First Impressions

This delivery was curated by Halsey!

And included was a newsletter-type info booklet with details on featured items.

The Items

Light Lock Highlight Fluid in 'Fight or Flight', 15 mL - Retail Value $32.00

IPSY chose this item for me.

I have tried a few items from Halsey's About Face line and I have liked them. The packaging is very modern and pretty and the formulas work well for me. This liquid highlighter is very pretty and provides an over-the-top glow. You can use it sparingly for something more demure or apply lots to blind your companions. I also tried mixing it with my favorite SPF and also my BB cream and found that it is great for this sort of application! Both provide a natural dewiness that gives my skin a great glow without enhancing my pores.

ATHR Beauty Moonlight Crystal Gemstone Palette - Retail Value $58.00

IPSY chose this item for me.

This palette is stunning. All of the shades inside are beautifully pigmented and buttery, and I can't help but appreciate a cooler blue/purple focused palette in what felt like a season of warm reds and oranges. I also imagine this being a dream holiday party sort of palette. In addition to being beautiful, the formulas themselves are made to help nourish your skin and the whole thing is free of animal products, talc, fragrance, parabens, and nanoparticles. Oh, and it is also sapphire infused, which makes me love it even more! I feel like each shade has something interesting about it, particularly Sapphire, which is a smoke grey with an electric teal shimmer!

Herbivore Emerald Hemp Seed Deep Moisture Glow Oil, 30 mL – Retail Value $48.00

IPSY chose this item for me.

I fell in love with this oil instantly. Even before you open it, it is easy to appreciate the beautiful packaging and rich color. Inside is a blend of nourishing oils and extracts geared at fighting redness and adding moisture to the skin. If you have dry and dull skin like I do, this is a dream! The squalane, borage, and meadowfoam seed oils add an instant supple finish to your face without feeling overly greasy. The hemp seed oil calms inflammation. And the ashwagandha and shiitake extracts help fight the damage of environmental stressors like pollutants. It has such a great scent and texture that I see myself absolutely getting to the bottom of this bottle before the end of the year.

Kimchi Chic Beauty Thailor Blush in '01-Pinky' – Retail Value $15.00

This was my choice item!

An adorable blush in a kawaii heart-shaped compact? This was an easy choice for me! I am a blush addict and even though I have been using mostly cream formulas as of late, I couldn't resist this one. I love that the two shades can be used independently or together with a large fluffy brush for a pink ombre look on my cheeks. The payoff here is subtle, but I prefer that in a blush so I am quite pleased.

Love.

FENTY BEAUTY by Rihanna Full Frontal Volume, Lift & Curl Mascara, 12.5 mL – Retail Value $24.00

IPSY chose this item for me.

I have already used an entire tube of this mascara so I am well ready for tube number 2. This mascara gives a little more volume and drama than I always want (sometimes I just want tint and length) but with the holidays coming up, I will take a more dramatic lash any day of the week. In my experience, this one isn't on the clumpy side and also lasts for hours on my lashes without smudging or flaking.

BREAD BEAUTY SUPPLY 100% Macadamia-Oil Concentrate, 46 mL – Retail Value $28.00

This was my choice item!

This was a brand I couldn't wait to get my hands on. As someone who adores oils on my face and hair, this 100% macadamia formula was calling my name. And peep that adorable packaging! This formula doesn't have a scent and is a heavier medium oil. I have thicker, coarse hair and loved this formula on it. It added a little shine and softness and made me look overall just a little more polished. I feel like if you have fine or thin hair though, this might be a miss because it will likely feel heavy. All is not lost though, because this is still a really wonderful oil for your legs and arms, and anywhere else on your body that might be feeling dry.

Glamnetic x IPSY Reusable Press-On Nails in LILAC SKY

This was my choice item!

I couldn't resist these nails. My own nails are pretty sad-looking. They are short and flimsy, and just not great. I used to get an acrylic overlay like clockwork but since I spend a lot of my time covered in cleansers and oils, I stopped that about a year ago and just have natural nails. That doesn't mean I don't want something more dramatic every once in a while though! These are press-ons that arrived with an orangewood stick, mini file, glue, and an alcohol pad. It is super easy to size them to your nails and glue them on for instant nail magic. I especially love the nude + lilac combo because it is more subtle but still feels special.

Dream nails, honestly.

The Nue Co Barrier Culture Cleanser, 3.3 fl oz – Estimated Value $34.65 (buy 4 fl oz for $42.00)

IPSY chose this item for me.

This cleanser felt a little basic at first, but after a week of using it, I am hooked. It somehow strikes that perfect balance of cleansing yet conditioning and leaves me feeling super fresh and never tight or dry. It is specifically designed to protect the pH of your skin and keep your moisture barrier intact and it achieves this by using a soap-free formula filled with prebiotics that strengthens the natural biome of your skin. It was kind of like a gooey gel and didn't have a noticeable scent. It is a great choice for all skin types but especially sensitive and dry!

Verdict

This IPSY Glam Bag X has a total value of at least $239.65 without the value of the nails which I couldn't verify elsewhere online. That is a nice value for the $55 cost of the box. I also really loved this assortment of brands and the products felt so fun and adventurous. The ATHR Beauty palette was especially stunning and I am literally obsessed with the Herbivore oil. The About Face highlighter is a great formula and The Kimchi blush is easy to wear and adorable. I also enjoyed the BREAD oil and the nails were a dream, even if only for the few days I enjoyed them. This is maybe my favorite IPSY X delivery yet!

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

Why no bag to go with this box? I use all the bags and was bummed to not get a bag

This was the first GB X box that I wish I would have ordered. That palette and blush look so nice!

The press-ons really are a good shape for your nail beds. They look great on you!

I also chose the Bread oil & the Kim Chi Chic blush.

The ATHR palette is my first product from that company, so I was very eager to try it. It was about as I expected, with some really nice shades & some patchy duds. I’m in love with the shade Full Moon — the pewter with the golden shimmer flip.

I would not recommend mixing things like highlighter, foundation, or moisturizer with your SPF. It is likely to reduce the efficacy of the SPF.

First things first, Andy, if you are still the photographer, your pictures are fantastic! I really appreciate the layouts that you do; that really takes some talent.

Anyway, this was a really good box. I would definitely be excited if I were getting this in the mail ☺️ and that is really where the fun lies when it comes to subscriptions.

Megan, I am loving your nails. Good call!
