Basic Woman is a women's monthly subscription box (the sister subscription to Basic Man) bestowing your undergarment drawer with premium basics made with quality and comfort in mind. Each month holds a matching set consisting of a top, one pair of undies, and a pair of socks.

This subscription is a convenient way of gradually replacing your old pieces with sustainable and eco-friendly options.

This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

Basic Woman March 2021 Review

Olive Crop Top, Size L - Retail Value $16.00

I would never go into a store in search of a crop top, so I am thankful that this subscription is opening my mind up to the idea. It is perfect for a casual outfit paired with high-waisted jeans or just a pair of leggings. The fabric is a slinky bamboo blend that feels cool and soft on the skin. I am also loving this olive shade, such a great earthy neutral!

I could have chosen a medium for a more fitted look, but I definitely prefer my tops to fit a little looser.

Heather Grey Calf Socks - Retail Value $12.00 (On sale for $8.00)

I'm so happy to get some longer socks this month! I live in socks, and it is still so chilly out; as far as I am concerned, the longer the better! Until we get thigh highs, these will certainly do. This combed cotton and polyester blend will keep my feet cozy while wicking away moisture, all while giving off an effortless casual look.

Another perfect fit! I wear a size 7.5-8, and these have the perfect amount of stretch for a comfortable fit.

Black Bikini Bottoms, Size L - Retail Value $12.00

We are revisiting the black panty this month, and I'm all in! One can never have too many pairs of black undies. This nylon and spandex pair fit comfortably with just enough cheek coverage to avoid any wedgie mishaps. They are seamless and undetectable under my work scrubs, which is a feat in itself.

Verdict: I always love my Basic Woman shipments! Everything fits very comfortably, and I am especially loving the longer socks this month. They recently upped their monthly subscription price from $19.99 to $24.99 which is definitely a bummer, but I still think their products are worth the price. At $24.99 per month, each item in the box has an average cost of $8.33 which I think is still a good value for three sustainable items that were built to last.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Subscription renewals are typically shipped around the 10th of each month, and new subscriptions are shipped within 5-10 business days.

I’m a self-proclaimed “cool mom” who loves a little, who am I kidding, a lot of razzle-dazzle. I have been box-obsessed for over 10 years, and I am always on the hunt for new beauty, fun flair and trendy clothing boxes. A fun night for me includes an exfoliating foot mask and a bag of Dot's Pretzels while binging Rupaul’s Drag Race.

I signed up on April 12th and haven’t gotten anything. Their customer service has not been helpful.

I loveee the idea of this subscription (especially as someone who was just looking to start moving to sustainable basic staples to create a higher-quality longer-lasting wardrobe) but I’m kinda wondering…is this genuinely what they think we want?
The men’s subscription looks consistent, what you see is what you get. If you like one box, you’re probably going to like them all, and the biggest miss is going to be a color every once in a while. But the women’s box feels so all over the place with styles, plus the price difference, plus the lack of sizing…c’mon.

I’m bummed that they consider a 2x to be a size 14- a 2x at Torrid (and most other stores) is an 18-20. I’ve gained weight and would love to be able to have monthly staples shipped to me in my new larger size (I don’t love it but it’s not going to magically disappear overnight and I can’t walk around naked), but it’s bummer to be an afterthought to this company.

A size 14 is a 2x? These people are nuts

Funny, I signed up at the beginning of January and the price increase had already taken effect, for me anyways. Also, I got something totally different this month. I got a nude tank, nude panties and white and nude ankle socks. Plus mine did not ship until way later than the 10th. I just receive mine two days ago (the 26th).

And yet the men’s remains $19.99.

I was considering signing up for this one, to get new tshirts and undies. (they always look comfy) The price increase will stop me from doing it. I can get basic items, in colors I want, instead.
