January 2021 Pet Treater Dog Pack Review

This month's box is themed around healthcare workers – focusing on the real-life heroes of the past year! They are sending a big 'Thank You' to all essential workers for everything they do to keep us safe. This shipment from Pet Treater included five items: a toy, a gourmet cookie, chew treats, and a bandana.

Superhero Bandana from Pet Treater

Superheroes are a big deal in our house! When my son realized that this was supposed to look like a superhero cape/costume he was floored! Rufus does a lot of barking at trucks from our upstairs window so it was really funny to see him go crazy barking with this cape on. It felt as though we had a real doggie hero protecting us from the big bad trucks outside, haha. As always this bandana is on a super soft and thick fabric that is still breathable for Rufus.

Gourmet Canine Cookie by Woofables for Pet Treater

This little gourmet cookie is a yogurt-iced honey and oat cookie that is made with whole wheat flour, oats, canola oil, honey, and sugar. Rufus is truly obsessed with these cookies and would hardly let me take these photos. He gobbled it down quickly as always leaving no crumbs behind. I love that the healthcare theme continued in this cookie as well. They are always so well made and relevant to the theme.

Masked Hero Toy for Dogs by Bow Wow Pet

Not all superheroes wear capes! Isn't that the truth?! This past year has shown us just how essential each and every essential worker is to keeping us healthy, safe, and moving forward. This little bear is wearing a mask and cape, and so cute and on-theme. Plus, a great reminder to wear that mask! Plus, 100% of the sales of this toy will go directly to volunteer first responders. This bear has a squeaker in his belly and is great to play catch with. My daughter thinks that this is a teddy bear for her, and Rufus has been kind enough to share with her since toys aren't really his thing in his older age.

Chewy Turkey Treats by The Pound Bakery for Pet Treater

These chewy treats were super big! You could give your doggie one treat at a time or break them into pieces if it might be too much at once. These chews are made with turkey, pea flour, chickpeas, coconut, glycerine, tapioca flour, cranberries, Brewer's yeast, tapioca syrup, lactic acid, and citric acid. Rufus tends to be picky about his treats, and from what I can tell it is based on texture. Thicker treats like these that are on the chewy side he usually won't go for. He played with this one a bit, but never ended up eating it. I decided to pass the other stick along to my mom's new doggie, Pixie, when I went to let her out the other day, and she absolutely loved it!

Verdict: This month's Pet Treater box was wonderful! Everything this month paid tribute to all of the real-life superheroes out there that might not be in capes. Essential workers are our lifeline and they have proven that in an even bigger way this past year. The theme was consistent throughout the box, right down to Rufus's very own superhero bandana. He absolutely devoured this month's cookie as always, but wasn't in love with the chews. That wasn't a big deal though as I was able to share them with my mom's dog. The teddy bear dog toy is just too cute, so much so that my daughter thought it was a bear just for her! This month I received four items. I couldn’t find the exact items online, so simply by dividing them up, each item would cost about $3.75. At $15 a month with free shipping, this box is an incredible value, plus you get everything delivered right to your door! I look forward to this box every month because it really allows me time with Rufus that I don't usually get. I love seeing how excited he gets waiting for his treats, and knowing that each product is good for him which is so important to us as he gets older.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, you’ll receive a collection of pet-approved favorites as a welcome pack. After that, your pet will receive the same monthly shipment as other subscribers. Items vary from shipment to shipment, so you’re not guaranteed the same items pictured here. Standard orders generally ship around the 10th of each month. If you’ve added special requests to your order (allergies, no plush, tough toys, etc.), this may add additional processing and packing times due to the extra labor involved.
