IPSY Glam Bag Plus is a $28 per month subscription box from IPSY. Every month you’ll receive five full-sized beauty products. The box will have a retail value of at least $120. (This box was voted as one of the best makeup subscription boxes and best beauty subscription boxes by MSA readers!)

My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

First Impressions

As always, my goodies arrived in the pink IPSY bubble mailer.

Also included was an info card, though individual items inside this month were not featured.

The drawstring bag this month was a very Clueless-inspired yellow plaid. As if!

Now, on to the items!

Sweet Chef Turmeric + Vitamin C Booster Eye Cream, 0.5 fl oz - Retail Value $17.99

Sweet Chef is a brand I enjoy a lot, and, fun fact, it is the sister company of Glow Recipe! So if you find yourself loving GR products, Sweet Chef will be another brand to check out for sure. This eye cream arrives in a glass pot and is filled with goodies specifically formulated to nourish the sensitive skin around your peepers like brightening niacinamide, loads of anti-aging antioxidants, panthenol, and more. It didn't have much of a smell and the texture was light and almost whipped!

SUR.MEDIC+ Super Hyaluronic 100 Amino-Acid Cleanser, 100 mL - Retail Value $20

This felt like a mostly unremarkable cream cleanser with a very faint scent and some foaming action. It doesn't take much to get your face clean and it does so without stripping it. It also has a few different weights/sizes of hyaluronic acid along with panthenol, allantoin, and exfoliating gluconolactone.

Cannalogica Facial Hydration Oil, 1 fl oz - Retail Value $50

I really like using hemp seed oil because I have personally noticed it helps with redness and provides a great amount of slip for a massage too! This formulation is straightforward: hemp seed oil and sunflower seed oil with a blend of fragrant oils like lemongrass, mint, and oregano. I am someone who can't stand lemongrass. Seriously, it reminds me of mosquito repellant and I just won't use it. So although I like this blend, this will be regifted to my mom.

IL MAKIAGE Color Boss Squad Palette in 'The Real Deal' - Retail Value $36

I was actually blown away by this palette. And I have reviewed MANY palettes. Despite it only having four shades and looking pretty average in terms of the colors, the formulas are incredible. The pigment levels and utter smoothness were really surprising. I don't even have strong feelings about this brand either way, but this palette.. wow! The color story is also incredibly flattering on my skin tone and with my hair and eyes. That second matte color is especially marvelous, even by itself all over my lid. I also loved the heavyweight of the silver compact and the handy built-in mirror. This one is a winner!

Laura Geller Baked Blush-n-Brighten Marbleized Blush in 'Tropic Hues', 4.5 g - Retail Value $28

I would never consider myself a big Laura Geller makeup fan, but one thing this brand does do incredibly well is their baked blush. They are stunning to look at even before you apply them but the marbelized baked surface creates a perfect blush blend when you use a larger fluffy brush. I also discovered this really cool video of exactly how baked blush is made and it made me appreciate this stuff even more. This particular shade is a blend of pink and coppery coral that transforms into a really great shade when mixed, as you can see below. The coverage is also buildable so you can look just a little sunkissed or really go full glam, your choice!

Verdict

I ended up loving this month's IPSY Glam Bag Plus bag even though the spoilers weren't all that exciting. I hope October is a repeat of this because, again, I wasn't blown away by the spoiled options. I am always in for happy surprises though, and this month was one. The eyeshadow palette and the blush were utter perfection for my complexion and both had great formulas! I also love the Sweet Chef eye cream and thought the cleanser was pretty nice. The hemp oil would have been a home run if not for the scent, but my mom will love it. The total value inside was $151.99 which is awesome for a $28 bag!

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

I’m so glad to learn I’m not the only one who can’t stand the smell of lemongrass!
