RBL 00 Founders Box Review

This is the first RBL box and it looks like it is called both the Founders box and the Fall box in this handy booklet. This booklet reminded me a lot of a CAUSEBOX sort of mini-magazine, filled with info on each item inside, the brands behind them, and more. This booklet also let us know that part of the proceeds from this box were donated to The Loveland Foundation:

Loveland Foundation is committed to showing up for communities of color in unique and powerful ways, with a particular focus on Black women and girls. Our resources and initiatives are collaborative and they prioritize opportunity, access, validation, and healing. We are becoming the ones we’ve been waiting for.

Unbound Babes Zip Vibe - Retail Value $18.00

I think this was a great vibe to include in this box. It's a great choice for beginners but even those who might be more experienced with toys will still enjoy it because it is discreet and easy to stash in your purse or luggage or wherever else you might want to. It only has one vibration setting but it is strong! This vibe turns on with a button hidden in the cap and the silky silicone finish in a light pink makes it feel chic and pretty. It also comes with a battery, which is appreciated!

Unbound Babes O.M.G Spot - Retail Value $4.00

This little foil packet holds a liquid that is supposed to increase the size and sensitivity of the G-Spot. Because this has peppermint oil inside, I did choose to pass on reviewing this one. Peppermint and my lady bits do not agree with one another! If you choose to get adventurous with yours though, know that is it toy-safe AND condom-safe!

Illuminati Isa x Illuminati Palette - Retail Value $48.00

I actually received and reviewed this palette in my October BoxyCharm Premium review and loved it. While the shadows aren't 'knock your socks off' pigmented, they perform in a way I really like, kind of as pastels. I found that they work best with more of a fingertip or wet brush application than with a dry brush.

Here are the swatch shots taken from that previous review:

And here is a little look I created based on the rainbows in my mom's house from her window crystals.

It is a really fun and unique palette.

Reign Together CBD Massage Oil, 4 oz - Retail Value $80.00

I have sensitive legs that break out with lotion, but I have found that for some odd reason, oils don't bother them a single bit! Needless to say, I go through a lot of oil between my face and my body. This is a rather large glass bottle of CBD massage oil and I plan on it being my new out of shower favorite. Sure, maybe I should save it for actual massages, but I believe in everyday luxuries and I never actually get massages. This oil is a blend of coconut, grapeseed, jojoba, olive, castor, and other nourishing oils. It is scented faintly with sweet orange oil and absorbs quickly and without an oily sheen.

Art Print and Sticker

I also received an art print and sticker from artist Ariel Sinha. Ariel is based in Chicago and is self-taught. A little more about the artist:

Whether it's representing ethnicities, body types, or abilities, I want anyone, especially marginalized folks, to be able to see themselves reflected in my body of work. Both of these pieces were done this summer when I was feeling particularly abstonate and empowered in my position as a woman of color. It felt good to draw women who look like me and have an air of defiance.

I love both of these pieces and the print is already at home in my office.

Steriopod - Toothbrush Protector  - Retail Value $2.99

This was kind of a random inclusion to this curation unless I consider it a really genius thing to stash in your purse for an overnight trip/sleepover. This pod has a really strong scent because it contains thymol which helps keep your toothbrush fresh and clean.

RBL Exclusive Love is Project ICON Leather Bracelet - Listed Value $24.00

I tend to really like little stacker bracelets and though I am not a huge fan of ICON being the chosen word for this one (I am more AWKWARD if they make that option) I do like the way it looks in a mixed bracelet stack and the pop of color from the beads. The inside of the bracelet is leather which makes it very comfortable and because of the way the closure is designed it is super easy to put it on and adjust it to your wrist without needing help! These bracelets are handmade by female artisans in Kenya.

For Days Take Back Bag and Promo Card* - Bag Value $10.00

This was a unique inclusion, though it did arrive with a little bit of a hiccup! This bag is from the company For Days, which is a clothing company producing sustainable and organic basics. If you send them your old clothing (via this bag!) they will provide you with discounts on For Days clothing items while making sure your clothing is recycled and doesn't end up in a landfill. This bag also should have arrived with a $10 credit to use on the site, but our box was missing this card. I reached out to the RBL team who let me know that there were some shipping issues with the cards and anyone who subscribes will receive their card in the next RBL 01 box. I think this is a pretty cool thing to have sent in this box!

RBL Exclusive Mayu Silk Art One-of-a-Kind Scarf

I know most of us who subscribe to boxes are probably ready to do some serious eye-rolling at the sight of a scarf, but wait! This one is actually really cool and in itself a piece of art. Each scarf is individually marbled by hand in Los Angeles. This is also more along the lines of the size of a bandana than a scarf, which makes it a super chic spring accessory for your neck or purse. If spring ever finally gets here! It is also made of silk which automatically makes it more appealing in my mind than something like polyester.

Moroccan Magic Awake & Asleep Masks - Estimated Value $8.50 (buy a 4 pack for $17.00)

Our last item is a pair of sheet masks. I liked these! One is more of a nighttime relaxing sort of deal (lavender) and the other is a more energizing rose. Both came on sheets that fit my face well and had plenty of serum.

The following product is an MSA subscriber-only item! You will receive this if you sign up with this link!

Tiny Bandit x Megan Massacre Candle in 'Amber + Lavender'

Tiny Bandit makes a candle with a scent called Moon Milk which is one of my all-time favorites. These candles are always super fragrant and burn beautifully. This particular edition was designed in tandem with tattoo artist, Megan Massacre. The scent is a little sexier than my Moon Milk fave, but I love the warm amber with the lavender note. There are some amethyst chips inside which make the whole burning experience even prettier!

Verdict: RBL is definitely a departure from SlutBox. And I think that is a really good thing. This box felt much more focused on small, woman-owned businesses but it still has that approachable sort of edginess that anyone could enjoy. I can't actually think of anything I disliked in this curation. Sure, there were some random things (hello toothbrush protector) but even so, everything was usable and ... fun? Yeah, this box was fun! The total value here lands around $185 even without the scarf and For Days bag, which is well above the promised $100 value. There was also a little hiccup with the For Days voucher, but I am willing to overlook that after an absolutely crazy holiday season with numerous shipping delays for literally everyone. Sure, brands tend to start off strong with their first box. So it will be very interesting to see where this one goes over time! I am cautiously optimistic.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes! This first founders box is still shipping.

ACTIVE DEAL: First Order 10% off. No coupon needed - just use this link.

Value Breakdown: At $39.99 for the cost of this box you're paying about $4.00 for each of the 10 items.

I just got a response yesterday to an e-mail I sent to RBL on January 30th. The RBL box is over, I will not be charged again, and anyone who prepaid will be refunded their balance (good luck with that).

It’s too bad. This box looked promising, but poor customer service and SlutBox’s reputation seem to have killed it.

Thank you for letting us know, E! We’ll look into this and share any additional details.

Y’all, check out their website now. I think RBL is over… 😂

RBL still hasn’t responded to me, and now their website has changed to a template for a supplement company. SKETCHY. RUN AWAY.

I didn’t receive the Take Back Bag & Promo card. No idea how to get ahold of someone at RBL. I don’t necessarily need it though. Just odd. I like the CBD Oil, The scarf isn’t really my preferred colors or pattern. The candle is nice, I love the sticker & postcard. I haven’t tried the bullet toy yet, but it seems just basic and fine. The eyeshadow went to my tween daughter. Again not my wheelhouse for color, but a fine palette for her.

I didn’t get the recycle bag either but it was included in this most recent one!

February box includes a shirt, another candle ( I hope every box has a candle), moisturizer, reusable ziplocs, some nose essential oil thing, a resistance band and fitness class thing, and another cute print! I might be missing something

I signed up in January after being assured that I would receive the bonus candle with box 00. RBL actually responded to me within 24 hours when I asked about it.

Then, crickets for three weeks (I sent three messages to two different e-mail addresses and got zero responses) until something finally shipped…

…and it was the February box (box 01). With no amethyst bonus candle. The contents of the box are fine, but not what I was told I would be receiving.

I e-mailed again to express my disappointment. No response.

Glad to see that RBL’s makeover of SlutBox didn’t include their customer service.

Jessica

Scam! I purchased a 3 month subscription over a year ago and received ONE box, eight months later! They don’t have anyone actually doing customer service, only generic auto responses. So basically they took my money and ran. 🤬

Soooo….

I’m somewhat experimental. And I discovered that CBD oil can enhance, especially externally. I’d recommend pairing it with the vibe. I think the experience would overshadow the cost or the rest of the curation. 😉

Anyone have success using the link in the review for the bonus candle? It doesn’t show up in the cart or anything. I’ve reached out to RBL about it, but am awaiting a response.

Meredith

I received the candle with my box no issues, it didn’t show up as an extra item, just shipped with the box. I didn’t receive the Take Back Bag & Promo card though.

I love the old name much better!!!!!:)

So THIS is what I was envisioning when I had originally subscribed to SlutBox. I might go ahead and order – even though I need another eye shadow palette like I need a hole in my head 🙂 The only thing I wouldn’t use would be the scarf, but my mom would LOVE it. (I wouldn’t purchase clothing from that site but would happily resend in some clothes to be recycled!)

I don’t mind this box. However, when the author mentioned putting a vibrator in your luggage, I immediately thought of Fight Club (when a suitcase vibrates, then the throwers gotta call the police).

I like this new incarnation of Slut Box. It seems the massage oil is perfect for sensitive, freshly shaved legs, which I am always on the hunt for. I too can not use lotions on my legs after shaving, I get mean bumps, but oils work well. When I need to watch my money, I use Neutrogena’s Sesame Body Oil.

I like the scarf and bracelet. The eyeshadow pallet looks fun and has color pay off. What a creative idea for a rainbow prism eye look. You did a beautiful job, Meagan.
The vibrator looks like it would get the job done, and although nothing is particularly special about it, it would be appreciated here. I like that there are plenty of matte shades, because as a woman in her 40’s, at least for me, real glittery eyeshadows stick to creases and just make my eyes look older than they are.

I will keep an eye on the next few boxes. This seems like could be similar to Cause Box, but with sex toys!

Megan, your eye look inspired by the prism in your mom’s house is inspired. It’s my favorite ever!!

SLUTBOX IS BACK!! This is like Christmas, I’m so excited.

And it feels VERY on-brand that the “fall” box would arrive in January. Oh, SlutBox. XD

(Okay but actually I love this curation and would definitely go for it if it were $10 cheaper or if the palette had more consistent reviews.)

Hey Beth, how are you sweetie…. It’s me Beth L. Love the name:)

Hahaha this made my day! Hello my awesome-named friend! 🙂

LJ

A low end sex toy, eyeshadow (which by the way looked super pretty), couples massage products, and some pinkish accessories. I’m a bit confused as to what exactly the target demographic is for this. Although I agree, for the former Slut Box, the throw in your purse toothpaste holder may have been the shining item of the one night stand kit.

Jenna

This is definitely what I thought SlutBox would be about. I’m gonna keep watching this. More boxes like this would get a subscriber out of me.

Bi monthly meaning twice a month or every two months? I was considering ordering this box to try out but I don’t want to be stuck paying for a second box in the same month.

Reply ButtonReply

Vic

Bi-monthly means every other month.

Jessica

The sheet masks and body oil were in recent yogi surprise boxes. I wonder if there is a relation between the boxes?
Also my boyfriend used that massage oil on me which turned into intimate adult which turned into one of the worst infections down there I’ve ever had. So just please be careful with that body oil

Oh Jessica! You made me smile…then wince. Thank you for the PSA.
