Yankee Hollow is a new gourmet cheese subscription box. I avoid dairy - but my husband doesn't, so he was thrilled when Yankee Hollow offered to send us the October box to review!
Yankee Hollow ships 2-day Priority Mail, and uses ice packs and insulation to keep the cheese at the right temperature during shipping. Our box arrived perfectly chilled. (It's also pretty cold these days, so not sure if the same method would work during summer).
The Subscription Box: Yankee Hollow
The Cost: $35 a month (includes shipping)
The Products: 2-4 Gourmet cheeses with tasting notes
Check out the Food Subscription Box Directory for other food and snack subscription boxes!
Each box comes with cards detailing the cheeses, and where they're from.
On the flip side of each card lists more information about how the cheese is made, tasting notes, and pairing suggestions for wine and beer.
There was also a recipe for Edelweiss Raw Milk Grassfed Gouda Twice Baked Squash.
Raw Milk Grassfed Gouda
Red Rock Cheddar
My husband loved the gouda and liked the cheddar, but thought it was a little too adventurous for him.
Abergele Cheese
Salted Bourbon Caramel
The Abergele was my husband's favorite cheese in the group. We now have to look for Abergele cheese the next time we go to Trader Joe's! He said the caramel was excellent too!
Verdict: I think we're going to have to subscribe to Yankee Hollow - my husband absolutely loved this box! (And it's probably a good idea to have a few more boxes that are for him and not for me!) Oh, and we ended up keeping the cheese tasting set from the September Tyler Florence Fancy Box instead of gifting it thanks to this box!
