What's Inside The Box

Lotus Organic Cotton Mesh Produce Bags, 3 bags - Listed Value $18.00

I reviewed this set of bags in last summer's shipment; here is what I had to say about it then:

I really love using mesh bags to store and purchase produce. Strong organic cotton ensures that your fruits and veggies will not bust through (like they typically do in a plastic bag), and the standout detail on this trio is definitely the drawstring closure; I will no longer have nectarines or apples roaming the trunk of my car. These bags are machine washable and oh so handy!

I couldn't find this set of three bags, but you can buy a set of 5 or 9 here.

J&L Naturals Face Salve - Retail Value $16.99

J&L's Face Salve checks all of the boxes. Made with all-natural, vegan ingredients, this salve comes in sturdy compostable packaging. Using shea butter, grapeseed oil, and candelilla wax this salve moisturizes, calms, and nourishes your skin for 24 hours of hydration. I have sworn off using essential oils in skincare because my skin is so sensitive, but this will make an excellent cuticle cream. The lavender and tea tree oils have an aromatherapy effect, and it is lovely.

ME Mother Earth Reusable Cutlery - Retail Value $19.99 (on sale for $17.49)

I am thankful to greenUP for my collection of travel cutlery, and this is the best addition, yet. First of all, I love this metal style. All of the tools here extend making it truly portable and so convenient to stash in the smallest of bags. The spork and knife fold in half, and they are sturdy when you snap them in place. The straws extend to fit tall beverages, and the silicone tips are a really nice touch!

H&J Stainless & Bamboo Lunchbox - Listed Value $26.99

Stylish and petite, this lunchbox will be the talk of the break room. My coworkers may be a little jealous when I flash this baby at lunchtime. The stainless steel box is dishwasher safe and is the perfect size for a small lunch. The bamboo top requires washing by hand (avoid soaking), which is forgivable because it looks so good and it saves another plastic lid from ending up in a landfill. The bamboo lid is lined with a silicone ring for a tight fit, topped with an elastic strap and you have a leak-resistant container.

ELM Refillable Lip Balm - Listed Value $14.99

Everything about this balm looks great on paper, but it isn't the type of chapstick I typically go for. It is too soon to say whether it can give me the moisture I need, but my first impression is that it is the type of chapstick you apply and it is gone within 20 minutes without any lasting effects. I can't find this product online, but greenUP's info sheet says that you can buy refills for this balm online.

H&G Silicone Reusable Bag - Listed Value $12.00

I reviewed this bag in last fall's shipment; here is what I had to say about it then:

Last Christmas, my sister gifted me a set of Stasher silicone bags (very similar to this product); when I opened them, I thought they were so neat, but I wasn’t sure if I would use them too often. Well, at this point, I don’t know what I would do without them. I bring snacks everywhere I go, especially when I am running around with the baby, and this bag, like the Stashers, is the perfect substitute for a plastic sandwich bag, plus, you don’t get that plastic taste that transfers into your food. This bag is dishwasher and microwave safe, too!

Last summer's box included a pink bag, but I am loving this turquoise version even more.

Verdict

The Fall Box from greenUP told a story that I've heard before but never mind revisiting. I like all of the items sent this month, but a lot of them were repeat items, either exactly the same or tweaked just a little. I am always impressed by the quality of each item from greenUP, but I wish they sent an item this month that made me change the way I consumed plastic. Each greenUP shipment inspires me to increase my eco-friendliness to different aspects of my life. This curation included items that are not only eco-friendly, but are practical and always useful. For $64.95, I received a retail value of $106.46; the price went up by $10 since the Summer Box, but I still see value in this subscription.

I’m a self-proclaimed “cool mom” who loves a little, who am I kidding, a lot of razzle-dazzle. I have been box-obsessed for over 10 years, and I am always on the hunt for new beauty, fun flair and trendy clothing boxes. A fun night for me includes an exfoliating foot mask and a bag of Dot's Pretzels while binging Rupaul’s Drag Race.

I am very interested in eco-friendly sub boxes, but I always see the same types of items — reusable flatware, food storage containers, and fabric bags. I would love to see more innovative products.
