First Impressions

Boxycharm always arrives with a cute card detailing all of the products inside and listed retail values.

Now, on to the items!

GLAMGLOW YOUTHMUD Glow Stimulating & Exfoliating Treatment Mask, 1.7 oz - Retail Value $60

Oh, this stuff brings back memories. I remember when it first launched! It is that chunky grey mask with weird black spots we all remember and love. I couldn't afford the full-size back then so this feels weirdly luxurious. It also feels exactly like I remember it: cooling, tingly, and sometimes a little burny. Is burny a word? Spellcheck says no, but we are going with it. The ingredients inside this pot are arguably geared towards skin less dry than mine: kaolin clay, magnesium aluminum silicate (a type of clay), and pumice. But I love this stuff as a spot treatment, or in my case right now, a hormonal acne jaw treatment. It does a great job of drying out active acne while still keeping anti-aging in mind with the inclusion of cica, green tea, and other antioxidants. It is the sort of mask that dried down completely and in terms of appearance, is ideal for this Halloween time of year!

HUDA BEAUTY Demi Matte Cream Liquid Lipstick in 'Day Slayer', 3.6 mL - Retail Value $20

I feel like Boxy has been on a kick of sending me really great lipsticks in shades that couldn't be worse for me and I am trying not to take it personally. I love the formula is this demi-matte liquid lipstick. It is comfortable to wear and flake-free. As far as nudes go, this one isn't the worst I have ever seen on myself but it still isn't a shade I will reach for, ever. I think if it was just a touch more pink it might have been really pretty. Again, this is such a great matte formula and if you haven't ever tried it, I highly recommend.

Georgette Klinger Marula Primer, 1.7 fl oz- Retail Value $32

I don't really wear enough makeup most days to justify a primer, but I always appreciate a primer that can double as skincare. This one has enough great ingredients to justify that statement: marula oil, hyaluronic acid, panthenol, and antioxidants. This cream has a serum feel to it and is lightweight without any remarkable scent to speak of. I did try it under my concealer around my eyes and on my forehead and it did help minimize texture.

Pinky Rose Cosmetics Hip Hop & Jazz Base Stick Set - Retail Value $20

I feel like it has been a long time since I had sticks like this and I liked these! The nude shade is actually ideal as a concealer for me and works under my brow too. The coppery shade is very pretty and super wonderful for fall. It applies with loads of pigment and easily blends with the finger.

INSERT NAME HERE Quick Slick, 18 mL - Retail Value $18

I think this is a cool sort of product to see in my box, though I don't think I will use it super often. It is basically a mascara-like tube with a clear gel that is perfect for taming flyaways or polishing the edges of your perfect tight ponytail. It seemed to work quite well, this is just something I don't see myself using super often. It is made of nourishing oils that somehow aren't heavy.

Verdict

This month's BoxyCharm could have been a home run if the lippie would have been a better color. I loved the nostalgia of the GlamGlow mask and thought the primer and sticks were super fun. I likely won't use the hair slick often but I can appreciate seeing different products like this in my box for sure. The overall value of $150 is also great for the cost of the box.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

Am I the only one that combines my too dull lip colors with my too bright colors?

Snow

I tend to like a bright lip and tone everything else down 😁

Snow – same here. I’m all about a bright, colorful lip. I can’t stand neutral colors.

Rosemary

I LOVE HUDA lip products when they are a usable color. Such a shame this one wasn’t a great color for you.

I have never received a decent lip color I’d wear from boxy. Usually it’s brown. I’ve received dark dark brown, medium brown, and nude brown. I’ve never received anything pink, peach or even red. I did receive that KVD lip years ago that was neon purple. But since then it’s been brown every time.
