  1. I tried Butcher Box and was not impressed. They substituted pork ribs for steak which is not comparable. I also felt the value was not there. I then tried Moink and received my box and was very impressed with what I received and felt the value and quality was there.

  2. I have done Hello Fresh and Plated for the last three years and have tried ALL of the others in between. I love Plated to try a lot of international dishes and Hello Fresh provides classic ones. HF comes on Tuesday and the Plated on Saturday. I would be lost without them

  3. Putting this here also to warn everyone about hungryroot. I don’t think MSA always gets the full picture of how a sub box treats regular subscribers who aren’t affiliates, reps, influencers, bloggers or what not.

This company is awful and I hope MSA discontinues reviewing them. I received a warm box despite the box arriving on time and when I was home to immediately unpack and refrigerate. The contents were very obviously spoiled and had started to ferment. Not kidding, my kitchen smelled like pickles after I unpacked the box.
That sort of thing happens with meal kits sometimes, sure. I reported the issue without an ounce of rudeness and they offered a credit to my account. I would be fine with a credit if the issue was minor, maybe a damaged item or two, but having to throw out the entire order? I replied to the agent and my email bounced back saying they opted out of receiving any more emails from me. Okay? Now I was slightly irritated. I re-summarized the issue and my request for a refund and sent it to the main email address instead of replying to the agent who was helping me. That email bounced back too. Apparently if there’s an issue with your order Hungry Root blocks all of your emails and there is no way to call them. should also add that nobody responded to me via text (their other contact option according to their website).
Now I have to file a claim with my credit card company. Do not try Hungry Root!!

    • That is crazy! I agree, I would have wanted a credit to whichever card I paid with, not my account with them.

    • Thank you for sharing this information. I have received fermented items from them as well (not a whole box, but multiple items in one box). I opted for the credit since it was a few items and had no issues getting the credits and using them for future orders. Though I seem to get fermented something in each order and have a revolving credit for a couple of items each week…which keeps me going back because I have a credit to use. I recently started skipping orders and am not sure if I will use the remaining credit after learning this I got from you.

    • Hi Stephanie,

We’re so sorry about this experience with your order as well as the issue with your emails not going through in our system. We’re woking on a solution right now and understand how disappointing it is to have an issue with a delivery and feel like your not getting the support you need.

Our Customer Service Manager, Ashley, has been in contact with you to confirm a refund to your credit card. Should you need any additional support, please let Ashley know.
The fastest way to get help with any Hungryroot issue is to let our support team know immediately at [email protected]. If for any reason you don’t feel your messages are coming through to our team you can reach us via text (855) 222-5704 or social DMs (@hungryroot).

      • Hi Hungryroot,

Thanks, of course I did speak immediately to customer service over email, which I sent within an hour of delivery (and you guys never replied to my text). I would never post something like this if I hadn’t already exhausted all channels of communication without a resolution. Indeed, Ashley got in touch with me today, only after I went so far as to comment on Instagram some days later. My issue would’ve never been taken care of had I not done so. I showed Ashley screenshots of my reply to the CS rep bouncing back as well as my message to the main email, [email protected], shortly thereafter. My email to that address had gone through successfully some hours prior, as did my communication with the CS rep, then suddenly I was blocked from emailing hungryroot at all (as an active paying subscriber with a damaged order). I’m sure you can understand that I was left with no options so I decided to just let others know to be weary of ordering, as I was left with no food to show for the pretty penny I spent and no way to reach you. Ashley let me know today that that was a mistake and is working on fixing an internal email issue. As for the issues of spoiled food I would recommend better packaging for warm climates/seasons. Let the record stand that you’ve today issued a refund for the box of food I had to throw away and I hope you get the email issue fixed so none of your customers are left without resolutions to problems or questions.
