Housecat Club Pie Slice Catnip Toy (x2) - Retail Value $14 ($7 each)
If you are wondering about the cost, these are handmade. I think they are pretty cute and they also seem well-made and durable. They are made from felt and the catnip inside is organic. I like that they are lightweight, as my cats tend to prefer smaller, lighter toys. These were worth a few sniffs from all of my cats but I expect they’ll be mostly used by Monkey as time goes on. (Although he is my oldest cat, he is also the cat who plays with toys most often.)
Fur Ball Cat Toys (x2) – Buy 4 for $5.99
I am not sure what these are made of but they are very soft. Madison just wanted to rub his face on them (that is what he does with most toys) but once again, I think these mostly appeal to Monkey, who has always liked to bat small toys around on the floor.

Hydra Care Veterinary Supplement for Cats (12 pouches) – Retail Value $33.99 (found here for $25.99)
This is the wellness item for the month and it is supposed to help get your cat to drink more water. It is liver flavored and contains natural osmolytes to aid in the absorption of water. Monkey is my cat who has had urinary problems in the past (we’re talking like early 2012) and he is currently on a urinary support prescription food. Because of the prescription food, I am a little hesitant to give this to him (don’t want to double up on anything) but there are times when he goes off the prescription food because he is working on an enormous hairball, and this will be useful to have around for those times. I find that while I don’t always use the wellness items from this subscription right away, I have often had cause to go dig them up a few months later and have been very glad they’re on hand. For example, we have used nail trimmers and styptic powder, we have used joint supplements, etc., all later on.
Kitty Kitty Cluck Treats – Retail Value $5.99
These are catnip-coated freeze-dried chicken. Although all three cats ate these, Sneaky will get most of them. I have to give her treats before and after her asthma treatments but she needs to lose a little weight and freeze-dried meat is low in calories. This is a new brand for us.
Kitty Kitty Surf Treats - Retail Value $5.99
These are krill-coated freeze-dried whitefish. The cats also liked these but again Sneaky will be eating most of them. These did not stay quite as intact as the chicken treats but that is a common difference between fish and chicken treats in general, I have found. One thing you can do with the powder from treats like this is to sprinkle it over food to entice a cat to eat, I have had pretty good luck with that in the past.

Munchiecat Wine and Cheese Toys – Buy a 7-Piece set for $28.99
You can’t buy these alone but you can buy several larger themed sets that include them. These are plush toys with catnip and the cheese also has a rattle. Sneaky was rather interested in the cheese toy and Monkey rolled around with the wine toy, which is basically kicker-sized (Monkey is my only cat who really plays with kickers, but he gets quite a bit of enjoyment out of them).

Verdict: I couldn’t calculate a total value for the December VetPet Box for cats because not every item was available for individual sale online. The value of the hydration supplement and the treats and the pie slices together is about $60, which is well over the month-to-month cost of the box. I am glad to have the supplement on hand and the treats and toys were well-liked (as they usually are from this subscription) so this was a pretty good month for us.
