March 2021 No Make No Life "Sakura Beauty Spa" Review

Before we get started, it's worth noting this is the third box I've received since March. Japan faced shipping backlogs, suspended shipping to a growing list of countries, returned shipments, and other complications due to COVID-19. More from nmnl:

NOTICE FOR USA BASED CUSTOMERS: Unfortunately, due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, on April 23rd Japan Post announced that flights to and from the USA have been reduced by 90% which resulted in delayed shipment of up to 4 months for Air Mail, with no guarantee of shipment. As such, we have made the decision to use Surface Mail, as it continues to operate during the COVID-19 crisis with a better guarantee of shipment at an estimated delivery time of 60-90 days.

Because of continued challenges, it looks like nmnl is moving away from Surface Mail in favor of other options. You can get all the details here.

The booklet gives you detailed information on each item, as well as instructions on how to use certain products. This month's theme is 'Sakura Beauty Spa.'

HolikaHolika Pure Essence Rose Face Mask - Retail Value $2.20

The booklet notes that the brand HolikaHolika "strives to unlock the hidden beauty with magical cosmetics. This mask is infused with rose-essence to help lock-in moisture. I love when a mask focuses on adding moisture, but I wasn't able to leave this mask on for very long because it had a super-strong floral scent to it. It was pretty overwhelming for me on top of my allergies that have been going crazy now that spring is on its way. I was able to leave this on for about 5 minutes before removing it, but even for such a short time this did add extra moisture and shine to my skin.

Spring Colors Eye Shadow Palette - Retail Value $9.31

You could have received this palette in either sweet, night out, or disco. I was surprised to see the price of this palette. While that is not expensive for a palette of this size, the quality is just not there for me. I had a ton of fallout with each shadow and the colors aren't very buildable with very light coverage. The colors are fun for spring, but they just weren't applying well enough to make me excited about the colors. I have gotten some amazing palettes from this box, but this one fell pretty flat for me, unfortunately.

Sakura Scented Vaseline - Retail Value $7.89

This vaseline is infused with cherry leaf extract to moisturize and has a sakura scent. It is a bit florally but nothing that is too overpowering. You can use this on your body, hands, or lips to add deep moisture. This does leave my hands feeling a bit greasy and it takes a few minutes to drink into my skin, but otherwise, I really like this vaseline! It has helped my dry skin on my hands and is great to use on your lips. Since this is a bit on the greasy side, I have found that using this as a spot treatment for dry patches to work the best.

Peach C Powder Blush Blossom Edition - Retail Value $15.95 (currently out of stock)

This blush brand was founded by Korean model and YouTuber, Haneul. So fun! You could have received this super-fine powder blush in either cherry blossom pink, pinky pink, or mandarin orange. I prefer pinks for my blushes so I was a little bummed to receive the orange. It does look good though and blended nicely, I just think I might be a bit too far for the orange tone right now but maybe I can revisit this blush again in the summer.

Heart Makeup Brush Holder - Retail Value $7.41

This brush holder can stick to your mirror to keep your brushes handy. It is also a great way to store them while they are drying after washing. My daughter is really into playing with makeup and even has her own vanity and brush set that Santa brought her. Since this holder didn't really match my bathroom very well, I decided to give this to her. It sits proudly on her vanity mirror holding her little brushes. It makes me so happy to give her little things like this that make her very excited when she plays!

Sakura Parade Bath Set - Retail Value $8.84

This is a full bath set that can be used together or each on its own. The first item is a Sakura scented milky bath salt that is made of Epsom salts and essential oils. The blend works to increase circulation and to hydrate your skin. The second item is a Sakura bath tablet, which is basically a bath bomb that tends to dissolve a bit fast. It has a strong cherry blossom scent and did a great job at leaving my skin feeling exfoliated and silky smooth. The last item is a Sakura bath pop, this helps to add more fragrance to your bath. This blend is meant to help relax your body and mind which can be great to use before bed to help you calm for sleep. I decided to use each of these on their own with the bath pop added to the bath salts, and they all worked so well. I felt relaxed and hydrated, and really who doesn't love a good bath with amazing salts and bath bombs?!

Blooming Hello Kitty Lipstick - Retail Value $9.78 (currently out of stock)

Who doesn't love a red lip? I really loved how buildable this lipstick was. You can go pretty dark as I did, or you can apply it lightly with your fingertip for a lighter look. You could have received this in either red, pink, pearl classic rose, pink shiny blue, pink shiny gold, coral shiny red. It is creamy and hydrating which made it glide on like a dream.

Fluffy Kitty Ears Spa Headband - Retail Value $8.84 (currently out of stock)

Here we have a super soft and fluffy spa headband! It is so fluffy and cute and fits perfectly. It does a great job at keeping your hair back as well while still looking adorable. You could have received this in purple or grey. My daughter was instantly obsessed with this and thinks it's a headband to wear every day. She rocks it and it surprisingly fits her really well!

Verdict: March's No Make No Life Box was a great mix of Sakura beauty products to make a spa right in your home. I was really excited to see a full bath set that allowed me to use it separately so I got two baths out of the set! The mask was a bit too strong of a scent for me, but it did give my skin a quick boost of hydration. While I wasn't blown away by the palette and blush, I loved the creamy red lipstick. My daughter got to enjoy some of the products this month as well which is always fun for us! At $35 + $10.95 for DHL shipping, I received 8 beauty items with a retail value of around $70.22. This box is always filled with fun and unique surprises, giving me a chance to try products that I wouldn't normally.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, you'll receive the April box.

Value Breakdown: At $35.00 + $10.95 shipping ($45.95) for this box with a retail value of $70.22, you are approximately paying $5.74 for each of the 8 items.

I’ve recently discovered the app YesStyle which I’m obsessed with browsing. It’s embarrassing how much time I can spend scrolling through this app. There are other categories besides beauty but I spend most of my time looking at the Korean makeup and skincare. I recognized some of the brands in your box from that website.
This was my first time seeing this subscription box so was happy to hear that this palette is not the quality of eyeshadow palettes you are used to from them.
Oh! I also wanted to ask, when you said this was your third box from them this month, did you mean the third of that same box or they are so far behind that you got three months worth of boxes just this month? Just curious, no big deal.
Before I put a lid on it I just have to point out the obvious and that is that your daughter is totally precious!! That picture with the headband is so darling! She is absolutely right, that headband is for everyday wear! And you were right, she totally rocks it! 🥰🥰

I like the types of items they send and the packaging. I wish they could make all these fun beauty products more quality especially for such an expensive box!

I agree! This was the first palette that I truly was disappointed in. Hopefully the quality will improve especially with the box price.
