Cocotique “Seed Phytonutrients Holiday Takeover” December 2020 Review

Card Front for Cocotique December 2020

This month’s Cocotique box is the “Seed Phytonutrients Holiday Takeover” edition.

Card Back for Cocotique December 2020

The back of the Cocotique info card describes all the products included in this month’s box. It also provides information on where to purchase the products online and exclusive discount codes where available.

Bonus Item: Canvas Tote

The box comes with a bonus reusable tote bag each month. I love this element! I think it is commendable when brands promote low-waste options. I love the message behind the text "I am worthy, I am beautiful, I am enough" print on the front of the bag.

Seed Phytonutrients Gentle Facial Cleanser, 8.5 fl oz - Full Size! Retail Value $28.00

Seed Phytonutrients is new to me as a brand, but let me tell you, I'm so happy to have discovered them through Cocotique. I am in love with this Gentle Facial Cleanser. It's vegan, sulfate-free, gluten-free, and paraben-free, with no harsh chemicals. The gel-like cleanser works perfectly for my sensitive skin, removing makeup and oil, without making my face feel tight or dehydrated. After cleansing, my face feels fresh, clean, soft, and smooth. The product has a pleasant light scent that smells almost like a fresh green field speckled with wildflowers. Another awesome thing about this brand and product... The packaging is eco-friendly and recyclable, and a packet of seeds is included inside the bottle that you can plant. I received "Harvest Thyme." I'm looking forward to seeing if I have a green thumb. The product is formulated with sunflower seed and camelina oil and coconut to pack a punch of nourishment, help maintain skin hydration, and leave your face feeling refreshingly clean.

Seed Phytonutrients Body Moisturizer, 8.5 fl oz - Full Size! Retail Value $18.00

Seed Phytonutrients Body Moisturizer is a vegan, nutrient-rich moisturizer designed for normal to dry skin. Formulated with seed oils, coconut, and shea butter, this nourishing body moisturizer is incredibly lightweight and absorbs quickly, softening skin with just the subtlest scent of sea salt and bergamot. I'm really enjoying this product. It leaves my skin feeling silky smooth and soft, without leaving behind a greasy film. I can literally apply this product to my hands, turn around and pick up my iPhone to send off a text without leaving any icky finger smudges on the screen. I love how the scent is so light that even someone sensitive to smells can enjoy it. Just like the facial cleanser, the body moisturizer's packaging is completely biodegradable and recyclable, with a packet of seeds tucked inside. I received "Wild Arugala." I am so excited to see if I can actually grow arugula.

Seed Phytonutrients Anti-Frizz Shampoo, 8.5 fl oz - Full Size! Retail Value $18.00

I have a lot of hair with a lot of curls and a huge amount of frizz, so anything anti-frizz garners my immediate attention. This Seed Phytonutrients Anti-Frizz Shampoo worked well curbing my frizz-prone hair and making my untamable curls a bit more manageable. Formulated with organic jojoba seed oil, sunflower seed, vitamins, and fatty acids, this shampoo cleansed and nourished my hair without leaving it feeling stripped and brittle. The scent has a very natural essence to it, with hints of orange flower and parsley in the aroma. And you guessed it, another package of seeds was tucked away in this product's biodegradable and recyclable packaging. This time, I got "Lemon Basil." After this subscription, I'll be all set to start my own garden.

Seed Phytonutrients Anti-Frizz Conditioner, 8.5 fl oz - Full Size! Retail Value $18.00

I am a huge fan of conditioning my hair as much as possible. I love to condition, deep condition, anything that intensely nourishes my hair. This Seed Phytonutrients Anti-Frizz Conditioner is a complete home run. The product is amazing and leaves my hair visibly less frizzy and moisturized. The smell is a natural, subtle scent that is noticeable but not overpowering. Formulated with organic jojoba seed oil and a unique amino acid complex, this conditioner strengthens and protects unruly and frizzy hair by replenishing keratin. Inside this biodegradable, recyclable packaging, I received another packet of "Lemon Basil" seeds.

Seed Phytonutrients Anti-Frizz Smoothing Cream, 2.5 fl oz - Full Size! Retail Value $19.00

Seed Phytonutrients Anti-Frizz Smoothing Cream is pretty incredible. It calmed down my frizz and made my hair smooth and soft without making it feel oily or heavy. A little of this product goes a long way. It has a thick texture and easily distributes through hair. It worked perfectly for air drying my hair into frizz-free curls. The scent is a light, unobtrusive fragrance that does not smell overpowering or artificial. I love the metal recyclable packaging of this product. Formulated with jojoba seed oil and shea butter, this anti-frizz smoothing cream does more than just tame frizz. It also nourishes and leaves hair feeling healthy.

Here are the seed packets I received in the packaging of the Seed Phytonutrients Gentle Facial Cleanser, Body Moisturizer, Anti-Frizz Shampoo, and Anti-Frizz Conditioner.

The Verdict: I loved how sleek and streamlined this month's Cocotique box was. Featuring a single brand takeover was a brilliant idea. Every product this month was great, but I especially enjoyed the Seed Phytonutrients Gentle Facial Cleanser. It does a wonderful job cleansing without dehydrating skin and you can feel the difference the clean ingredients bring. The Seed Phytonutrients Anti-Frizz Smoothing Cream was another amazing product this month. It worked well to control frizz and make my curls more defined and natural. And what would the anti-frizz smoothing cream be without the Seed Phytonutrients Anti-Frizz Shampoo and Anti-Frizz Conditioner? I love that this trio was included in this month's box; all three products working in harmony to help battle my frizz. Lastly, the Seed Phytonutrients Body Moisturizer was spectacularly hydrating without leaving me feeling like I was covered in a slimy glaze, like a Christmas honey roasted ham. And to make this month's box and products truly unique, there were actual seed packets inside the packaging to help you grow fresh herbs or vegetables of your own. With a retail value of $101 on a $25 box, the value was certainly there and subscribers definitely received their money's worth, and I'm sure many like myself discovered an amazing new clean body and haircare brand.

To Wrap Up:

Can I get this box if I sign up today? No, you'll likely receive the January box but one-time boxes are usually available in the Cocotique shop for $25.

  • Facial Cleanser - $6.92
  • Body Moisturizer - $4.46
  • Shampoo - $4.46
  • Conditioner - $4.46
  • Smoothing Cream - $4.70

Cool takeover box 🙂 I had no idea this brand had products besides haircare(!), and that you actually get seeds with the products. How cool! I’ve eyed this brand for awhile, and I was almost tempted to try it out when I saw some of their hair products at Marshall’s, but the packaging is what stopped me as all I could envision was the paper bottles getting wet & eventually becoming a pulpy mess by the time I was done with them. Maybe I’m wrong, and they’d hold up well. I’m sure they had to have tested it before bringing it to market, lol.

Hey Luna! I’ve been using the brand for a few weeks now (in the shower) and the bottles have held up very well. There is a studier, what looks like recycled plastic under the cardboard👍🏾
