First Impressions

Along with our beauty items, we received a brochure that details all of the included items for this Limited Edition Halloween Box. I appreciate the photos, retail prices, and summaries of the items for a little extra background information, and to see just how good of a deal I scored.

Lottie London Starry Eyed Stamp Liner - Retail Value $5.98

I am a makeup enthusiast and I love playing around with different techniques, but I am quite partial to a smoky eye with winged liner for my everyday look. After subscribing to IPSY for years, I never thought I would run out of black liquid eyeliner, but the day hath finally come and I was in dire need of more liner! While I haven't reviewed this particular product in the past, I have used it, and am a fan. One end of this liner is a felt pen that is of the perfect stiffness to create an effortless winged edge, and the other is a star stamp. I don't think I will be using the star stamp on my face, but my son thought it was super cool for us to have matching star "tattoos" on our hands while we were testing it out. What did you think of this inclusion? Are you on liquid liner overload or were you happy to receive more black eyeliner?

Milani Make it Last Setting Spray - Estimated Value $5.21 (Buy a 2.03 oz container for $8.97)

I've tried a variety of setting sprays and powders in my lifetime and I just haven't found the "one." Some are too dewy looking for me, and others are too powdery, but this one I think has the potential to be the best one I have ever tried. Complete with a matte finish, this lightweight formula sprays evenly setting makeup for all-day wear, while reducing the appearance of pores. The cap instructs you to shake and spray 10 inches from your face. I have used it throughout the week at school and found my makeup looking much better by the end of the day than it did without, which is pretty exciting. I find the inclusion of charcoal in this product interesting, but it apparently helps control oil, which I did actually notice and am in need of the most! Don't spray too close to your face though- it does have a slightly grey color to it if you spray it too thick and allow it to run.

Profusion Halloween 2021 Palette (Exclusive to the Halloween Walmart Box!) - Listed Value $4.99

I am loving this adorable coffin-shaped eyeshadow palette! Coordinating perfectly with the Halloween theme, this little palette features four vibrant eyeshadows. While all of the hues are beautiful, I tend to stay away from red and pink eyeshadows as I feel they make me look like I am coming down with conjunctivitis, but did fall in love with the pearl and plum colors. The color payout was right on par with some of my favorite brands, and it lasted all day without creasing and smearing. A fun inclusion in some very autumny colors.

Revlon ColorStay Satin Ink in Black Cherry - Retail Value $7.97

One of my favorite things about fall is the brilliant warm colors of leaves matched with warm, oversized clothing and one way I enjoy incorporating that into my life is via lipstick. Because of masks, I have pretty much given up on my lipstick, but am slowly adding it back in when I can. I was excited to see the inclusion of a full-sized satin lipstick in this limited edition box. I was a bit hesitant at first thinking this hue may be too dark for my complexion, but was pleasantly surprised. As for the 16 hour stay time, I'd say that's a little excessive. I put it on first thing in the morning and was happy to see it didn't rub off on my kids after their morning kisses. I went ahead and drank my coffee and noticed a lipstick ring around my coffee cup. The lipstick still looked good and I didn't need to re-apply. I ate breakfast with no smears, but by lunch, it was quite splotchy and some was worn off. For short-term use, or with the ability to reapply, I think this lipstick is great, but if you are wanting a lipstick that lasts all day, I don't think this is the type to purchase. The included pamphlet did mention colors will vary - what color did you get?

Kitty snuggles before school are the best! I used the Lottie London eyeliner, Milani setting spray, Revlon lipstick, and three out of the four Profusion eyeshadow colors to create this look.

invisibobble WAVER - Retail Value $6.00

In the Fall Box, I received a set of multi-colored invisibobble WAVER clips, but this time we received a set of clear, glittery ones that are about half the size of the previous package. Like I mentioned in the Walmart Fall 2021 Box Review I have a bit of a hair accessory hoarding problem (I actually sewed two headbands this morning for school this week) but I just can't get enough! These little clips are more comfortable than a bobby pin, hold my hair more securely, and don't leave indents in my hair PLUS they look super cute. What more can a girl ask for? Except for a larger bathroom and more storage space to organize all of these hair accessories. 😊

Wet N' Wild Fantasy Makers Gem Mask - Retail Value $3.50

I have to say, this is the most sparkly and exciting item in the box and I had no idea I could ever need it. This "Moonlit Maven" gem mask comes with self-adhesive stickies to apply on your face in the pattern shown in the packaging. They come off easily and adhere securely without falling off. I placed them over makeup and they lasted all day, with the exception of one star that just didn't like to be on my forehead. When my kids were young, I would go all out and make homemade coordinating costumes for our entire family, but as our lives get busier and then the pandemic hit, I kind of transitioned out of it. Maybe this year if we get to go trick-or-treating I will don one of these masks and show a little more sport. Where are you going to wear your gem mask?

More kitty pictures! My husband wasn't quite sure what to think when he came home from work to see me with these sparkly decals, but I think I'm going to try and reuse a few of them for homecoming week at school...these just have to fit with one of the crazy dress-up days they have planned. Wish me luck!

Verdict

I love Halloween, and decorate on September 1st in preparation, so receiving this bright orange and yellow package in the mail was very exciting for me. When I opened it I was thoroughly impressed because of all of the full-sized items and the quality of the curation. When I receive a box where all items prove useful and exciting to me I am ecstatic, and this was one of those boxes. Not only did I discover my new favorite setting spray, but I also was happy to receive the Lottie London liner as I just ran out. The lipstick didn't have the staying power I love, but it was a beautiful color and worked well for half days, and the other items were just plain fun. I did notice the online prices were a bit different than the ones in the brochure and wonder if these may be store prices but am not 100% sure. What did you think of this Halloween box? Will these items be helpful in your everyday wear or on Halloween night?

The total value of this quarter's box came out to be about $30.15, which is a little bit lower than the suggested value of $33.00, but still a good deal as it was worth triple the cost of the box. Receiving all of the full-sized items this month was exciting, and the items were curated so well I am thinking about ordering another one.

I just received my box and agree it’s so adorable! That mini coffin profusion palette was the main reason I got it, it was too cute to pass up. I got a different color lipstick, pumpkin something. I love pumpkin-y dark orange-y lippies though I’d have loved to have gotten the shade you received. That is my “every day” fall color lol The gem mask I’m going to use a little different and just use a couple gems on a bunch of different looks. Sometimes a gem or two really amps up a “regular” look. My little is all grown up so no more trick or treating and I don’t go to parties so I don’t have anywhere to wear a full gem mask but a few on my every day look will spice it up. Same with the star stamp though I’m happy to hear the liner is also good. Hopefully I like the setting spray as I usually go for a dewy base but I’ll give it a try. Definitely can’t beat this box for $10

I’m glad you enjoyed your box Stacy! That pumpkin lipstick sounds intriguing! I may have to look into that one! I like the idea of using the gem mask in separate groups for more looks. I love spicing up my everyday look, so I might have to try that next time!! Thanks for commenting!

I really love the lip color! I am a total fan of deep lip colors. The pandemic and masks are killing me. As far as who can wear what, just try it and be brave. You will probably get compliments.
