My bag arrived with 4 items missing. I’m missing 2 add ons and 2 items from my bag. I contacted ipsy through the app last week and haven’t heard back. Anyone know the best way to contact ipsy?

Ashleigh

So… I just got the strangest email from Ipsy. It pretty much said “we failed to display your ideal product preferences and it impacted your bag selection” so they’re giving me a bogo $3 add on for the next bag. Very strange, but I did notice that my selections were terrible (three complex culture puppies and a lip oil were the only options in one choice). Was going to skip December but maybe not now… anyone else get this?

Reply ButtonReply

Lynda

Donna, it is not a mess. Easy really. If you buy a $3 add on in December, you can pick a second one for free.

Reply ButtonReply

Ashleigh

Lol just noticed it says puppies. Autocorrect from lippies. Would be quite the odd bag if they sent puppies! Lol…

Reply ButtonReply

Jennifer Mcallister

I got the same email. My selections were terrible. They gave me a nail polish selection and I have that marked as never. And I got lipstick selections in each choice also. This was the worst selection I’ve had since they started the 3 choice items.

Reply ButtonReply

Jennifer

Got that too

Reply ButtonReply

Marie

I got the same e-mail.

Reply ButtonReply

Renee

I think all GBP got this email. Lots of people complained on the survey or other ways about the value of the bag/options.

Reply ButtonReply

Robin

Donna – What mess from Allure? Just curious. I have that one too.

Donna

I did not get that email, so maybe I was not affected. It would be a mess to have to deal with that in addition to the email mess from Allure last month.

Sherri

Did anyone else get an email about an Ipsy error wrt product choices? Mine said: “We’re reaching out because we noticed an issue on our end that may have impacted your product choices on the 2nd when you personalized your monthly bag. We always strive to deliver a great experience for our members, but we failed to display your ideal product preferences as we intended…” Hmmm… I did have one product that I got last month as a choice, I wonder if that was it?

Anyway, they are offering a B1G1 $3 add-on credit for December. That’s a pretty underwhelming attempt to “make it up to” me, as they said. Not even a free $3 add-on, I have to buy one to get the freebie (which, I mean, there’s a darned good chance I will, but still…)

Reply ButtonReply

Robin

Here too. The price and stuff confused me. Made me think it came under GB not GBP. So buy a sample in December, get one I guess. Not sure how that changes the “glitch” much.

Reply ButtonReply

Renee

All GBP got this so I’ve heard.

Reply ButtonReply

Sherri

Ok, incoming dumb question… what survey?

Beth

Nope not all plus. Many of those complaining about choices in the survey got an email.

Nikkim

Just got an email from ipsy 30 mins ago saying there was a technical issue on their end on personalization and they’re giving some people a free add-on for December. I thought the choices were crap this month lol. One $3.00 product doesn’t really cover 25 dollars but it’s something. The choices were really bad

Reply ButtonReply

Robin

I got it too. I kinda b***d in the survey. Lol Was it for Glambag or Plus? I have both. Bogo addons, $3 coupon…I don’t really understand. But, I am also very new to both Ipsy subs.

Anyone have more insight?

Reply ButtonReply

Nikkim

Its plus. I dont sub to any others that ipsy offers

Katy

These are horrible. Over half are the same stuff they’ve had all year and I already have almost all of it. I am so glad I cancelled.

Reply ButtonReply

Kristine

So glad I opted out this month. Most is these products are all repeats. Bag is ugly. They are cheaply made. Have so many lip glosses that I’ll never use. Same as eye liners and mascara. Wonder what the December bag will bring. Last year it was amazing.

Reply ButtonReply

Renee

Someone posted on the reddit ipsy their bag already and complained that it felt so thin, like a disposable bag. It prob cost 25 cents to manufacture. I’d prefer a reusable box like Birchbox at this point. At least i can store stuff properly with those!

Reply ButtonReply

April

You r correct. Last year’s Xmas bag was bag was amazing. Looking forward to the same. Xoxoxo everyone. Know this has been a real rough one for everybody. Would b great to get a holiday mask or or a bling mask. You know your customers would love those.

Reply ButtonReply

Ashley Marcum

My choice was completely lackluster. I have been with Ipsy for a couple years and this is the worst GBP. When they first started they were amazing now? My choices had too many palettes for past bags and eyeshadow sticks and lip oils. All the good
Products were given Influencers because they weren’t given to local customers. I heard Ipsy bought Boxycharm I hope this isn’t a pattern..

Reply ButtonReply

Jennifer

I just popped in to see what I am skipping this month – looks like a lot of repeats. I’m happy with my decision to skip! Hope there are better choices in December.

Reply ButtonReply

Mari

Eck this is only my third month with Ipsy Plus and the honeymoon period is officially over. It’s honestly been a really mixed bag. My first month was great, my second month I refer to as “palette-palooza” because I ended up with 4 eyeshadow palettes, and this month is just… lackluster. I waited it out hoping my choices would improve and they honestly just got way worse lol

Ipsy picked the Coral VV palette and the trestique mascara, and I ended up with a disappointing assortment of low-end Complex Culture, Item beauty, and Julep choices to fill it out. Was too bummed to even get into add-ons. Luckily I grabbed the tatcha with my regular bag add-on pick.

Reply ButtonReply

Jenn

Yesss same for me. I was really hoping for the murad but here we are with junk. I’m usually super happy with my Ipsy but this month was horrible!! I hope next month will make up for it.

Reply ButtonReply

Robin

In addition to the Trestique Good Vibes Mascara and the Seraphine Sakura & Sage Palette (Ipsy chose for me) and the Tula skincare under eye patches, Sugar Rush lip oil in Dragon Fruit and Araceli Eyeliner in Night that I chose (of what I could), I added the Tula face filter primer I couldn’t get in choice, and samples of the Thrive Lip filler liner, and Beauty Crop Eyeshadow primer. I actually thought the person who said they didn’t want to add on items, had a good point. I can see how it could encourage less than stellar monthly bags.

I added them to my regular Ipsy Bag, though. I have to get the hang of things. I realized that was an option today almost by mistake.

Reply ButtonReply

Jennifer

We all need to cancel and only sub to the regular Ipsy since it’s the cheapest way to access the add on which is where the only good products are. This really makes me worry about boxy merging with Ipsy. Worst month of plus to date…

Reply ButtonReply

Kim

Food for thought!!! Thanks Jennifer

Reply ButtonReply

Nikki

Every month I have some lip product in every choice option. This time in addition, that lid glaze and the cream to powder sticks….just give me PALETTE options instead of SINGLE shadows in my $25 sub. Ya know?

Amanda thatblondie

I know I’m crazy for this (but hey it’s literally the excitement of my year-the 2nd every month!) but when I saw more spoilers before bed I decided to pull an all-nighter (side note was reading all the fine print on each measure and old me would have fallen asleep, but I think I’m finally an adult WOO WHOO, so was not tired at all from all the reading)… anyways, focus Amanda, not everyone will follow your-all-over-the-place-post…. so I’m in California and choice tends to be live around 4:45 am (not 6 which I learned the hard way!) anyways I tried my luck at 3:35ish and VOILA choice followed by add-on both available!! Old name would probably keep to myself, but anyone who check MSA is a friend of mine 😉 if anyone from MSA sees this please let me write for you!! I’ve had Ipsy just shy of 6 years and would love to be able to share my thoughts and reviews.
My plus was a bit lackluster last month, but this made up for it tenfold! Side note: my regular glam bag was pretty boring given all the options I haven’t received, but the add-ons definitely made up fir it! I’ll share that on appropriate feed.
So as mentioned it was super early, which I don’t agree with; if you say a time please stick with it! Not everyone can do what I did, and I am not able to every month, but my work schedule allowed it today…
what Ipsy chose:
1. Complex Culture full time palette edit 1-YES PLEASE! I’d buy edit 3, but this will be awesome to see if I should purchase or not. I LOVE the brushes so far and was feeling fomo seeing the single shadows in reg glam bag.
2. Yensa silk bronzing base and brush-had my eye on this but couldn’t justify spending money to add when I typically don’t like cream products (despite my best efforts lol….however winter might be a better time to try)
My picks:
3. Murad retinol night cream-stoked for this! Really going above and beyond with skin care because suddenly I’m not in my 20’s anymore (not even early 30’s WHERE HAS TIME GONE?!) anyways really fortunate I was able to grab this and won’t be wasted! #blessed (I kid, but had to laugh at myself and all the Instagram posts with that tag)
4. Complex Culture lip cream in mauve nude- MY NAME IS AMANDA AND IM A LIP ADDICT. All things lippie I can’t control myself! I just bought two tarte lip oils after eyeing them for a year and thank god I got them 50% off, not at all impressed with them… I’ve got every lip oil known to mankind (actually that’s my goal, have maybe 75-80% lol) and sadly that tarte oil gets a C- for me (one was so empty they had to send another otherwise would be a D+) and I LOVE tarte! Anyways, wish I said this before y’all made your choices…
5. Seraphim Botanicals lip mask- Lip addict duhhh. All about lip masks this year. Couldn’t pay retail despite wanting it so helllll yeah thanks Ipsy!!

Ok my novel is almost done… add-ons:
1. Beauty blender sponge and primer, I needed the real deal my cheapy sponges were getting black spots no matter how careful and clean I was… not about mold on my face but thanks lol
2. Honey jarret cleanser- wanted to try plus pink bottle (Barbie is my girl)
3. Thrive lip liner-full size for $3 and already had and loved it!
4. Tatcha cleanser-loved other items needed to try this and why not for the price! Plus holiday travel need small bottles
5. Tula eye masks- bf and I both use masks so had to grab em
6. Glow recipe banana moisturizer-YES PLEASE live this brand and love bananas!
Beauty crop primer-full size? $3? Say no more! Plus for my new eyeshadow palette 😉
7. Barefoot Venus lotion-my hands can’t be left out esp with all the sanitizer. (The milk made body lotion is my fave so snagged in reg gb because I have 5 unused still)

Ok, probably longest post… guess you could say I need some human interaction LOL. Be my friend? Boyfriend can only talk beauty with me for so long (bless his heart).

Have a great day! XO

Amanda

My name us Amanda, I am also a lip addict, and we are box twins. I am very happy with my box this month. Hoping to like the seraphine lip mask as much as my laneige, I especially like it is in a tube and not pot. I was up super early this morning because I woke up in a panic because I remembered I forgot to turn my alarm back on after being off for a week. I was up at 5:15am central time. I don’t understand why they state a time and then update it so early.

Reply ButtonReply

Robin

Hardly crazy for that. I joined various beauty subs lately purposely because I’ve been going through a lot and in a really tough spot, so I was trying to give myself little things to look forward to. I’ve also been focusing on beauty stuff a lot as a way to feel better, take better care of myself, and also find some sorta…civility in a difficult situation, I can’t change that much.

Reply ButtonReply

Dea

It seems that many of us had the same experience: Not enough choice (except between shades of the same item), hardly any skincare offered, and a VERY uneven distribution of products between categories.

How do they decide what goes into each choice grouping? On my screen, the offerings were not grouped by item type OR BY PRICE RANGE! Each category had a wide variation in prices, even something like $18 to $65.

Looking at the overall list of products for the month, there were many repeats. Looks like ipsy is showing that they want to sell, sell, sell add-ons, so many of the better items are only offered as add-ons. That’s why they spoil add-ons more than choice or assigned items.

So the sub itself is the “five for $25” deal to lure us into the ipsy shop and buy the real merchandise.

Reply ButtonReply

Stephanie

I skipped the past couple of months because I’m so bloody overloaded with product but since I wanted the VV palette and lip oil I decided to get this box. At first I was kinda disappointed because I received no skincare options but the reality is I don’t need more skincare and only need makeup.

But I’m bummed because it was all lip products in all my categories except for options for cream eyeshadow in light colors of the same brand (which I never wear) and the eyeshadow pencils that I already received in my bag 3 months ago. It was so weird it was literally lip oil, lip mask, CC lipstick/glaze or cream eyeshadows….nothing else. I guess I shouldn’t complain, at least I didn’t get blk eyeliner or mascara.

Reply ButtonReply

Jennifer

Same here. My choice items ended up being all lip items. They chose eye shadow pallet and bronzer. I don’t really need eyeshadow but I’ll use it. I don’t use bronzer so I’ll probably give it to a friend. Not that great of choices this month.

Reply ButtonReply

Joyce

Very annoyed with Ipsy right now. I went into my account chose my 3 items and then it finalized it without my seeing add ons and it won’t let me in to buy any. I emailed Ipsy and they never responded(this was early this morning). I feel like Ipsy should have someone to do customer service and they do not. I sometimes spend a lot in add ons.

Ipsy picked: ESTATE COSMETICS X Bailey Sarian Venice Fling Eyeshadow Palette–I turned this down as a pick not once, but twice. I am not crazy about this brand having tries the highlighters sent by Ipsy but maybe it will be OK.

Good Vibes Mascara + Lash Curler in Icelandic Black Lacquer–I am not in need of any black mascara at all but it will go into the stash.

I chose:
MURAD Retinol Youth Renewal Night Cream–Heck yeah. All MURAD all the time, please.
TULA SKINCARE Eye Feel Amazing Cooling & Brightening Hydrogel Eye Mask (Set of 4)–I will definitely use these and these help my husband with his headaches.
SERAPHINE BOTANICALS Fruit Butter – Lip Mask–Definitely the season to get one and use it. Hopefully it is better than the BS palette that I got from this brand last month.

Reply ButtonReply

Allison

I don’t like my bag this month. I didn’t really like my choices this month. I’m getting 3 different lip products. I think I’m going to give it to the end of the year and decide if I want to cancel it or not.

Ipsy’s picks:
Violet Voss Coral Palette (too dark for me)
Girlactik Sparkle Balm Duo (not sure about this)

My picks:
Murad Retinol Night Cream
Sugar Rush Lip Oil in Fresh Pressed
Seraphine Botanicals Fruit Butter Lip Mask

I’m not going to use VV palette. I think what I’ll do around Christmastime is put together makeup bags of products that I haven’t opened and donate them to a women’s shelter.

Reply ButtonReply

Makeup86

They picked the Venice Fling eyeshadow palette and sometimes I like an orange look so that’s ok. They also picked that Trestique mascara with the built in eyelash curler. This is the third time I’ve gotten this mascara, but one of the times it might have been from Boxy. I haven’t tried the mascara and gave I’ve away but that curler was the only one I had at the time and it was a miserable experience that I will never try again. You can only do half your lashes at a time and I pinched myself. And my lashes wound up seperated in the middle because I couldn’t curl them an the same way. I have had eyelash curlers before and I just bought a regular full sized curler. Turns out I just hate them and don’t need them bad enough to do that to myself.

It’s really wasteful to build a curler onto a mascara, anyway. It’s also wasteful when things come with brushes or spoolies, so you’re always throwing one out or trying to figure out another use.

The choices weren’t great but they said it was based on my preferences so I got some Miami something eyeshadow palette (a category of thing of which I do not need), a lip oil (of which I will burn through because my lips have more flakes than a snowstorm), and a primer that has mixed reviews.

The constantly inflating prices of the add ons had me skip every damn one of them.

I’m not unhappy with the bag, but the drawstring bags things come in are getting pretty useless. If they were clear I could at least use them for organizing things like my craft stuff. Last Christmas I took all my extra makeup bags with me and let my aunts and cousin pick through them, but this year I am only making holiday phone calls because of the virus. Maybe next Christmas I can use them to wrap small gifts.

Reply ButtonReply

Melissa

I didn’t have the choice for Murad either, I choice the Tula primer. A little disappointed.

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole

Ugh! I was on as soon as it opened and got the same two items, but my choices were NOT the same. NO murad in the first category and no flesh in the 3rd. Instead a had a cheap lippi in the 3rd and two different item liquid shadows to pick from in the first.

I literally only kept my plus this month (after skipping previous months) for the murad.

It wasn’t a choice or an add on.

I had ZERO higher end/pricy items to choose from/in my bag.

What a let down.

Reply ButtonReply

Cheryl

Ditto with only lower-price products and no high end options.

Reply ButtonReply

Deb

I’m so sorry that happened to y’all !! I can relate. You shouldn’t have to be logged in at the crack of dawn in order to get the higher end items.

Krissy

I hear you. I signed on at 9:05 and initially had Murad selected, then when I tried to advance to the next screen it was no longer available 🙁

I guess they all got snagged up super fast!

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole

I was on the second it opened. I don’t think it was sold out. Sadly, I think my choices were just different. If things were sold out, wouldn’t I just have fewer options, not the same number but different products? 🤔

Mary

I am so disappointed in my options. I was not given the option of one skin care item! Ipsy chose the Violet Voss palette and the Trestique mascara. I chose the sugar rush lip oil, the item beauty eyeshadow and the Seraphine lip product. My choices were definitely lacking…maybe because I skipped the two months prior??? I’m probably going to unsubscribe. The only reason I held back from unsubscribing this month was due to spoilers for Sunday Riley and Murad. Of course, neither was offered.

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole

Same. I was on the second it opened and no skin care, no murad, no higher end.

Instead of the murad and masks in the 1st category, I had the 2 of the item liquid eyeshadow, just different colors, and the primer. The second category was the same. In the third, instead of the flesh, I had the bronzer, which they gave me points for sending last month as I’ve received 3 now. Lol

Definitely my most disappointing plus bag to date.

Anita

Happened to wake up at 6:30 est this morning so checked app & my choices were there. Ispy chose:

VV Coral palette (will prob pass on I think these shades will make me look sickly but I’ll
Look closer once I get it)
Yensa Bronzer/Brush (happy to get a brush, not sure about bronzer shade & it’s
A cream so we’ll see)

I chose:

Murad Retinol cream (love the brand & use a lot of their stuff thanks to Ipsy
Introducing me to them)
Seraphine Lip Mask (initially wasn’t interested in this but it was the best of the
Choices and my winter time lips can always use it)
Complex Culture Lip Cream in Espresso (love this brown shade, hope it’s dark enough)

Looking at everything that was available for Plus, I already have about 50% of it. A few things I wouldn’t have minded being repeated but that would have been to easy of Ipsy. In the category of wanting things my way I usually get repeats of things I didn’t like or eyeshadow or face palettes which I rarely hit pan on. We want what we want I guess.

I added on the $3 Tatcha cleanser & the $3 Glow recipe banana cream (happy to try both for cheap cost. Also second month in a row added on Sunday Riley A+ Retinol (this is a case where they could repeat this in my bag a couple times a year and I wouldn’t complain.) $18 for an $85 product I use regularly? I’ll take it

I do wish Ipsy would get a more consistent reveal time for choice. I’ve seen someone else comment about getting their choice offered around the same 6:30a time. Selfishly, I’m happy I got in so early since several times before I went in around 9a or even later as I was able & missed out on desired add ons. On the other hand, I really hate it when companies are inconsistent with their policies, standards of operation. I understand customer service as I used to work in it for many years & I was given a certain amount of leeway to accommodate customers. Nice vs nasty customers play into business a lot. I’m not saying it’s right, but most of us have dealt with both. If I was able to get to choose at 6:30 in the morning I hope everyone else was too. Choice was usually at 9a, that’s a big time difference. I’m up early anyway but I’m sure there were people who didn’t access their ipsy account til later.

Sorry for the lengthy complaint rant. I’m just frustrated.

Reply ButtonReply

Jennifer

I hated this so bad. Seems Ipsy is now all about money which I knew was coming eventually! All the good products were in a single choice category and we all stick around to shop the add ons. I don’t want 4 of the 5 items in my bag. All I want is the add ons. I should of skipped and went with the reg bag to shop add ons

Reply ButtonReply

Cheryl

I refuse to reward Ipsy with add-on purchases when I get bad choice options and little I’m really excited about in my subscription bag.

Reply ButtonReply

Sherry

I’m pretty happy with my bag this month, however I would have loved to have a couple of the items that were in my first choice grouping, but I’m not willing to pay add on price for them.

Ipsy chose:

Violet Voss Coral Pop palette (preferred the complex culture palette, but I do like violet Voss formula so I’m good with this)
Yensa Bronzer duo (I wanted this the last time it was an option but I selected something different in the same grouping)

I chose:
Murad retinol cream. (Thrilled about this choice)
Complex Culture tinted lip cream in Dusty Rose (Happy to try the brand)
Seraphine lip treatment. (Really needing the lip treatment)

I was really good with add-ons, only purchased the sample size of the Purrlisse foundation/BB creM

I’m usually cool with my glam bag plus, there are gonna be some flops mixed in with the winners…thats life. This month I’m getting:
V.V. palette
Yensa bronzer duo
Murad moisturizer
Tula eye patches
Julep eyeshadow cream in bronze
**then i went wild and added 8 items, lol…
SR UFO
SR A+
Thrive lip liner
Tatcha cleanser
Code Zero eye primer
It Cosmetics face primer
111skin moisturizer
Glow Recipes banana souffle

Ipsy chose: Trestique mascara and Compex Culture palette.
I chose: Tula primer, Tula eye gels and Seraphine Botanicals lip mask.
Added on: Shape Tape concealer, Thrive lip liner, Sunday Riley A+ & UFO.

The Tula primer makes the value worth it and honestly even if it didn’t, being able to get full size Sunday Riley for $18 will always be worth it. I don’t *need* that many new products each month, but my mom/sisters love getting my extras and I can’t get over how pleased I am that at least one or two choices every month have brands I love. Keep the Tula, Sunday Riley, Thrive, etc. coming, Ipsy!
