Goddess Provisions "Earth Magic" May 2021 Review

The box comes with a short but informative booklet that outlines all of the items inside and discloses the theme. This month's theme is "Earth Magic".

Access Our Eyes Indigo Altar Cloth– Listed Value $25.00

Welcome to May! Outside is opening back up again and we are reconnecting with Mama Earth. Our first item in this month's box is an altar cloth to decorate your sacred space. The design is magical and mystical, and the cloth is handmade in Bali. The print is crystal-infused Selenite ink which I thought was really cool! My only wish is for this in a bigger size so I can hang it on my wall. This item includes a 33% off discount for Access Our Eyes.

Fabric Plant Pot Holder– Retail Value $22.00

How cute is this fabric pot holder?! I love the color and print of plants and crystals. Perfect combination! I've never used a fabric plant holder before, and sadly none of my plants were the correct size for this item. I can't wait to find a perfectly sized plant for this holder soon though 🙂

Unakite– Listed Value $4.00

Unakrite is a stone used for balance. I plan to put this stone to use for: balancing my chakras, grounding myself, and connecting to my divine feminine energy.

Gemstone Organic Earth Magic Roll-On, 10 ml – Retail Value $20.00

This roll-on is delivering the perfect aromatherapy! I literally could feel the stress leave my body after inhaling this off of my wrist for a few seconds. This roll-on contains a flowery blend of lemon, blood orange, and lavender essential oils. It also is moss agate and crystal-infused, which added another magical element to me! A 20% off coupon at Gemstone Organic was included.

Insight Editions Gratitude Candle, 3 oz – Listed Value $15.00

What a cute candle! This is scented with gardenia flower essential oil and contains a rose quartz stone. Rose quartz is known to purify and open the heart, while also helping to foster positive relationships. I lit this candle after a rather long zoom call to reset and recenter, and it helped a lot.

LastObject LastSwab – Retail Value $12.00

This item is very interesting. LastSwab is the self-proclaimed first reusable cotton swab. Ethically it seems like a great product! I personally couldn't get past having to wash my ear wax off the swab and reuse it though. The swab head was also, of course, not as soft as a cotton swab.

Goddess Provisions Cosmic Flora Socks  – Retail Value $11.00

Our last item in this month's box are these quirky floral mesh socks. I don't generally pay much attention to my socks. I'm lucky if I leave the house with my socks matching. That being said, these are now the fanciest pair of socks I own. The socks run small, so they were a little tight on my feet.

I really have no idea where I'd wear these socks. You can never have too many socks though!

*Digital Bonus* Earth Rituals

Our digital bonus this month is a downloadable ebook helping you to connect with the wisdom of the earth. Sadly, nothing downloaded after entering my information. I'm not sure if the page was just down, but I may try again another day. A 25% off coupon for Gaias Wisdom Essences was included.

Verdict: This month's theme was all about tapping into that earth magic, and I feel all products were very on par with that. The fabric plant holder is adorable and will definitely be put to good use. The lastswab just wasn't my cup of tea, but still gets a thumbs up from me for helping to make us a little less wasteful. I estimate that I received a retail value of $109 in items. This is not including the digital bonus.

So a product made from renewable resources and breaks down relatively quickly (cotton swabs) is replaced by something that will be around for a thousand years and somehow that’s better for the environment? Hmmmm.

Those sucks are giving me hibby jibbies for some reason. Yikes, can’t even imagine who would wear those, how impractical.

You should never use cotton swabs in your ears yet it seems it’s still not widely known. There is a warning on all the packaging: “Do not insert swab into the ear canal.”

Why? “Q-tips can push wax further into the ear canal, which can cause impaction, discomfort, or a rupture in the ear drum. If the wax gets pushed too far into the ear canal, it could require surgical intervention. If left untreated, long-term complications can even lead to infections or hearing loss.”

Be careful out there!

Please differentiate between “ear” and “ear canal.” The warning is about the ear *canal,* yet you wrote “ears” in your first sentence. You can Google a description of the anatomy of the ear.

I really love this month and subbing for about a year and honestly have loved every single item in every box! I love the socks they are stylin’ and funky which is my quirky style . U can always put the plant holder over a ugly pot that’s what I did

This is only my second GP box, but I read reviews for like 3 years of GP boxes before subscribing, and May’s box was a disappointment to me (after the great April box).

Liked the crystal and candle. Liked the altar cloth, though I wish they would disclose what it’s made of. The roller ball is fine, though I don’t like to get these frequently, as they take forever to finish.

The plant cover is cute but – what’s the point? If a plant is in a pot, putting a cloth cover over it just seems like useless clutter. And fabric + soil seems like a bad combination. I’d rather they had put fewer items in the box, and given us a nice ceramic plant pot.

The mesh socks – maybe I’m out of the trend loop, but what on earth are the point of mesh socks??? Plus, these were so small I could barely get them over my feet.

The Last Swab was the most pointless item of all – I mainly use cotton swabs to clean up make up around my eyes, and this works really poorly for that. The hard swab is too rough on the sensitive skin around the eyes, and it barely got the make up off anyway. I had the swab sitting on my bathroom counter, and my toddler for some reason got a big kick out of playing with it for 15 minutes, then she easily snapped it in half. Oh well, no big loss to me.

LastSwab has a beauty version of the product that might work better for you. I’ve never used either but previously looked into them.

I have a lot of mixed feelings about this sub. I have gotten a few boxes here and there but I could never see me subbing every month because some of the items seem like serious clutter (the cloth plant pot) or weird (mesh socks, yuck!) The best boxes were ones that I felt included a book on a subject matter pertaining to the theme, candles, self-care items, unique snacks, crystals and spiritual tools. Tamed Wild has a subscription box that seems more in line with what I am looking for, but sometimes Goddess Provisions surprises me. I also noticed they have more GP labeled items now than in the past, where I think before they sourced their items more from small/independent shops. I know a lot of thought and creativity goes into each box every single month so I hate to be negative, but mesh socks or a flimsy moon phase hanging that easily falls apart is not very appealing and lowers the overall quality of the box. I still love reading spoilers and reviews for GP so hoping things will improve.

I think this is probably one of the worse months I’ve ever seen 😒

The best item would be the cotton swab on my part. It’s a great emergency when you run out of normal swabs and wished you had one.

I love the plant holder and the socks! The candle and stone are beautiful too. I’ve seen that reusable swab and think it’s interesting. Cindy, I agree that I’d use it for makeup, but maybe not my ears.

I agree, the plant holder is cute. Still trying to figure out how I feel about the socks haha! They are quirky for sure, but I love the colors.

Looks like an improvement over recent boxes. I absolutely love the plant holder and the socks are adorable. I wouldn’t dream of using that swab in my ears but it looks great for removing eye makeup.

Using the swab for eye makeup is a really great idea! I’d prefer not to use it in my ears.
