Tribe Beauty Box June 2021 Review

Here is the info sheet for the box.

Luxie Beauty Luxury Glimmer Brush Set - Retail Value $80.00

I love receiving makeup brushes in subscription boxes and I especially love when it’s a Luxie brush set- their brushes haven’t failed me yet! This set was inspired by rose quartz and has shimmery pink brush handles to match, and the synthetic bristles form tapered heads for more precise application. This brush set is something I will get a lot of use out of (and I consider Luxie to be good quality- after receiving their brushes over the years through subscription boxes, the brushes hold up well!), and I love that we received this set at such a discount through this subscription box.

Spoiled Lips Cosmetic Day Trip Palette - Retail Value $24.00

This palette features seven matte shades and two shimmers in a range of oranges and yellows. I’ll be honest- I wasn’t too excited about this palette until I got a black dress with sunflowers on it from Amazon- then I had the perfect excuse to wear use this palette, and I was excited. One of the things I like about this palette is that it comes with a white shade. While I’m not the type to use white eyeshadow on its own, I used it as a base underneath the more vivid orange color and I really think that helped it pop. The mattes had pretty good pigment, and the shimmers were pretty on their own but also really pretty worn as a topper over the other shades.

Here are the swatches

Estée Lauder Modern Muse Rollerball, 0.2 oz - Estimated Value $11.40 (Buy the 1.7 oz version for $95.00)

Note: Subscribers could have received this perfume or Rutz Naturals Potent C Serum.

While I’m a skincare gal through and through, I’ve really been on a fragrance kick lately so I’m happy this is what was sent in my box. The fragrance notes are a mix of floral and woodsy scents- think honeysuckle, amber wood, jasmin, patchouli, and mandarin, and I really enjoy it- it’s a great “wear to work” fragrance for me. When I applied it to the pulse points on my wrists in the morning, I could smell it throughout the day without it being overpowering. I’m a fan!

Ofra Universal Eyebrow Pencil, .04 oz - Retail Value $13.00

I am not a big fan of “universal” makeup shades, but I do what I can with what I have. This actually blended in pretty well on my brows, so if you have brows that are blonder I worry this would be too dark. The pencil itself is slightly creamy so it applies easily, but it didn’t smudge on my face.

The Karma Box Co. Birthday Cake Lip Scrub, 0.35 oz - Retail Value $20.00

I love lip scrubs. Sure, I could DIY one myself with some oils and sugars, but I’m a busy woman and I like little pots of joy like this neon pink gem from The Karma Box Co. The birthday cake flavor is sweet without tasting too artificial, and it helped to soften my lips before I went in with a lip balm on top.

Here is the look I did using the eyeshadow palette and Ofra eyebrow pencil! I also made a TikTok of me getting ready with these items!

The Verdict: This month's box from Tribe Beauty Box was lovely! The highlights for me were the perfume and Luxie brush set, but all of the items worked cohesively together. I appreciate that this box pulled me out of my comfort zone with the orange eye shadow palette, and I ended up loving the finished look. Value-wise, everything adds up to $148.40- that's more than three times the cost of the box!

I am a staunch believer that pineapple doesn’t belong on pizza and when I’m not working as a family law attorney I enjoy hiking the Louisiana trails (alligator sightings are a favorite!) or relaxing with Duchess, my cat. I’m a sucker for anything labeled a mystery box and I’ve never met a bath bomb I didn’t like.

I wish more subs included fragrances. I’ve always been into fragrances and trying new ones, but for the past few months I started to let myself *really* get into them… mostly through samples & decants. I just finished using up a large (really long) vial sample of Modern Muse. It was a dabber so it lasted quite a while. I liked it, but not enough to purchase a full size bottle since, while it didn’t smell bad at all, it smelled a bit “typical” to me and there was nothing unique about it. .. but having said that I wouldn’t mind getting a rollerball of it in a sub box!

That palette looks surprisingly great – dig those two pink shades and that bright orange. Overall, I think this is a really nice curation. The perfume sounds really nice, and I’m always happy to get Luxie brushes in subs.

I thought Tribe beauty box was cruelty free. Apparently not with the inclusion of Estée Lauder. I bought a mystery box from them during the last holiday season but won’t purchase from them again knowing they include brands that do animal testing in their boxes.
