Allure Beauty Box is a $23 monthly beauty subscription from Allure Magazine. Each month they send out a mix of deluxe and full-size samples from mostly high-end brands. (It was named one of the best beauty subscription boxes by MSA readers in the 2021 Subscription Box Awards.)

Occasionally, they release limited edition boxes like this Allure Best of Beauty Box. This one is filled with Allure Best of Beauty award winners and the box has a cost of $65 for non-Allure Beauty Box subscribers while members pay only $40.

This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

First Impressions

I am thrilled to see all items are indeed full size! They all arrived in the familiar white and red Allure box.

Included was an info card with a note from Allure's Beauty Director.

Now, on to the items!

Youth to the People Superfood Air-Whip Moisture Cream, 2 fl oz - Retail Value $48.00

I feel like Allure frequently sends red lip colors which might not be super exciting to some, but as a lover of reds, I am always on the hunt for my new favorite. And I have never tried this formula from YSL and it makes me feel very fancy to be using such a designer lipstick. The formula here is amazing. I am happy to report that even though it leans matte, it is one of those formulas that never dried completely or flakes. It isn't transfer-proof but I will gladly take that swap for such a comfortable lippie. It is also a buildable formula so you can layer it on thick for drama or blot it down for more of a stained look. Rouge Rebel is a warm and very fall-appropriate sort of red that should flatter loads of people. I see myself wearing this until the tube is empty!

Benefit Gimme Brow + Tinted Volumizing Eyebrow Gel in 'Shade 3', 3 g - Retail Value $24.00

This is already my go-to absolute favorite brow product. The tinted gel+spoolie application is mistake-proof and so insanely easy. This is also my preferred shade. There is something about getting a product you would normally buy anyways as a box item that always feels extra satisfying so I am very pleased with this addition. Saves me $24 at Sephora next week!

Biossance Squalane + Marine Algae Eye Cream, 0.5 oz - Retail Value $54.00

Biossance is another brand I really like and it always feels great to see it in a box as a full-size addition. Allure really nailed the brands in this box, IMO! I feel like eye creams are a little polarizing. People either love them or think they do nothing. While they will never be the most important part of my skincare routine, I do think having an extra moisturizing and nourishing eye product really helps, especially if you are 30+ and want to keep that sensitive eye skin as youthful as possible. This little pot is easy to love because it contains a really wonderful cream filled with ingredients that are ideal for your eye area like moisturizing squalane, antioxidant-rich Astaxanthin (from microalgae), panthenol, and peptides. No real scent here and the texture is thicker but still light. A little goes a long way so this pot will be around for quite some time!

Lancôme Définicils High Definition Mascara, 6.2 mL - Retail Value $28.00

Full disclosure about my mascara habits: I am someone who prefers length and definition over volume any day. In fact, I don't really like lots of volume because my daily look is pretty low-key and my lashes cross over each other in weird places and too much bulk just annoys me and my contacts. That being said, a mascara formula geared towards just definition feels a little like a unicorn in the sub-box space where volume mascaras have always felt like more of a priority. I can see this formula not being everyone's favorite but I am kind of here for it. I have longer lashes but they are stick straight and this formula defines them and adds enough curl to really make them seem dramatic. All of this without being heavy or clumpy.

Here is a half and half shot of the mascara, lipstick, and brow gel vs no makeup.

Skinfix Eczema Hand Repair Cream, 3 oz - Retail Value $18.00

The final item inside this limited edition box is a tube of hand cream. While this tube specifically mentions eczema on the front, I want to promise that this is still for you even if you don't have that particular skin condition. With chapped hands arriving with colder fall/winter winds and loads of handwashing and hand sanitizer, hands can get really dry and chapped really fast. I do actually suffer from psoriasis (mostly on my legs and in my eyebrows, hairline) and this stuff is beyond amazing. I wish I had discovered it sooner. Add to that an ingredient list that doesn't really have any red flags and I can see myself using this on my face if needed during the worst of winter.

Verdict

This Allure box has a total value of $210 which is excellent for a box at $65 and even more incredible for $40. I thought every single item was a great addition and I can absolutely see why they were Allure Best of Beauty winners. There was also a nice assortment of item types inside so this box is sure to please both makeup and skincare lovers!

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

I wasn’t aware of the “special” boxes that Allure offers until I dug into the site to search out this one. However, I found 2 boxes that fit my needs(wants?) better and an individual item too.

Great review, Megan! You are absolutely right, this box is amazing. If I wasn’t swimming in products already I definitely would have snatched this one up. BTW, Allure has a Wander Beauty bundle available as well; the vitamin C serum (which I loved), mascara (love as well), and a highlighter for $20.

Do you have a link for the Wander Beauty box or know how to find it? Thanks so much
