meowbox February 2021 Review

meowbox has a lot of exclusive toys that are usually pretty popular with my cats. From my perspective, it’s nice to see some things that don’t turn up in other cat subscription boxes:

The information card typically just gives a URL for finding out more information about the items in the box. The illustration is adorable, as usual. This month had a Valentine's Day theme.

On to the items:

Lovebug Wand Cat Toy – Retail Value $9.50

Meowbox contains a wand toy most months. Sneaky is all about wands and she enjoyed this one as well. My husband said it was strange to put ladybugs on a cat toy as all my cats are uninterested in ladybugs and I had to remind him of this video which, granted, was made a long time ago. (Bonus brief Mr. Kitty footage.)

Meowlentine’s Cookie 2-Pack Cat Toy – Retail Value $6

These are some catnip plushes. They are a good size for my crew, being in the small-to-medium size-range, plus they have a good surface for hooking claws into. You’ll usually get a catnip plush or two in your meowbox.

Love Me Daisy Cat Toy – Retail Value $5

This is a flatter toy with a couple of dangly petals held on by cords. The petals are securely attached and I feel safe leaving this with my cats even if I am not in the room, but of course, your cat(s) may be different so you will have to use your best judgment. (My cats generally do not destroy meowbox toys, but they're also a bit older at about 13, 14, and 15 years old.) I think this toy is pretty cute; most meowbox toys are designed to give humans a bit of a smile in addition to cats enjoying them.

Sealed with a Kiss Catnip Stamp Cat Toy – Retail Value $5

This is catnip-only, no stuffing. It has a felt outer portion, is handmade, and, like the other toys, custom for this box. This is from the Empurrium, a small, independent shop that often teams up with meowbox for custom items. This is smaller than the cookie toys and, having so much catnip, is particularly appealing to Madison.

Adirondack Freeze-Dried Pure Chicken Breast Cat Treats (1.1 oz) – Retail Value $4.99

These are freeze-dried chicken; I think we have received this brand in meowbox before, although in a different flavor. Sneaky ate hers and stole from Madison and Monkey so she will probably get most of the remainder, but that’s OK – freeze-dried meat is low in calories and Sneaky is on a diet right now as she’s a little heavyset and having more trouble walking than she used to.

Kitty pictures:

(Madison is black, Sneaky is calico, and Monkey is tan and white.)

Verdict: I calculated a total value of about $30.49 for February’s meowbox. This was a great month for us, with lots of different toy types and healthful, high-quality treats. As always, the items are adorable to me as well as enjoyable to the cats, so I can’t complain, especially with three teenaged kitties who aren’t always interested in toys.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? It is too late for the February box, so your subscription would likely start with the March box.

Value Breakdown: At $22.95 for the subscription plus free shipping, you are paying approximately the following per item:

  • Wand $7.15
  • Cookie toy $4.52
  • Daisy toy $3.76
  • Stamp toy $3.76
  • Treats $3.76

aww! The video was great! They were so gentle with it! It was good to see Mr. Kitty again.

Ragan, my mom recently took over care for my nephew’s kitty. Zoey loves playing, with colorful mice, etc. When I’m over we will play until I’m tired! lol. Mom isn’t up for that. Can you recommend a toy that Zoey can play with, by herself? She’s a big girl and should get more movement. (I think she’s about 3 years old) I’m kind of lost on this as I have had more dogs.

Thanks for the video! So good to see Mr. Kitty again. The flower “he loves me not” toy is so cute. My sis and I would play that game all the time with flowers in the yard. <3
