I don’t think MSA is bad for trying to monetize but I do think it is inefficient now. Hello subscription seems to come out with more news. However, checking my emails is typically good enough. I can just scroll through that to see basic spoilers and launches.
some news though:
Dermstore has released its sunscreen kit which is currently priced at $50. On the day i got an email it was at $40. I waited for msa to post about it but they haven’t and it has been 3 days. Now the dermstore kit is $50 and if I hadn’t known about the savings for the first day, I would not have bought it. Cash back brough it to like $36 which is nice. But the cool deal i snagged is already over 😬 sorry. But its still up i guess if youre interested

Buyer beware- even if you make your selection, you’re not guaranteed to get it. I wound up canceling my lifestyle monthly and quarterly boxes due to disappointment at rarely getting my choices due to either supply issues or just bad customer service. You may be better off just buying the items you like directly from their manufacturers.

Thanks RH! I knew of shipping issues and dollar store mystery boxes but I’m not about to spend $$ and not get my choice.

MSA please get your act together your mistakes have been frequent, wish Liz still had this site.

I agree. I loved Marne’s reviews. She was a favorite. I absolutely miss the old MSA and the old reviewers. The new people have dropped the ball so much lately and they are tanking this site .

The site was being tanked before that. It started going downhill a few years ago when they took the discussion group site based on untrue statements. And then again when they started neglecting the swap part of the site. It was never clearly understood how valuable the swap part of the site was to ensure that people kept buying subscription boxes. The moment we get stuck with a lot of products we can’t use or don’t want is the point we rethink our sub habits. I use to sub to 10-12 boxes when I could swap away things I didn’t want. I would still be subbing to many more boxes if the swap site was in full swing and I could unload unwanted things for wanted things. Make no mistake as much as Liz was loved she was in it to make money. It looks to me she got tired of it or could see that sub boxes were in the decline. Regarding subscription boxes decline sadly it’s due to unethical practices, slow shipping, poor customer service, and just general fatigue of receiving the same type items. I would love to see the new owners working to turn it around and make the swap site a go again.

This just shows what happens when a privately owned business goes public essentially. You would think the differences wouldn’t be so glaring, but here we are. I actually distinctly remember a review Megan did awhile ago when I think she was told about the huge change. MSA had such an awesome thing going with their fun reviews and articles and then that all abruptly changed because?????? MONEY.

It’s just sad that an awesome thing was changed so drastically all because of dollar signs. This is in no way directed at the reviewers because they are incredible! This site could redeem itself if the content is relevant, ACCURATE and up to date. In addition, I feel like MSA is missing a lot of spoilers and reviews. Seeing as a lot of these subs will send their boxes for free, it seems like a no brainer to have people review them (more subscription reviews make the site more pertinent to it’s mission.)

Definitely wishing the best for this site, but even this morning there was nothing really new to read and I’m one of those who needs some light reading with my morning tea ☺️

I didn’t realize this, but in hindsight I haven’t seen Liz’s name in a long while. When was it sold?

Caligirl

It has been a year or two.

I was just thinking about Liz the other day. I miss her (and Marnie and Anna) SO much! This site is definitely not the same.

Victoria

Ugh, I miss Marne so much! This site has really gone downhill since L left.

Snow

I definitely miss Marni and Anna as well 🙁

Sue

Liz had to sell it and it’s corporate owned now unfortunately.

Sue

Why else would you have to sell lol she needed the money. Yes there was a reason why but since she didn’t make it public I won’t say it.

JoJoB

Sue please forgive me if this comes off snarky as I promise it’s not meant to but what do you mean Liz “had” to sell it? Was there some personal issue in her life we are not privy to? Because I’m not aware of anyone ever being forced to sell something they didn’t want to. Phrasing it like this makes it sound as if she was held hostage and forced to hand over her company rather than what really happened which was she CHOSE to sell it for MONEY. Unless there was some issue such as serious illness or the like where she physically could not operate it any longer and made the painful decision to sell it, I think the blame for this site going downhill is being focused in the wrong direction. All the Liz love seems misdirected to me since she’s the one who abandoned ship for money. Of course the new owners aren’t the same, it’s not a labor of love for them the way it was for her. But in the end she’s the same as them if she left & sold the site for money and for no other reason.

Stephanie

I’m not a B&C subscriber but omfg I need that lunch satchel & bamboo utensil set in waves stat! I’ll probably buy both on their website but might wait and see the other spoilers for this box and then buy the utensil set on the company’s website and get the satchel from B&C. I can’t add on, can I?

Now the big question is, what box is this? The quarterly or monthly and what date do I make my selection by?

I see the bag and utensil set on a m a z o n dot com.

Stephanie, thanks for the note about the snack bags! I love the wave pattern but didn’t need either one of the spoiled items, but those little snack bags were too cute to pass up! I ended up finding several other items on the site and placed an order. Nice to purchase directly from them, and not through Amazon. Amazon is awesome, so convenient/quick ship/all that, but I’m trying to be more supportive of missions and small businesses. I ordered enough to get free shipping and searched for a coupon code so I’m really happy with my purchase!

Stephanie

Thanks Sharon! I saw this on Amazon but will buy it on the company’s site, Full Circle Hone. They also have sandwich and snack bags. 😊

I don’t receive this box, though it’s on the short list for consideration and has been for awhile. I was about to go ahead and sub it based on these spoilers, but I read the comments first and thank goodness. So these spoilers aren’t even for the box they’re said to be for? This is confusing and I’m not sure why MSA made this mistake…seems like something that would have been avoided via double-checking the info before posting?

Bravo msa. Can’t even post correct information anymore.

This is the first spoiler for the monthly lifestyle box, not the 2nd spoiler for the seasonal box. Hopefully it gets updated quickly so people don’t get confused.

Magi

What? This is for the monthly box. I’m confused.

Isn’t this a spoiler for the May Lifestyle “Explore” box?

Sherri

It is.

Agreed – I got this spoiler in an email for the May Lifestyle Box. I am a Quarterly Lifestyle Box subscriber and didn’t receive an email to make a selection for this, so I think it’s mislabeled.

I hope you are right, because there is nothing here i even want…
