Scent Box October 2020 Review

This month, I received Scent Box’s “Scent of the Month.”

The information card usually has a little information about the men’s scent of the month on one side and the women’s on the other side.

In case I have not mentioned it in the past, you receive a new atomizer every month. The fragrance is printed on a sticker on the bottom, and the atomizers tend to be different colors each month, so you can keep them sorted.

This month, there was also an insert about breast cancer awareness. They did this last year too, as I recall.

On to the fragrance:

I Love Love by Moschino - Estimated Value $13.60 (buy 4.7 mL for $7.99)

This was launched in 2004 and is mostly available from discount sites these days. I used the price of a mini since it was closer to the volume you get in this subscription; however, if this is one you really like, it is more economical to buy the 3.4 fl oz (about 100 mL).

The top notes here are mostly citrus (grapefruit, orange, and lemon, so nothing particularly strange) and red currant. The citrus is most noticeable to me. Although I detected a little grapefruit, I would hesitate to call this a grapefruit scent. I don't notice the currant so much.

Mid notes include sugar cane, bulrush, lily of the valley, tea rose, and cinnamon. I would say that the floral notes are pretty faint, and the cinnamon kind of blends in with the base notes. This isn't a heavily sweet fragrance (darn, I like those) but it is a *little* sweet.

Base notes are musk, cedar, and woody notes, all of which I love.

In the end, this ends up being a slightly citrusy, musky, woody fragrance with just a little bit extra. It is not a fragrance I get super excited about, but I do generally like it, and can think of some times I would reach for it. This is a really summery fragrance, I think. Longevity was not bad. I put this on right before working out and I could smell it the whole time, I guess my body heat was contributing to that. Anyway, I could still smell it after I cooled down, so I didn't sweat it all away. Sillage was low to moderate.

Verdict: The estimated value of my fragrance this month is $13.60. That is still slightly under the cost of the subscription, but much better than last month. I will say the same thing I pretty much always say in these reviews, but the way to get the most out of this subscription is to choose your own fragrances. You can go for value, or you can try to pick things you think you will like, or you can totally take risks since there are free exchanges if something doesn't work out for you.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes, all you have to do is choose this fragrance.

Value Breakdown: This subscription is $14.95/monthly and this month, I received $13.60 worth of fragrance (but again, this is highly variable based on what scent you choose).

I wonder how your kitties felt about that citrus scent? Mine always hated citrus, especially lemon and grapefruit. If I used citrus scented hand lotion they wouldn’t even let me pet them!

They didn’t react.

The only time I got a reaction to a perfume from one of my pets was with my old dog, Nyx. I sprayed one on and she got up and immediately left the room.
