Laurel & Reed February 2021 Review

As always, the packaging and presentation are beautiful!

The first card is just a general L&R info card while the second has specific info about the items and brands included inside.

Ayelet Naturals Opulence Super Fruits Defense Cream, 1.7 fl oz - Retail Value $65.00

This cute pink cream arrived in a frosted glass pot with a bamboo cap. It has a scent that reminds me of geranium and roses, and is quite nice! The formula feels really nice on my skin, but does have a few ingredients you might want to be mindful of if you tend to break out. Most notable is Evening Primrose oil, an ingredient I happen to love for my dry skin. I do think the inclusion of others like salicylic acid can help exfoliate and decongest, but I still thought it was worth mentioning. Loads of goodies in here otherwise, like aloe, shea, meadowfoam seed oil, hyaluronic acid, willow bark, and more come together to create a cream that I really enjoyed using as a day option. I found that it absorbed in a snap and left a very soft finish that would be really lovely under makeup if I had worn any so far this week.

Naturallogic Flourish Gentle Fruit Enzyme Lotion Cleanser, 4 oz - Retail Value $48.00

This cleanser is another very pretty shade of pink that compliments the cream above. I am guessing this wasn't on purpose but the two feel like they belong together. If I was only limited to one word to describe this creamy cleanser, it would be "silky". Luckily I am allowed a few more words!

My favorite aspect of this cleanser is the fruit enzymes. The ones inside come from apples and pineapple, and these enzymes and fruit AHAs work together to lift off dead skin from your face without any sort of scrubbiness. Because there is none of that physical friction, it's a nice choice for skin that is a little more reactive. It also has lots of soothing elements like aloe, chamomile, and cucumber. Heck, it even has a little pink clay on the end for gentle decongestion! All in all, I was a big fan of this one.

100% PURE Coffee Bean Caffeine Eye Cream, 1 oz - Retail Value $29.00

My final item was an old, familiar favorite. I like this cream because it is one of those that gives an instant undereye boost thanks to the caffeine inside. On mornings where I have dullness and puffiness a pea-sized amount of this dabbed around my entire eye area gives me an instant wakeup. I also like the scent a lot too, which is unusual for me since I am not a coffee fan. You can note a little bit of the beans in here, but there are so creamy and yummy it just works for my nose!

The Verdict: This Laurel & Reed delivery has a value of $142.00 which is good for a $49.95 box. I loved both of the adorable pink formulas. The cleanser especially stands out as a big winner. It's not really a shocker. I have liked the majority of Naturallogic's products that have crossed my desk. And although the eye cream wasn't new to me, it is an old fave and I am happy to have more!

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

“Use code MSA15 to save 15% off your subscription!”

This wording implies that we can get the 15% discount off of our entire subscription? For example, if I make a “longer commitment” of, say, one year, I’ll get 15% off that full amount? Or does this discount apply to the first box only?

…inquiring minds want to know, lol. I’ve been eyeing this sub for awhile but it’s not the cheapest, and while I’ve come to the realization that quality over quantity is my goal for sub boxes, I still would like to be sure of how much I’m spending. Thanks!

P.S…please quit making me want to spend more money! (The Art Snacks gets me every month, and I’ve been “warned” that we have exactly zero room in our tiny 600-square-foot house to devote to any more art supplies than I already have…which makes me wonder, is there a She Shed sub? 😉 )

I actually think the curator of Laurel & Reed did match the moisturizer and cleanser on purpose. The light pink of those products also looks nice with the coffee bean eye cream packaging.

I’ve noticed every month that the packaging of the products seem to have some sort of color cohesion to them (or I could just be crazy lol.)

Ragan

AHAs are not enzymes, although pineapple definitely also contains enzymes that exfoliate (like bromelain), and apple and pineapple may additionally have AHAs.

Hi Ragan, sorry that sentence was unclear. I have edited it to be more accurate.

This formula has both enzymes and AHAs, both of which come from the apple and pineapple juices. Here is the description from the brand:

APPLE JUICE – Rich in Malic Acid, a naturally occurring AHA, that gently exfoliates surface cells + promotes fresh cell regeneration while toning, tightening, reducing the appearance of pores, pH balancing + refreshing skin.

PINEAPPLE JUICE – Highly prized for it’s Bromelain content that breaks down + dissolves dead skin cells, unclogs pores and helps to reduce surface inflammation. Also high in antioxidant Vitamin C, leaving skin soft, smooth + protected against environmental aggression.
