. They are beautiful and $10 for one of these is a great price. I don’t really need a third, however.

    I do hope GlobeIn will consider limiting future subs when they know they won’t be able to deliver on a promise. This isn’t the first time they’ve run out of a product or had to deliver it later than anticipated. GlobeIn needs to demonstrate growth – that they can learn from their mistakes – rather than just continuing to make the same ones over, while offering up apologies.

    Even with the very best subscription boxes – and I consider GlobeIn to be one of the absolute best boxes out there – growing too fast only results in disappointment and lost faith.

    • I am going to keep my GlobeIn memberships, because I do want to support GlobeIn’s causes.

      However, I hope they will take seriously how many of their subscribers they have let down in this instance. It’s not about the $10 or whether or not it’s a quality scarf. It’s making a promise that you don’t deliver on – when you have other options.

      In this situation, I think it would have been wiser to limit the number of subscribers for the new box. Just my opinion, for what it’s worth.

  2. Love this color, I got the grey blue one in my Artisan box and wanted the green. This makes a great gift to a strong woman that stands for something! These subs from GlobeIn help to take care of others in need through their participation with GlobeIn. My mother in law loves getting these things for gifts. I always send the little pic explaining where it came from and who made it in the gift box. That makes it truly a different gift experience.

  4. I don’t know how I feel about this. I don’t wear scarves although they’re very stylish right now. I also don’t know who I would gift this to. I’m on the edge but I’ll give this new sub a month or two. I am not crazy about green either as some posters have mentioned. Would be nicer to have a color choice (purple).

    I am so sorry about the confusion! We had to make a quick product decision based on the demand for GlobeIn Club this month. We feel that the beautiful Shibori Scarf will provide the best value to our club members than any other product. The scarf is exclusive to GlobeIn and handmade by artisans in India.

    The club products won’t duplicate Artisan Box products in the same month but you might see an Artisan Box product featured in the Club from time to time.

    One of the main reasons why we might repeat products is because we want to give the artisans we work with a sustainable source of income by placing repeat orders with them. This tremendously increases the positive impact that you are helping us create in the artisan communities all over the world. Having said that, we will always strive to provide the absolute best value to our customers!

    We heavily rely on our customers’ feedback when deciding on Artisan Box products, we will do the same with GlobeIn Club.

    • I appreciate the response and I love what the company stands for. However, I have gone ahead and cancelled as I do not need multiple of the same item. Perhaps this is a sub box priced at a cheaper amount for those who can’t or don’t want to spend the money on the bigger boxes. I just loved my Artisan boxes so much that I thought this smaller box would be a fun addition. I get it. I do feel like the communication of this box and how it was being marketed was a bit misleading. I am not upset but I fear there will be others who may be. Thank you for the opportunity to cancel.

  6. This is disappointing. GlobeIn told us that there wouldn’t be any overlap in items between subscription boxes. I love what this company stands for, but I feel that customers were misled.

  7. As someone who has never subscribed to other GlobeIn subscription types, I’m excited about the scarf, the part I don’t understand is that this is also an add on for this box so if people don’t see the spoiler and they added it on they might be disappointed.
    Considering their store doesn’t have a plethora of items I wouldn’t assume that all of the different memberships wouldn’t overlap in product but I assumed that from the get go….we can’t work those artisans to the bone…lol
    As for me..love the scarf and now that I know what’s coming I may add some baskets since I don’t have any <3

  10. Wasn’t that the scarf from the August box? I agree with Annie, I’d be mad if I got the new sub, only to get repeat items from the Artisan box.

    • It is im so dissapointed in them. Liz commented on the spoiler/announcement that we would be getting a new never before seen item for the launch box…this is the same scarf just a different color…kinda feel lied to and may email about this..

      • I don’t see that being stated in the previous post about this new club. The previous post states that we’d get one item and be able to add more things onto our box at exclusive prices. Someone even asked if there would be repeats in the club box and someone from GlobeIn chimed in and said there could be.

          • Well, it sounds like they didn’t make any promises on repeat items. As for the first exclusive product, from their reply it sounds like they had ano unfortunate circumstance with the item they thought they would do but they are offering the chance to cancel so it seems like it’s being handled properly.
            Can’t wait for my first club box!

  11. I love the idea of this but am not super crazy about the spoiler. I used to subscribe but I can’t justify the amount but at this price it’s a great deal 🙂

  12. A little bummed because I got one of these in the Artisan Box. I thought they would be different items so I signed up for the Club subscription as well. The Benefits box (which I don’t get) is usually different items that compliment or match items in the Artisan box so I thought the Club box would be similar. This spoiler makes me think I need to cancel the Club box… 🙁

    • You have perfectly stated my thoughts!! The Benefit basket compliments the Artisan Box.. It would be a better idea for GlobeIn to continue with this type of formatting.. It made you feel like you HAD to have all of their boxes!!!
