The Breakdown – What’s Inside The Box

Be Bella Cosmetics Life in Pastel Palette - Retail Value $12

This is exactly the type of eyeshadow palette I would hope to receive in this subscription- it's fun, colorful, and definitely out of my comfort zone. With a subscription box like Tribe Beauty Box, I definitely want to try new products and colors that may not necessarily be in my wheelhouse, and this gorgeous rainbow palette is perfect. I am in love with the shimmery and glittery shades- they are so stunning! The matte shades weren't the most pigmented (they needed some extra swipes to build up to the color payoff I would like), but the shimmers are incredibly pigmented and multidimensional. They applied best when I went in with my fingers, and I had good results with staying power when I used them with an eyeshadow primer (specifically, the one sent in this box!).

Here are the matte shades swatched.

And here are the shimmers and glitters. I appreciate that all of the mattes have corresponding shimmer shades, and I am still drooling over that chunky pink glitter that has a gold-blue shift. Here's a video of them in action.

Mirabelle Beauty Waterproof Eyeshadow Primer, 0.08 oz - Retail Value $20

I am very stoked that an eyeshadow primer was included in this box- for a shimmery, colorful eyeshadow palette you really need a primer for the best results, but Tribe Beauty Box already knew that and made sure we were covered. I had no issues with this primer- sometimes eyeshadow primers can feel thick and heavy on my eyelids, but once I applied this primer and let it dry I couldn't even tell it was there. I definitely think it helped to maximize the intensity of the colorful shadows I applied on top, and I didn't have issues with the shimmery shades creasing when I used this as a base.

Here is a look I did using the palette and eyeshadow primer from this box.

Makeup Drop Body Applicator - Retail Value $20

This isn't a product I personally will use, but I appreciate the uniqueness of it- I've never had a silicone body applicator sent in a subscription box before. The idea behind this is you can use it to apply anything from sunless tanner to body makeup and everything in between like lotions, masks, and more. If I am applying anything below my neck I am definitely just using my hands, but this could be useful for those who have nice collarbones and like to accentuate them with a shimmery body oil without getting glitter everywhere (I am not someone who has nice collarbones). The silicone material is non-toxic and hypoallergenic, and it easily rinses clean after you use it.

Julep Beauty Hint of Pink Transforming Lip Oil, 0.18 0z - Retail Value $22

This was a blast from the past- I haven't thought about Julep Beauty since their monthly maven subscription box ended. It looks like their website has still been operating, though, and this lip oil is still available for sale. I'm a fan of lip oils, and this one has jojoba and argan oil in it that felt nourishing on my chronically dry lips. This is supposed to adjust colors based on your body's pH levels and turn a custom pink color, but I didn't really notice a change in color on my lips. To me, this is a nourishing lip oil that lasted for a few hours, and I enjoyed it for what it was.

W&E Dry Body Brush - Listed Value $52

I couldn't find this exact dry brush available for sale online, but I will say there were plenty available online for a much lower cost than the listed value of the one sent in this box. That being said, if you've never tried dry brushing before I definitely recommend it. It's a great way to help with exfoliation, and the long brush strokes on your skin can help with lymphatic drainage. When I use a dry brush like this I do it before stepping into the shower, and I like the way it makes my skin feel. You definitely don't need to press hard when using this- too much pressure and you'll most likely hurt yourself rather than just get the benefits.

Key Takeaways

This was a fun box from Tribe Beauty Box. While I disagree with the listed value for the dry body brush, the quality of all of the products sent this month was nice. I really appreciate that the eyeshadow palette pulls me out of my comfort zone with fun, cheerful colors and that the box even came with an eyeshadow primer to pair with the palette to maximize the color payoff. This is definitely a subscription worth checking out if you enjoy trying new things with your makeup game, and since it is a bi-monthly box you won't feel overwhelmed with too many products and not enough time to use them.
